This is hands down the best Moutainside in the valley! I signed up for Moutainside in North Scottsdale but I travel all the way to this location just to experience this club! It is built better than any of the other clubs! It's fairly new but it's built better than the newest locations. I enjoy playing basketball here and can get some pretty good two on two games going with the guys that go here! The customer service is outstanding! Everyone from the general manager to the front desk guys and girls are so friendly and helpful! I was looking for the nearest pool and they took the time out of their day to find the closest pool and hours! I think every club needs to have a good set of personal trainers! I was able to work briefly with Shad! He didn't have a client at the time and he was able to show me a few shoulder workouts! That is what you call love for the job because most trainers would have been focused on booking you but he just wanted to help me get my shoulder workout done right! Thank you so much for taking that time to work with me! I look forward to training with your team in the near future... Thank you all for the amazing customer service! I've been a member at Mountainside Fitness in Gilbert for about a year and a half, and unfortunately my last experience was disappointing enough that I canceled my membership. One morning I was taking my 2-year-old to the Kid Zone when he urgently needed to use the restroom. We were clearly in a rush, but the front desk employee stopped me and insisted I scan a QR code before letting us pass. The interaction felt unnecessarily strict and passive-aggressive. If I didn't have a membership, I wouldn't even be able to use the Kid Zone, so the situation could have been handled with a little more understanding given that I was trying to help my child get to the restroom. What made the experience worse was the tone. It felt like a scene was made in front of my child over something that could have been handled calmly and quickly. For a gym that charges close to $50 a month, I would expect a higher level of customer service and basic courtesy. I spoke with someone at the register afterward and was told the manager would be informed, but it has been over two weeks and I haven't received any follow-up or apology. Between that experience and the already high membership price (especially considering the sauna often smells unpleasant), I decided to cancel my membership. I'm very disappointed and will be going to a different gym moving forward. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this location based on my experience. read more

5 Star rating doesn't seem high enough for this review. We had a slight issue but because of Shad Andreas (the new personal training manager) top-notch customer service skills, fast thinking and his constant communication with me, he came through with flying colors and I was totally satisfied and happy with the outcome. Shad worked hard to make things right and it showed, very much appreciated. What a fantastic decision to transfer him to this facility in Gilbert to "fix" things, he definitely is in the right spot and will go far. During my dealings with Shad last week, I dealt with numerous others that definitely deserve recognition for their patience, helpfulness and just being kind over the phone. Chase was the one answering the phone and wanting to help, good listener and never just transferred me to get me off his line, he truly wanted to make sure I got to the right person. Andrew, the assistant manager is also in the right position, he truly is there to serve MountainSide's customers. Last but not least is Chandler the manager, talk about making things happen for the good of the customers and the follow up is amazing, something you don't find anymore. I was going to cancel since they moved locations from Val Vista to Gilbert rd but I haven't really found any other gym I like in terms of layout and classes. Now what's most exciting is that they have been doing renovations and it is starting to look more like all of the other locations I am used to which I like it better, neutral colors and the red accents. I also love that they are building an additional sauna room and it will be for infrared sauna, so now two options for sauna dry or infrared so yeah looks like I will be staying, Classes are always lovely too & staff is friendly! read more

Went to visit my son for the holidays and needed to keep up my workout routine. This is my son's gym so I thought I'd check it out. The place is very clean, lots of great equipment, updated, and a VERY friendly staff. Notably I'd like to point out two individuals that went over and above customer service; Bradford and Kylee Blair. They were very welcoming from the start, always seemed in a great mood, and just a super nice couple. I go to the area to visit family once a year, and will always plan on getting my monthly membership when there. Keep up the great workout environment!! read more

I came in recently to use the 5-day pass while I was waiting for my car at the dealership. I told the front desk that upfront, and they said it was no problem gave me a tour, had me fill out a form, and let me work out. Later on, the sales associate who gave me a tour of the gym tried to guilt trip me after holding to my ID into paying a $10 fee, saying the pass was only for people considering a membership. However, no one mentioned this at the beginning, and I was upfront that I was just trying to get a workout while waiting for my car at the dealership. When I first asked in person if I needed to sign up or if someone could help me, a respectful staff member told me the sales associate would assist me, so I never even got a chance to read the terms of service. I also didn't see any clear signage about "being interested in being a member" until I later found the terms of service, which was hidden and difficult to navigate. I'm not trying to start drama just wanted to say that if there are specific rules like that, they should be communicated up front. I didn't mean to break any policy, but it came off like a bait-and-switch. I'm saying so this nobody else feels put on the spot or embarrassed. I appreciated the hospitality, but I just want transparency. It's not about the money it's the principle if someone came up and told me that upfront I would of paid and not utilized the 5 day free pass but instead it turned to an awkward and disrespectful situation between me and the saleswoman. I Just wanted transparency that's all. Other than that the gym is probably one of the biggest I been to other than a lifetime fitness which is obviously insanely massive compared to mountainside but this location is definitely awesome after its renovations. read more

