La Fiestas is sometimes good, sometimes really good and sometimes not so great. My son and I went yesterday and had the best waiter his name was Fernando. We added cilantro and tomatoes to the cheese sauce and it was pretty good like that. he had the veggie chimichanga which he said was very good. I had the buffet. Which was good and bad yesterday. The beans were runny, the grilled veggies were not the best, but I always like their tacos, cheese tacos and most of the time their potatoes and with those few things I was full. Their salsa is not the best to me it tastes a little like spaghetti sauce. so if salsa is that important to you maybe bring your own r don't go here. However, I personally have never had bad service there. The ambiance is like any other mid level Mexican restaurant. I saw someone said there is no music here and I haven't ever been three when no music was playing in the background. maybe it was playing very low or someone asked them to turn it off that day? read more

The staff here is always great for us. it's a large restaurant with a nice little outdoor sitting area. Quaint little place. The food is Tex Mex, a little on the bland side which seems to be the case at most Tex Mex places. The chicken and beef fajita meat could use more seasonings, there's not much and the flavor from the grilling process is absent as well. Definitely needs peppers or salsa to add some flavor. I am going to give this place a 2-star just because I didn't order off the menu. Saw some plates that went by off the menu and looked much better than buffet. I would not recommend the buffet. Was in a rush so tried the buffet. I did not find anything on there that was good. Best thing was enchiladas and they were rubbery. I will go back at some point and order off the menu. I hate to write because we have eaten at the Cleburne location for many, many years. The food has been very good on the overall, but lately something is lacking. Today for lunch I order the Flautas Lunch Plate, beef. When I bit into the flauta it was bland. I mean no seasoning at all, just browned meat. They never taste like this. I love the flautas but today was awful. I let waitress know and was told she "didn't make them", and "tell the manager". Hmmm... So we told the manager and he just ignored the statement and took our money. It was like no one cared that the food was awful today. Oh well. I have never given a one star before because I usually find something good about a place. We waited over 10 minutes to be seated. The hostess told me "just a minute" and went in the back. By the time she came back out, there was a line to check out and she went to them. I asked a passing waitress to seat us and she was visibly irritated. We asked to sit on the patio and she said no that they only had two waiters. They were obviously not understaffed. Waiter was terrible and the food was just barely better than a Pancho's. La Fiesta.... I have been going periodically to this restaraunt for over 20 years. The place on Main is the second establishment for its Flagship location. The best waiter there is Gabriel, hands down. If you tip well the waitstaff take uber good care of you. Always ask for Gabriel and tip him for a job well-done. The management team is also very good. Ramon and Jose will always make whatever you want to have happen; happen. The food from the buffet always tastes a little different to me from when I order something from the menu. My fave choices off the menu are: Fajitas! I would get combo so you can have the spiciness of the beef and the lemon-lime zestiness of the chicken. Be careful though, sodium content is high so I would be careful what I ate before and after. The fajitas come out sizzling and smell delicious. They are accompanied by fresh rice, beans, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream and guacamole. You also get homemade corn or flour tortillas. Delicioso! The chimichangas! A crispy shell with beef, chicken or fajita meat warm inside, smothered with queso. Cheese taco dinner! My ultimate fave dish. I get it with double beans, rice is not something I eat often. I could eat their cheese tacos all day. Chicken enchilada dinner! Also delightful. The sour cream sauce is amazing and better than some of the other places I've been too. I also enjoy their fried ice cream. They special make it for me because I am allergic to cinnamon. Buffet items I enjoy as well. Fajita buffet is really good and the chicken tortilla soup is awesome. Food is always hot and replaced quickly. You can even watch them make the tortillas. The great thing about the restaurant is after 20+ years the food is consistent. The beans always taste wonderful and the tortillas are fresh. Two things that I noticed here on seeing some reviews. Queso: They handmake the queso with real cheese. They also freshly cut the spices and vegetables that they put it in. For those of you who can't handle the radioactive orange coloring (its been that way since the dawn of La fiesta) they have a queso blanco which is a toned down but still delicious version. Salsa: the salsa is always freshly made and stirred to keep the chunky ingredients from separating and floating to the top. I can always tell when the salsa has not been mixed well, but it is always fresh. How do I know this, you ask? 20 years ago I worked at a fast-food place that was owned by the same people and WATCHED and learned how the food was made. Went out to Glen Rose and stopped here on way home. Cashier at the Tractor Supply Store suggested it. Great buffet for $9.99. Their chicken enchiladas, the beans, rice and regular tacos were all great. There is a mini food bar for a simple lettuce and tomato salad and banana pudding for dessert. Waitress was prompt and didn't forget about us. There is also a regular menu to order from also. We are very stuffed and happy Customers. Simple yummy comfort foods are always best!! read more

