Happy to find a La Fitness near our hotel with a basketball court. My son was able to warm up and practice over the weekend we were here for travel ball. I've been coming to this gym for the last several years and the last few months have been unbearable. Let's start with cleanliness. I've found multiple roaches near the stretching pads and was told they sprayed for pesticides. Not sure if that was inside but what are the lovely health benefits of rolling around in pesticides, dust bunnies and sweat! The problem might be the front desk staff trying to hit on people just trying to workout while one 60+ year old janitor is on shift busting their back (all the respect in the world for these ladies btw). The sauna is not very clean with sweaty paper towels stuffed in the corners. The bathroom drain is always backed up and a plumbing company is there almost monthly to snake them. Second issue, staff. Machines are constantly broken and take months to repair. Not all but a few workers will get a nice little lift in while clocked in, leaving weights behind and front desk unattended letting the floodgates of high schoolers in for social hour. I'm willing to guess a majority of them don't have memberships. Third, the environment. The shift from going to the gym for a workout has shifted to chasing tail and creepy games of eye tag with grown men hunting girls down, like a lion on the Serengeti. What goes from a simple hello turns into a 30 min conversation blocking the only machine that this place has. I've tried showing up at a different times to avoid all of these issues and seem to get faced by all them at once every time. I just want to end this with, I've never written a review before but just seeing LA Fitness falling apart is not a pretty sight. Closing nicer facilities around the valley that offered better amenities such as steam rooms, towels, a clean pool and spa has not been a smart move. Keep up the outstanding work fellas!!! read more

This LA Fitness has gone downhill fast. The gym is completely overrun by high school kids who treat it like a hangout instead of a place to work out. Groups crowding machines, yelling, filming, and being a general disturbance to everyone around them. It makes it nearly impossible to get a serious workout in. The staff does absolutely nothing about it. No enforcement, no supervision, no effort to maintain a respectful environment. On top of that, the bathrooms are always disgusting -- dirty, poorly stocked, and clearly neglected. If you're older and can come early in the morning, it's tolerable before the kids show up. Late at night is slightly better crowd-wise, but the place is still dirty as hell regardless of the time. Overall, horrible management, poor cleanliness, and zero control over the chaos. Definitely not worth the membership unless you enjoy noise, mess, and frustration. read more

Great gym always friendly staff. Front desk always has a smile and greets you when you come in and leave. Very clean location.

Lots of free parking! Easy to get in and out of and lots of machines to use. I currently belong to a competitor gym but sometimes, it's nice to see what other gyms offer. I noticed that they have a 3 day guest pass online and that the yoga classes, in which, I'm interested in, are only held during certain days and times varying by location. I'd recommend trying this gym out or one of their locations, and comparing which works best for you. read more

Honestly one of the worst gym experiences I've had. The equipment is either broken or always in use, and the staff doesn't seem to care at all. The place is overcrowded, dirty, and half the time the machines aren't even wiped down. They advertise as a 'judgment free zone' but it feels more like chaos with no structure or accountability. On top of that, canceling a membership is a nightmare -- they make it way harder than it should be. Definitely not worth the monthly fee when there are cleaner, better-run gyms around. read more

The gym is in a convenient location and overall has plenty of workout (weights) equipment and space. However, the cardio machines upstairs are very outdated and always seem to be broken and rarely checked. They can be broken for months and it takes a long time to get them fixed only to break down again. Many of the machines don't have a "smooth ride" any longer due to their age and can be very loud/clunky. It would be nice if LA Fitness would invest in newer cardio equipment at this location. Lack of customer service and followthrough. We have been members for a few years with LA Fitness. This year I went to add a family member back and that's when I realized the lack of customer service. I have spent hours talking with them to try to resolve an issue where one of their employees provided us pricing that they will not honor. This employee was let go from my understanding. I had a Black Friday deal that they will not honor. They completely messed up my account and will not make it right. No one has ever returned a call to me and I have spoken to many at LA Fitness Chandler along with calling their customer service line. I have since canceled my membership and now disputing charges. The managers have no authority to make any decisions when pricing mistakes are made. I have now moved to Mountainside Fitness. They had better pricing, worked with me more and so much more is included with my membership than at LA Fitness. Also I noticed in the last several months at LA Fitness that they had machines out of order for weeks before getting fixed. Over priced for what you get. There are lots of other better options. The gym itself is ok, but never talk to their trainers. Google it. They'd pressure you to sign up. No tactic, very aggressive and rude. One of their trainers (a salesman) said they offer a month free personal training session. And that's a fraud. On the first day he'd spend 40min on sitting and talking, tries to make you buy a year training session. Once you showed no interest, he started acting like he got no education. LA Fitness BBB Complaint for Deceitful sales tactics and extremely poor management We had been coming consistently every week for a couple months until our most recent visit on May 2nd 2024. During this particular visit we walked in and checked in as normal but we were stopped and questioned by the front desk manager about my girlfriend as my account did not have guest privileges attached even though within the contract it states that with my purchases of training sessions I get two 30-day guest passes per month and I also received verbal agreement from the salesman that I was able to bring my girlfriend to the training sessions which we had been doing for months at this point. The front desk manager continued to say in front of us that this has happened multiple times before with other customers yet it shouldn't be but this is the customers fault, interesting perspective from a manager. She then had us speak to the general manager who told us it was fine if we trained together with our trainer Matthew this session but she will be unable to come in next week or any future week as she does not have her own membership. Considering that I had a verbal agreement, legally binding for up to a year in Arizona, that allowed me and my girlfriend to come in and train together as well as two guest passes that I am eligible to use each month I was taken back by the fact that the General Manager was able to only provide one solution to this problem and that was to sell us on another membership. This instantly put me off as he was only trying to sell us on something instead of actually solving a problem that is stemming from his employees. He continued to speak about how he is the general manager but there was nothing he could do for us since he looked up who sold me the sessions but could not find anything in his system yet this is the customers fault, interesting perspective from a general manager. I continue to explain the situation and he begins to call me a liar and asks me how could I prove this to him, I was floored to say the least as this comment is something you should NEVER say to a customer. At this point I didn't care what the manager had to say and all I wanted was to cancel my membership. He said I would have to cancel my membership through my work online but said that I had to cancel my training sessions through the front desk manager, so what does this general manager even actually do aside from provide hostile situations to get sales from people and comment rude things about his customers. I am not sure if this is the culture across all LA Fitness locations but this type of behavior should be investigated on an internal level as well as from the BBB. I left the general managers desk and I walk up to the front desk manager and asked to cancel my training sessions, during this time the general manager was still pushing my girlfriend to sign up but she had no interest in it after the interaction we just had with him. Beginning my conversation with the front desk manager I stated I wanted to cancel the training sessions and she only kept repeating she can't, she is unable to and finally said that it is because there is a payout for the remaining sessions. I had stated that the contract is null and void at this point due to the fact that the business is not longer upholding their end of the deal and are not looking to uphold their end of the deal therefore I will not be paying the buyout fee. This is when she grabbed three other members contracts, which has personal info such as name/number/address/partial credit card info, as well as my contract and stapled them together and gave them to me. As she handed me the papers she stated that I can have my lawyer review them and this is the route I will be taking as verbal agreements are legally binding for up to a year in Arizona and we haven't even been under contract for 6 months yet. I am currently in communication with my lawyer regarding the matter of the buyout fee. The General Manager named Gregory J. and the Front desk manager named Francheska K. are the two managers me and my girlfriend interacted with during this encounter on May 2nd 2024. As an outcome I would like the business to own up to their employees mistakes and wave the cancellation fee and in addition to waving the fees I would like an internal review on both of these managers business practices as the google reviews reflect similar issues that I addressed from both employees. read more