I just moved back to Chandler Gilbert area and noticed this gym changed names again, it used to be LA fitness, then ESporta (which I was members at both) so I toured the Mountainside gym and upon walking in I said "wow". It looks wayyy better than the previous two gyms. So aesthetically this gym is nice. The guy who gave me a tour, Bradford, was nice and informative, nor did he pressure me into getting a membership so I felt good about that. I signed up immediately actually because Bradford was so nice and not like other gyms where you feel pressured to sign up right away. I've been coming here for 2-3 weeks now and I love it. The machines are nice and layout is good. The kids club is the best kids club I've ever taken my daughter to! Way better than gym like Lifetime which is super expensive. Honestly the kids club alone was reason enough to sign up. It's big, has a basketball court, an inflatable obstacles course, a theater room and lots of toys and space to play. The ladies in there all seem attentive and friendly :) The staff all seems nice so far. Chandler the manager is young dude running the gym, he seems humble and friendly, I had a good convo with him. Bradford always greets me. Same with Tailor Palmer. The other Taylor always greets me friendly manner when I come check in. The trainers seem legit. Ella is super sweet and friendly and says hi. I did my consultation with Ariana and she was stellar. Couldn't be more pleased with how my initial consultation went. She went above and beyond explaining so much to me and she didn't make me feel rushed or dumb when I was asking questions. She's very fit and friendly so she will make you feel comfortable while giving you personal training. She gave me a solid workout and I was feeling sore in my glutes and hammies the next day, the good kind of sore meaning she worked my muscles! One of the best trainers I've ever met and I have a lot of experience going to different gyms across the US. I highly recommend booking training with Ariana, she'll get your health/physique where you want it. My only complaint about the gym is they got rid of the full court basketball court and made it a half court :((( that's why I'm keeping my LA FITNESS membership too. But the court is still well maintained and I enjoy going to shoot around and work on my fundamentals. I'll update my review as time goes on but so far, I love it here. The gym itself is a very strange but spacious layout. The staff, however, was very disappointing. Let me just preface this long, NEGATIVE review with the fact that my girlfriend and I have been coming to Mountainside Fitness for over 9 years. She had a membership before we met and when we met she had been going for 6 years. She talked me into joining, so I joined. Now we're at 9 years. The first "issue" we had, which really wasn't so much of an issue as it was a failure on MSF to stand by their word, happened a couple years ago. My girlfriend's son broke his toe on the bouncy house at Kids Club. Okay, no big deal, things happen. We are pretty certain it wasn't really any fault of the staff. But what the staff decided to do as a sign of good gesture is issue us 3 months of membership credits. So, of course we agreed. Turns out, we were still charged and I did not notice it till many months later. I called them, they apologized and said that this time, they will be sure and issue the credits. They did. Secondly, and this was more recent, my girlfriend had personal training set up and she did not know that she was basically in a contract and could not exit out of the contract without a formal, written, signed statement. So, she continued to get charged, and at the time, it was especially hard on us because she had just lost her job, so she made the decision to simply cancel the personal training but wasn't aware she had to basically make a written statement. She was frustrated, and we've been paying the dues collectively for over 9 years. She went to the personal training manager to speak with him and he was very condescending and flat out rude about the situation. No empathetic skills whatsoever. He stuck to the facts, being that she signed a contract and there was nothing they could do about the past personal training drafts out of our bank account. The fact that the "manager" at the Gilbert location was flat out anti-empathetic about our situation and didn't even bother to acknowledge this extenuating circumstance is what really bothered us. It was basically "we don't care about your situation - you signed this contract, and we're sticking to it". That was the vibe. Frustrated, we spoke with the manager at the Gilbert location (nice guy, mustache, didn't get his name) and he LISTENED without interrupting, was VERY empathetic to our situation, and even though MSF was NOT obligated contractually to refund us, he offered to give us 3 months of membership dues credits ALONG with officially cancelling the personal training. He really made things right and we were ready to previously just cancel our membership just due to the fitness manager's attitude towards the situation. Months passed, and once again, we continued to get charged monthly. I called, and the manager once again was very apologetic and assured us that THIS TIME, we won't see dues come out for 3 months. So far so good, I think this time worked. Finally, and this is the straw that broke the camel's back, my girlfriend checked her bank account and saw that CONTINUED personal training drafts coming out even though we cancelled it back in February 2025! She called MSF and spoke with Sam, who has always been super kind and helpful and she looked the account up and indeed saw the cancellation form and the paper trail confirming it. She advised to come speak with the fitness manager to make this right. So now, she has to take time out of her busy day to come talk to the SAME GUY that was entirely too unempathetic months prior to fix a mistake made by MSF. This was THREE times they promised something but failed to fulfill. Moral of the story - if MSF promises to do something, they probably won't until YOU notice it and make a fuss out of it. We will absolutely be cancelling our membership and be looking elsewhere. read more

