I Eat here every time I'm in Ely. It's a great little place. Chips, salsa, and Cabbage right as you are seated. The food is good. Hey man Taco's and beers. It doesn't get any better. The service has been great. "I haven't had any issues. The waitress has a good sense of humor and was very friendly. Your in Ely people! It's a small town. Don't ruin it with bad reviews. The food hits the spot after the 7 hour drive I just had. Some people are just too petty. Stop in and have some shredded beef tacos and beers. And hey, "the beans and rice were pretty damn good too!!! The drinks are good. (What can you expect from a bottle) lol. The margarita was just ok. (No bad enough to remove a star). Nice little spot. We stopped in for dinner since it was recommended, but the service was absolutely terrible! We had to get up and get our own menus, the Chili Colorado was so spicy that I could not eat it, however, the Chili Relleno was very good. I then had to ask 5 times for a to go box and their version of Deep Fried Ice Cream is a scoop of Ice Cream in a deep fried tortilla shell. Passing through Ely on a road trip and stopped in to La Fiesta for dinner. I've had Mexican food around the country and even in Mexico City and this place did not disappoint! Chips, salsa, slaw, and waters brought promptly to the table as we sat. I ordered the carne asada and my mom had the combo chicken and steak fajitas. My meal was delicious, steak thinly cut and marinated nicely. The chicken fajitas were hands down some of the best I've ever had! They were marinated in a lime cumin taste and were just SO tasty! While visiting Utah on a trip from Florida we drove through Nevada to get through the Bonneville Salt Flats. Stopped here for Easter lunch and it was the best choice ever made. In Florida, Spanish food and seafood is a common part of our diets and this was probably the best Spanish food I've ever ate in my life. I ordered the combo fajitas and the meat was so good and juicy, you could even taste the distinct seasonings and marinades used for the meat. I am not professing to you that La Fiesta is authentic (although though tamales tell you otherwise.) But for happy, soul-filing food, this is a great spot. Stopped by for dinner last night. Walked in just before 5pm on a Tuesday night and was promptly seated. Chips, salsa and a chopped cabbage dish was brought out and placed on our table and drink orders taken. The chips and salsa were so fresh tasting and the chips warm. They were so good, we munched away on two bowls before our food came out. Oops My husband ordered the Carne Asada burrito with beans and rice. It arrived piping hot and covered in melted cheese. He liked it. He said the quality of the meat was good and didnt seem grisly. I ordered the Beef fajitas plate with beans and rice. 3 flour tortillas. It arrived sizzling on a cast iron fajita skillet. I ate it with the flour tortillas and it was ok. I tasted the meat without the tortilla, it tasted overly salty and a bit dry. I probably would not order that particular dish for myself again. Over all the staff seemed friendly and attentive. Business was picking up as we were about to leave. I cant say there was anything extra special about the dining experience, but I can say the food and prices were good enough that we would go back when in Ely. read more

They seem to have gotten the word about the cleaning, as the staff was cleaning both the tables and floor as guests would get up to leave. A shredded cabbage dish is served with the chips and salsa. So, my review is that I am certain that we found the best place to eat in Ely. The food was perfectly edible. I've eaten outstanding Mexican food, being from California and now living in Colorado. And while it's not outstanding, it is good, fresh and flavorful. We enjoyed our meal and have no complaints, not about the food or the service, which was very good. From the outside this place looks alright but entering it's very dismal with poor lighting. There's a lot of seating and it's all very open like a cafeteria. The service is okay, it wasn't busy. I was served some chips and salsa quickly. Along with some Pico de gallo that was mostly cabbage and somewhat yellowed. The La Fiesta is better than Taco Bell... but that's not saying much. The food is very gringo-fied - think tons of cheese and no sabor! I had a cheese enchilada and a bean tostada - neither had much in the way of seasoning, nor did the beans or rice that came with it. The husband had a chicken burrito - it had bone fragments in the filling, and also not much flavor. The complimentary shredded cabbage was tasty, but the salsa was a bit watery and, well, didn't have much flavor. We ordered guacamole, and I don't believe much was added to it other than avocado and tomatoes. I have a special comment about the service - our server seemed to have an "I don't care" approach to work... at one point our guacamole was sort of thrown on the table as he walked by it (while he was en route to chat up some girls at another table). My husband and I were a little stunned - that was a first for us! In summary: if you need to eat while driving through Ely, this wouldn't be the worst place to stop. It's rural Nevada "good". La Fiesta is a great Mexican Restaurant! I am from the San Diego area where Mexican Restaurants abound and this place rivals any one of them. I had the chile rellano, which is my personal gauge of good Mexican food and it did not disappoint! Also had the "cholesterol free" beans. The name is deceptive. These pinto beans cooked with onions, tomatoes and cilantro are to die for! The name on the menu does not do them justice. Add to that the friendly servers and atmosphere and you can't go wrong. All of these time honored memories come to mind when I ponder the condition of the fine establishment that is La Fiesta. If you didn't already know, la fiesta is a Spanish term, which has no direct translation. In the same sense that no other human being on this Sheryl-less rock will ever be able to replace my dearly departed, no phrase in the English language can replace the beauty of this Spanish colloquialism. Let's talk about the food. Can we talk about the food? To use a quotation from my angel Sheryl ,"It's alright I guess." She always had such a way with words. These dishes are bursting with queso. They are dripping with enchilada sauce and they are foaming at the mouth with authenticity. The fractured skull of my enchilada is spewing thick globs of beef. if I'm honest, the real reason I eat at this fine cantina is because consuming an inordinate amount of beans smothered in a underpaid workers brow sweat is the only way I can fill the void that has been left in my heart. Our family met here for dinner while we were visiting. They handled our large party well. No draft beer but plenty of varieties in bottles. I was hoping for albondigas soup but they don't have that. Our server suggested Campechana on the menu. It was so impressive. I'm not a fishy soup lover and was worried that since it had shrimp and octopus it would be fishy. Not one bit! It was delicious and I'm hoping to find a recipe to recreate this at home! They also serve the most interesting salsa made with cabbage. Delish! Nice meal in Ely. Friendly service and above-average Mexican food. We had the chalupa plate (with chicken) and a Chile Colorado burrito. Excellent rice and refried beans with a distinct (and delicious) red chili flavor. The strawberry margarita was large but not all that awesome. Excellent salsa and a unique and yummy cabbage salad with chips. Very friendly waitress and bus-person who were both attentive and engaged even on a reasonably busy Saturday evening. If you have a small to normal appetite, think about ordering a la carte - the portions are large and with an entree with beans and rice, you'll either be uncomfortably full or have leftovers. I would definitely eat there again. It's nothing spectacular, but it's good, well-executed Mexican food and good service. read more

All of the parking spaces were full, but I wasn't daunted and parked half-way down the block and walked back. Glad I did! The place was busy but the staff seemed to have everything under control.