I met Kathy Pride 7 years ago at the LA Fitness on Gilbert Road. I was delighted to see her at the Ocotillo location this fall when I joined there. Being from another state and not knowing anyone, Kathy was welcoming 7 years ago. That quality has not changed. Additionally, Kathy is such a dedicated worker. You never see her sitting still. Normally I don't like to post negative reviews but the women's locker room needs to be deep cleaned badly! I'm surprised OSHA hasn't given them a fine. The sinks are disgusting, the floors are dirty, several times the soap dispenser has been empty. Management really needs to hold their team accountable in ensuring the locker rooms are clean. In the photo the hair in the sink has been there for weeks. That to me is unacceptable and should be for the owner who runs it. It makes me wonder when the last time door handles, towel dispensers, sauna benches, etc. We're sanitized?? Do a better job at cleaning the locker room and the leader on duty should inspect it. read more

I am updating my previous post on LA Fitness on AZ ave and Ocotillo. The manager of this location reached out to me to provide an explanation of my complaint. I am impressed that he took the time to do so. He stated that his staff was in error by asking for my car keys and took it upon himself to correct that behavior. There was much more stated in his response that showed me he cared about his customers so I am satisfied that he will do what is necessary to correct some of the issues. Giving 4 stars here only because the bathrooms and the locker rooms could be a bit cleaner but it's not a deal breaker for me by any means. All gyms are generally the same. Their one goal is to get you to sign up, then hopefully not show up. They all charge you an annual "equipment fee" and then neglect the equipment. What makes this location EXTRAORDINARY is their complete lack of caring. After only 5-6 years of being open they completely shut down this location for 10 days to "renovate". Renovate what? After a few years what can you actually need to renovate? I get if you want to paint a wall or move some equipment but you can do that without closing the entire gym. Their solution of course is to send you 20 minutes away. Most of us work out in the morning or after work. Adding 20 minutes each way to commute to the gym is unacceptable. I've been a member at a dozen gyms over the years and have never seen this level of arrogance. My wife and I just renewed. I DARE you to offer us a refund. I'll be right over to get it. I signed up for a 3 day pass at the 3985 S Arizona Ave location out of sheer convenience b/c this is the closest gym to me. I had read the reviews but went anyways because...well..,convenience. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but this experience left me feeling like I was dealing with a used car salesman. The manager Greg is pushy, I got called numerous times over the course of my 3 day pass, sometimes multiple times a day. The gym itself is subpar, but I will say there is plenty of parking. LA Fitness really needs to read these reviews and focus on customer service. The pushy and demanding sales tactics are a complete turn off and unfortunately, that is what LA Fitness is known for. This LA Fitness is prone to get busy especially after school gets out--since it is across the street from Hamilton High. Downside of this location is that it's pretty small overall, there's only 3 squat racks, basketball court is smaller than normal (basically no 3 point line on the sides), doesn't have racquetball courts like other locations. Also have had issues with people at the front desk. Been bounced around when asking for assistance when trying to adjust my membership. Told by various workers that another person would take care of me, came back on different days because they weren't there. And then finally told that only one person had the clearance to do it and she only works at a time frame when I was unable to come in. Ended up going to the other location off of the 202 and Gilbert--and their front desk person was much nicer, and changed my adjusted my membership right then and there. read more
