Very salty food! We went a few times and unfortunately won't be back until the health score with the health department goes up to near 95% to 100%. They have several violations.

Friendly joint with fast service - but average food. That's the game...cook it fast, serve 'em quickly and turn 'em over. I saw a lot of ankle biters in tow with big families so imagining this is a good spot to bring humans of all ages as long as 'great food' is of no concern. SHRIMP CHIMICHANGA - 1 star. They mucked it up making it soaking wet to the point of liquid chimichanga spilling on to my plate when I cut into it. The shrimp came out of a freezer in the back and lacked any discernible shrimp flavor. Which lead me to ponder...was it actually shrimp - or a factory recreation of the normally free-swimming crustacean? REFRIED BEANS and SPANISH RICE - 2.5 stars. Average. CHIPS & SALSA - 2.5 stars. Average. Decent salsa flavors but too watery / needs to be thicker with more pico de gallo elements (fresh onions, peppers, tomatoes - you'll get none of that here) The chips were oily/greasy. Not the dry, crispy and flaky basket of chips a man can only dream of. MODELO ESPECIAL - 5 stars. Ice cold. Refreshing. but hey...It's Beer.

Love, love and love this place. Being from AZ, we have tons of good Mexican restaurants. I was not sure what I would find in this quaint little town. However this is a gem. I went here, multiple times. For actual food, my go to is the chicken chimi. The cheese sauce is yummy and the guacamole is delicious. The chips and salsa are good. However the reason I kept returning was...fried ice cream and flan!! The flan is creamy, I had it with and without chocolate sauce. I prefer with out. Same as the fried ice cream...love them both. It is a family rum business. The older siblings are very nice. I spoke to who I believe is the older brother and sister, so kind. Every time I come back to Illinois, this is q place I will visit.

Most authentic Mexican food I've had in central Illinois. Reasonably priced. Fast and friendly service. I will be coming back.

Nothing fancy - but good, cheap, fast Mexican. Good for groups although the atmosphere is lacking. Very good fajitas.

I didn't understand why at first, but then we noticed that most of the chairs were already stacked on the tables and the staff was sweeping the floor. I asked if they were closed, but the man at the door said they were still open, so we were seated. Before we even had a chance to look at the menu, a server came over and told us we needed to move because they were about to mop that section. We moved without complaint. Our food came out fairly quickly, and it actually tasted good. Unfortunately, right as we started eating, they began mopping the floors with some kind of strong cleaner that made us nauseated. They mopped right by our table--my husband even joked that he was surprised they didn't ask us to lift our feet. By that point, several employees already had their coats on and were giving us looks like they just wanted us gone. We felt rushed, uncomfortable, and couldn't even finish our meal because of the chemical smell. The food itself was good, but the experience was terrible. No restaurant should start mopping floors with harsh cleaners while customers are still eating. That's just basic common sense. We won't be back.