When you first pull up, you think that it is just another hole in the wall Mexican restaurant... well it is. I believe that those are usually the best and boy does La Fiesta get your palette working. I absolutely love this place. The food is top notch is taste and the hot sauce is to die for. I would eat this everyday if I could. We had a much better experience there, today. I got the Pronto Buffet (six items) and a tea since I wasn't feeling overly hungry. Other times that I've come here, when you ask for chili on your tamales, they'd just scoop it up from the side of the enchilada pan and toss it on there. This time, I was told that I was supposed to ask my server to get me some. So, naturally I was a bit confused and stood there a moment before it seeped into my head. After arriving back at the table, I told the waitress that I'd like chili for my tamales and she looked at me with the same confused expression that I had used earlier while in line. She went back to the buffet and asked for some chili, but the lady there said she had to go get it from the kitchen. A short while later, she returned with a bowl of chili sauce. We got into a friendly conversation about it and neither one of us knew why they didn't just toss it on there from the buffet line. But hey, it was hot and fresh and I got more than enough to cover all of the tamales with some extra left over for dipping the chips into. I'm almost tempted to order just the bowl of chili next time and covering it over a plate of chips and cheese. Might be able to get by with just the cost of a drink, that way. :) But I think I'll settle for the Pronto Buffet. It was just enough food to fill me up, and it was a lot better than that other visit. The salsa actually had flavor to it this time, which surprised me, and the beans were pretty good. The Spanish rice wasn't quite as good as before, but the service and other items more than made up for it. I'm raising my rating by two because of it. read more

I wish I had known how bad the queso was before I ordered a chimichanga covered in queso. The queso is neon orange and seems like it might be reconstituted powdered cheese? They were advertising new flavored drinks and when we asked for them they said they were out! Their food presentation is terrible. My brother ordered a chicken quesadilla and was surprised with small tortillas sprinkled with a few drops of cheese. The food looked as if it could make you sick. First time here and it took 15 minutes to get seated and we were the only group waiting . There were two of us. We asked to sit on the patio and the lady seating us said very rudely, No, we only have 2 waitresses and her back was to us! She didn't want to seat us and let us know it was not her job!!!! There was a table of 4 on the patio. I would understand if she was nicer in her delivery, but she was rude! And then where she sat us down, the table was dirty and the seats had food in them. We cleaned our own table! We decided to give it a try and waited 4 minutes for our waiter to come by. He took our drinks order and left. When he came back to take our order, it wasn't what he said, because he said nothing! We ordered and he walked off! Why 2 stars? The water was good and he did return to fill our glasses once. The food? It was not good! I ordered from the menu as I don't eat buffets and hubs got the buffet. The food was not tasty and it was over priced! We will not be back! We should have left and gone next door to eat when we waited so long to get seated but wanted to give it a try! Never again! We read on yelp that they strive to give great customer service! Tacos al carbon are great. I usually order to go it's fresh and they give plenty. The buffet has some traditional items and some you won't find anywhere else. Fajitas are always good the best in town. The buffet allows for a quick in and out. My husband and two young kids ate here for dinner on a Sunday since it was the only Mexican restaurant open that I could find. I had read the yelp reviews prior to eating here, and didn't expect much. I wasn't disappointed since it was pretty abysmal. They asked for smoking or non, which I found to be quite antiquated, but sat in the non-smoking section anyway. The chips were good, the salsa was pretty much canned I think. There wasn't much flavor to it, and the tomatoes were soft. So I was about ready to leave because to me, the salsa indicates the quality of the food. To be honest, Pace canned salsa or Herdez tastes far better than what they served. Being vegetarian, we ordered meatless entrees consisting of cheese/onion enchiladas, bean burritos for the kids, and a bean burrito for my husband. When they brought my enchildas I was completely taken aback by the neon orange sauce on the top of my enchiladas. Not red enchilada sauce, not green....ORANGE. We're talking emergency traffic cone orange. I don't know how I kept myself from laughing out loud when she handed me my plate. Probably because I was being polite. The kids burritos they messed up and had to make again, and they brought their bean burritos/rice/bean plates out WITH THE SAME SCARY SAUCE! Who does that on a bean burrito? The only thing I can figure is that it's some "signature" sauce they probably add to everything. To be fair, I did taste it, just because it looks like it came from the mouth of a road cone, doesn't mean it necessarily tastes bad....oh wait. yes it does. First, let me say: I love cheese. Cheese and crackers i my all time favorite snack. Cheese pizza is my fav indulgence. Nachos and enchiladas are my favorite "Mexican" foods. This weird bright orange thing was NOT cheese. Canned nacho cheese would have tasted better, and would have resembled cheese. I honestly don't know what it was. I scraped it off and ate my enchildas. Refried beans and rice were underseasoned but edible. My kids didn't touch their burritos, but used the chips to dip into their beans and rice as a makeshift nacho dinner. I was expecting great food since the parking lot is always packed, but then after leaving the restaurant i realized there are apartments next door, i think it looks busy because of overflow parking.
