Walked in no one's in line as I walk up an older lady is standing there waiting to take my order cause they're not busy while walking up she just starts coughing doesn't bother to cover her mouth with her hand, cough into her elbow or into a napkin continues to cough as I pull up and then looks at me and just says hello. Doesn't say excuse me doesn't apologize for coughing all over the register and the guests as they walk up if that's how they treat their guests and how they handle themselves when coughing inside of a restaurant I can only imagine what they do behind the scenes while cooking food. I came to La Estrella for guidance to feed 4 hungry Mexican men doing hard work at a construction site. I am a French lady and know nothing about the culture. The men could not speak English and were from deep someplace in Mexico and I needed authentic food. After sharing this information with Elizabeth at the counter she suggested a lot of food that I could not understand what it was but I trusted her and paid $130. The Mexican men did not eat the food only the 4 tacos. There was salad, lots of vegetables, onions, radishes, zucchini, cilantro, many sauces, large flour tortillas and small corn tortillas that one could put together to make something by adding from a box of beans, rice, and some fajitas. No carne salada which I hear the men speak of frequently. Why didn't the men eat as I know they were hungry? There was no place to sit on this construction site, no plates, and it was especially not an environment where one can put together a piece meal such as in a buffet. Next day I learned that maybe burritos, chimichangas, or something like a meal in one could have been better choice out in the elements but I relied on the advice of the expert server behind the counter. The food went to the trash. Can any of you men tell me where I went wrong for this surprise lunch? Such a disappointment. I will speak to the manager. read more

This was busy, nice and clean. The booth was cleaned and there was no line, but every booth was full. I wish I knew how big the portion was, but no complaints I had left overs for dinner. Service was fast, they checked on us a few times & made sure we got everything we needed. They had a self serve salsa station & soda machine. The food was so filling, and was better then I expected in this small town. I would definitely go back, and share one plate with a friend next time. read more

I was really impressed! The food arrived fast, which was perfect because we would have filled up on the chips and dip otherwise. The flavors were delicious and fresh -- everything tasted great. It was a little spicy for my taste, but that just shows they use bold, authentic seasonings. Definitely will order again! read more

Pretty good food, the soft drink dispenser broke and fell in my cup though. Lady gave me a new cup. They had a smoke detector with bad batteries, kept beeping and being loud and annoying but other than that pretty food food. read more

My wife wanted a peppermint milkshake from Chick Fil A , its was 10:30am just missed the breakfast order cutoff I didn't want chicken , right across the street is La Estrella !!! Breakfast burrito , I'm sure they make one .. walked inside greeted by a wall of carrots and oranges , and an o'la from a very pleasant woman behind counter, and that's where it just got better , she listed off the different meats available for the burrito , I looked to kitchen area and saw the huge mass of meat spinning in front of the rotisserie... can I have that on my Burrito , she replied YES .. as I waited for my food I was impressed first by how clean it all was, the size of the restaurant and all the modern menu boards and order processing tech. They have a self serve condiments cart with salsas, pickled onion, jalapeno, cucumber slices, radish and much more , again super clean. Got a couple servings of salsa verde, and went back to waiting for my burrito, on the menu boards were juice drinks .. I was interested but by the time I had translated the ingredients lists , my food arrived. My food was to go , got home to a warm satisfying breakfast, the El pastor Burrito with , eggs , potato's, beans and cheese was very good , generous portion and the green sauce was flavorful, but for me lacked a bit of heat. Ok here you go plain and simple....the food looked great and the taste was bad. We got a super quesadilla carnitas and the tortilla was soaked. It fell apart. The pork was tender but watery with absolutely no flavor. 3 different kinds of salsas couldn't help. We ordered the guacamole bowl and the same thing. Looked great with chunks of alvacado and tomatoes etc but no taste at all. Lastly we ordered the super chicken bowl. Looked great everything was cooked correctly but no f-ing taste. We love taquerias and visit them all over the Bay Area and I'm just shocked this place is in business selling what looked like an authentic Mexican restaurant with bland tasting food like this. I can see eating Mexican food like this in Iowa not a predominantly Mexican area. Sorry I hate writing this but for the $70 lunch I'm so pissed off. read more

Stopped here right before my daughters softball game to grab a small bite. I ordered the Birria Taco and my friend ordered a shrimp taco. Both were delicious. We also really enjoyed the salsa bar! The lady that took our order was helpful with the menu and the restaurant was super clean. If I'm in the area- I would definitely go back! read more

Discovered this place after discovering the eyebrow threading place right next to it and I'm so glad I decided to pick up lunch here! The place I believe is new and very clean. I beat the lunch rush as a line was forming when I was waiting for my food and the tables suddenly were all full(and I literally only waited like 7 minutes). The person behind the register was very nice and recommended the tostada reyna. It was delicious and my husband enjoyed his super burrito as well. Wow! This place is amazing. They have the best salsa bar. Fast service. The fresh jugos are perfect. The only thing I could rate low is the consommé for the quesabirria. It was just a broth without onions, cilantro and red chile. I ended up adding salsa to it and it was better. But either way I would come back here anytime!! The place was packed with people and they still were quick with the orders. So if you see a line of people when you get there don't worry it will go by fast. read more
