When anyone asks me where the best cannolis are in the Twin Cities, this is where I send them. Each time I've been there, the owner Tesh has been there and remembered that I had been there before. I've dropped in twice with no notice for a dozen cannolis, and he has given me fresh filled cannolis each time. Not only are these fresh, but they are the perfect balance of sweet and creamy. Truly the best cannolis in the Twin Cities. I've also ordered their cream puffs, which are out of this world. The filling is so balanced and isn't overly sweet. My wife usually doesn't love sweets but she said this was one of her favorite desserts of all time. I tell any fellow east coast Italians that this is where the Italian bake goods are. Truly go. I had been looking for a birthday cake for my niece. I found Rebecca's from searching and ordered their Tres Leches cake. Also, when I was waiting for the cake, I started to talk to another couple waiting to order. They said that they regularly drive from Coon Rapids just to come to Rebecca's. Well, the cake was beyond fantastic! I am not a cake fan however this cake was so moist and not too sweet. All the guests at the party, even those that don't like cake like me, raved about it. The staff were so friendly and helpful and able to be flexible when I asked for writing on top - they did it on the spot. I have been back several times since to order various other bakery goods for me and for other occasions from Rebecca's, all delicious and enjoyed by everyone. Thank you Rebecca's! read more

I don't know whether or not my experience was affected by the time of day (I ordered some baked goods for delivery from Doordash at around 2pm), but the place is open until 8, so I don't know if that's a satisfactory salve for my underwhelmed impression. If you're open that late, and you don't serve any other food but baked goods, I'd expect you to be able to offer a variety throughout the day. First, I ordered two pastries. One was a croissant, but when I think of pastries, I think of a short dough with some kind of filling, not a croissant. What's more, the croissant with which I tried to content myself was raw in the middle. The other pastry I haven't tried yet, but it basically looks like more of their version of croissant dough with some kind of cheese filling. That counts as a pastry, yes, but if I'd known that basically anything I ordered that had a filling would be some form of cheese or custard (I also ordered a creampuff, gorgeous but filled with custard or pudding of some sort, not creme), I might have reconsidered my order. Lastly, they were offering a pretty sizeable bag of shortbread cookies for a reasonable price. But these were not shortbread. If I had to describe what they're most like, I'd say leftover pieces of sweet pie dough smashed into odd shapes and sold as such. Shortbread is a specific thing--a rich, buttery, sweet, crisp and somewhat dense cookie. Not reconstituted overcooked pie crust. I'd have gladly paid what I thought was a good price for half the amount of the real thing rather than the generous portion of ersatz I got. I'm all for avoiding food waste, but I'm also for truth in advertising. The pound cake was okay, and the piece was very generous (I ate around 25% of it), but more like an extra moist sponge cake than pound cake. I expect a tighter crumb, less moisture, and more buttery flavor. At least a bit of lemon to it. Suffice it to say I wasn't bowled over, but it'll be good enough to have with coffee over the next few days. I also ordered an apple turnover but haven't eaten that yet. Hard to mess those up though, so not too worried. The cake I ordered I also haven't tasted, but looks beautiful, so I have high hopes for that. Overall though, I'm disappointed. Seems like the kind of place you'd best not order from unless you can lay eyes on the product yourself, in person, because the description may not match your expectations. read more

This pains me to write this. It truly does. The small cafe is lovely, clean, new, and bright. The offerings are amazing and varied. The pastries are top notch! I see they have a limited but well curated savory menu of sandwiches and Italian plates. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. So, what's the problem you ask? There's only one table in the place, all the rest of the seating is at a high counter facing a very lovely window. The seating itself, though limited is not the problem either. The problem is that the owner allows the tables to be occupied with friends, family, or whoever those folks may be, all day long. Its highly unprofessional. Having your friends occupy the sole table all day every day sends a very clear message to your patrons. The message is: even though you are the customer, your business is just not worth as much to us as having our friends loaf around all day. I don't prefer to post negative reviews here. That's why I wrote to the bakery directly. They didn't answer me. And the next time I went in, there they were hogging the only decent spot to sit, the crew of people sitting around drinking that I assume is gratis for them. Delicious pastries, no clue how I only recently found out about this place. I have ordered from them twice now, and think this might be one of my favorite bakeries. Have tried their cannolis, cream puffs, and mille feuille. I really like how they do their mille feuille because it isn't overly sweet like many other places. Rebecca's and some other small businesses actually face 21st in a pushed back building so that parking in front could be provided. I just want bread but I couldn't see bread in the case. I asked where the bread was and a lady reached back on a counter and brought out a loaf of wheat bread. No other breads around just a single loaf with no markings or price. She flopped it down and said, "Bread, good for sandwich five dollars". Well that's direct. There is a small selection of pastry but I'm not sure it's really Italian as is marketed, I mean Baklava Italian? There doesn't seem to be any labels or prices on anything. Their specialty is Italian style pastries. I especially like the Zeppole -- if you don't know, that's an Italian doughnut, kind of a sweet bagel or low sugar American raised doughnut. Just great with a coffee on my way to work. Don't forget the cannolis either! Very, very good. I've picked up boxes of assorted pastries for parties and office events: cookies, cake slices, zeppole, cream puffs. Outstanding! I was visiting from the East Coast. Owner waited on me. Could not have been friendlier. My grown son ordered an omelette and waffle combination. He gave me a taste of each and both were fresh and delicious. I ordered an almond croissant that was flaky on the outside and filled with a sweet almond paste. It was fantastic.