This was just the type of facility I was looking for in a gym. Not full of Brutus Beefcakes looking at mirrors all day. Just normal people who are self-motivated to stay consistent with a healthy fitness routine. The trainers are knowledgeable and present all the time, which is wonderful for those seeking reliable one-on-one training. Customer service is friendly enough for a gym but could improve. No one expects Disney service at a gym, but there are a few first impression tweaks that could take them from average to exceptional on that end. Overall, though, it's the best I've been to in AZ. read more

The daycare needs a specific area for the toddlers! Somewhere away from the big kids! My 1yr old has been hurt by older (school aged) kids the last 3 days in a row! 3 days in a row! There is absolutely no reason a 1yr old should be wondering around with kids up to the age of 12yrs old! It is not safe! There is plenty of room and I'm sure plenty of resources to add a half wall and gate to keep these guys safe. The QC location is much smaller and has a toddler area. I know the staff does their best, they are just greatly outnumbered sometimes and kids are fast, they loved on him each and every time he was hurt, and I understand accidents happen but 2 of the 3 were NOT accidental and I have had enough! I will be reaching out in hopes that it does not fall on deaf ears. My kid deserves to go to daycare and feel safe! read more

They took a nice, clean user friendly gym and turned it into a social club for 20 somethings. Equipment is worn out. TV's on treadmills are awful, channels are limited to 80's sitcoms, Telemundo soap operas and foreign soccer games. No place to stretch unless you want to do it on scratchy Astro-turf in the middle of the gym. Equipment smushed too close together, can't walk through, especially with all the socializing going on. I think the high ratings are from families with kids because it must be the cheapest child care aroiund. I want to actually WORK OUT - not show off my skimpy sports bra and scrunchy butt shorts....ugh. Give me back LA Fitness. read more

Loved my Val Vista location in Gilbert, and I was a bit resistant to the new location. The renovations they have done were a vast improvement compared to Val Vista. This location was previously an Esporta. I was a little disappointed that the gym equipment didn't change. I know it is a fairly new transition but I had my bar set a little higher for this. I hope they can rearrange the set up to be a little more open and not so clustered feeling as Esporta had it. This place will definitley feel more crowded from having the val vista mountainside people and previous Esporta patrons transitioning. Hopefully this location get better but for now I'll be avoiding this location until they are a little more settled in and new amenties/equipment are available in the future. read more

I moved to CA and called to cancel my membership and they told I had to cancel in person uh ok I'm in CA After going back and forth with a rude Rep. he finally told me I could send a letter to the headquarters stating my case. They just processed 3 months worth of dues. The bank will cancel but still it's so frustrating that they would still process a payment and make it nearly impossible to cancel your membership. However it is a nice clean gym! I'm just frustrated with their cancellation process otherwise I'd give a 5 star read more

We love Mountainside! The staff is welcoming and it's always clean. The classes are great and each instructor is uplifting and fun. I trust the childcare wholeheartedly! It can get busy sometimes, but my kids always have so much fun. I've brought my baby since he was 8 weeks (now 9 months) and my toddler since he was 2 (now 2.5). They both love it and all the girls working are so sweet and love my kids so much. I also love that there's cameras in the workout area to see the kids. read more

I hate that it's come to the point because I've never left a Yelp review in my life but they aren't listening to complaints in person. I'm writing this review because I've been going to this gym for the past 3+ years and I'm at my limit for tolerating the lack of maintenance this place has had since COVID started. Once gyms opened again, they let people choose if they wanted to wear masks or not which is fine since we're choosing to be in a public space and exercising with a mask is a difficult task but at least make sure you're cleaning the equipment and countertops! That should be standard - COVID or not. They don't care. The machines are filthy 24/7. For the last 6 months, I've felt ichy while working out on the red turf area and would see gnats flying around. During my workout tonight, I found beetles on my towel and all over my body. I stood up to find many more all over the red turf area. I quickly learned that it is infested with these beetle bugs after counting about 20-30 of them all over the area. I quickly left the area after taking a few videos to show the staff (posted here on Yelp) but ultimately ended up leaving the gym 15 mins into my workout because I couldn't get the sensation of bugs crawling all over my body to go away and just felt ichy. They have neglected to take care of an issue that has been brought up to them multiple times in the past 6 months.... If you can't afford an exterminator, you should think about charging the beetles rent. Also, the staff member on duty tonight was kind and did his best to explain that management said they were looking in to an exterminator but if you know that you have an infestation, why not block off that area? read more
