    The guacamole was suspect, too.

Ely is growing. Seems like there's something new every time I roll through. There's no chance that it'll be another LA, LA land,... but on second thought it just may. It sure enough was for me, because I stayed at LA Quinta hotel, and ate at LA Fiesta restaurant. In my opinion, the name of the restaurant should be Blah Fiesta. Everything on the plate was ehh. I mean it was there alright. But as far as taste goes, well let's put it this way, have you ever been spraying yourself with bug spray and accidentally gotten some of it in your mouth? Yep. It's like that. The beans and rice were atrocious, and the Chile Rellenos weren't far behind. Not far behind at all. The plate was full, but half of it bit the dust. I couldn't go any further. Sorry mom, I didn't clean my plate. I should have realized that it was no good when I didn't see any Hispanic servers, or for that matter, no Hispanic customers! Quick Tip: The walls are plastered with faces celebrating their birthdays. They're all wearing the celebratory Sombrero. Hmmm, I wonder how many times the inside of that hat has been washed. I'm sure they sell Nix Ultra at the Ridleys Family Market up the street.

Stopped for the night in Ely, Nevada, and left to wonder where to go for dinner with my Mom. We had been in the car all day as were looking for something walking distance from the motel. La Fiesta was an easy 290 foot walk away according to Google, that was perfect. The reviews were all over the place, so I was not sure what to expect when I walked in the door. John D described this place as the "whitest Mexican restaurant you will ever set foot in". He was not too far from wrong. Young surfer dude was working the register and seating people. Our waitress, who was amazing, looked like she would be more at home in a diner than a Mexican place. But it was crowded, looked like locals mostly, and the food on the tables looked good. The menu was thorough with all the classics, our awesome waitress helped find something my mom could handle spice level wise. She ordered a small chicken nacho and a margarita. I ordered the Burrito Colorado because for me a good Chili Colorado means the place knows what they are doing. Was not but a few minutes later when the food arrived. Super-hot plates! That is a good thing. The chili Colorado passed muster and I was happy. One word of caution though, the refried beans were *loaded* with cayenne pepper. They had a healthy amount of kick and it was all front heat. So beware the beans! Overall, I liked the place and the staff, and I would come back here again. Not sure when life will take me back to Ely, but if it does I know where to go.

Shredded beef, taco cheese enchilada, chile rellano all great!

Driving up north and didn't want fast food but we found this obviously well established Mexican restaurant with fast service and wonderful food! Great Prices too.

Just passing through on the way to Vegas. Read the reviews and I was pleasantly surprised! Service was fast and friendly and food decent. Salsa was spicy the way I like it and chips were fresh. Margaritas were not bad as well. For the price, convince and speed this was great!

Been coming here for years , best Mexican food in ely , the new salsa bowls are a joke . So small you can't even dip a damn chip . But the food is still excellent

Our non-water beverage was Athletic NA IPA. Dessert, Carrot Cake and Coffee. We split one plate and left the table feeling well-fed, not disturbingly stuffed. The pork chop was thick, tender and flavorful. The salad fresh and diverse, dressed to remind me of the former Evah's House of Steak. Brussels Sprouts, slightly steamed. dressed with balsamic vinegar. Scalloped potatoes mildly cheesy. Carrot Cake Big Slice, not over-iced or too suite. Coffee a strong Americano, steamed frothy. The Athletic was an interesting NA beer. Really Hoppy, strong pinyness, slightly bitter finish. Great choice for an occasion. May 9, 2026 - $92. Far better than dropping $50 in the slots snd having a burger later. Complimentary postcard.

The food truck is set right in the middle of the cabins that the owners also run, and the whole setup has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. There are two small patio areas where you can sit outside, rest after hiking, and enjoy the mountain air while eating something fresh and comforting. Sandra herself was an absolute pleasure to talk to. She shared parts of her story with me, a story of immigration, resilience, hard work, and success that genuinely warmed my heart. You can feel that this business was built with determination, hope, and a lot of love behind it. The food was excellent. We ordered chips and salsa, pork street tacos, and a chicken salad, and everything tasted fresh and homemade, care came through in every bite. Simple, authentic, sincere food done really well. After days of standard road-trip meals, this felt refreshing and personal in the best way. Overall, if you are in Baker after hiking or exploring Great Basin National Park, this is absolutely worth stopping for. Good food, kind people, and the kind of small business story that reminds you why local places matter.

The restaurant is located inside the hotel, but has its own walkway entrance from street side. Traditional original old school interior, has a certain charm to it, nothing fancy but clean, comfortable and plenty of space around you. This eatery is family run and operated, and the service is friendly and kind. I had several different family members wait on me or stop by my table to check on me during my meal and visit. I opted for the Chili Rellenos, a pair of beautifully prepared cheese filled rellenos with rice and beans, along with a lemonade. Served with a basket of house chips and two salsas. My entree was very good, the pablanos were nicy prepared and stuffed and breaded in a traditional manner. Flavorful and well seasoned, a solid choice if I like rellenos, this is a good plate. I enjoyed my meal at a relaxed pace and made to feel at home while there. A fair price with good service. Worth a visit and your support. 4 Stars recommended 01019

For my second coarse I ordered the Chicken Mole. The mole sauce was wonderful. This time I chose the corn tortillas. I had a second beer. This is a family run business which has been here since 2023.
