LA fitness we did a week trial pass. We were hoping to join up but the pool has been down since November. The lady wants to swim some laps. We probably would have done the family plan if everyone was in agreement. Anyhow, probably stay at our current gyms for the time being. Spacious, cardio upstairs on the overpass walkway. Basketball court always busy. Sauna is a bit tight. It gets pretty busy but we didn't end up waiting for anything and got our workouts done efficiently. Free weights, bench racks incline flat and decline. Squat racks, smith machines, cable machines, racquet ball courts, cardio machines and stretching area. They also have a cafe and vending machines for your smoothies and protein needs. Parking lot is limited during peak times but there's plenty of space to find a spot. People make their own too haha. Overall a good spot in the area. Some of the equipment definitely felt like it's been moved, but manager did say they always try to fix anything that's down quickly. It was my first time visiting LA Fitness Stoughton. I've been on the hunt for a new gym without going too far & one of the amenities that I was the most excited about was the indoor pool. I'm a former swimmer & miss lap swimming, so finding a gym w/ a pool would be ideal for me! Unfortunately, the pool has been out of service since November & they've been having HVAC issues + I guess struggling to find someone to come to fix it? Not entirely sure but hopefully the issue will be resolved soon. They have lots of cardio machines, mainly on the second floor. There are stairmasters on the first floor by the locker rooms, weight area is in the back of the gym first floor along w/ a bunch of machines scattered around, and a cycle room. Locker rooms have saunas in both men & women's. I do like that they have a cycle room! I'm a big fan of spin & would like to pop in to one of these classes eventually. If you like playing basketball, they have an indoor court as well! Staff is really nice here & for the most part, the gym was kept pretty clean. The membership plans are quite affordable, in my opinion! I've gone to gyms where I've spent hundreds of dollars a month, less than $100/month, and Planet Fitnesses/Crunch but I would say LA Fitness' memberships are a great deal if you're looking for a place that has more amenities than your typical weights-only gym w/o paying Lifetime/Equinox prices...also actually cheaper than our local YMCAs. Standard membership is ~$30 but if you sign up for a family plan (w/ $99 initiation fee), each person is $20/month up to 4 people per plan. The equipment here does seem worn but didn't come across any that were broken or anything. There are some machines that I was hoping to see and not sure if they will be getting some new machines? Honestly, still debating on joining membership because my main goal was to find a gym that has a pool and it's uncertain when the pool issue will be fixed. I went there when I had a free pass Positives: Plenty of cardio equipment although some machines were not working properly. Fair amount of free weights and weight machines (More than some gyms, not as much as others)' Has a basketball court, multiple racquetball courts, and a swimming pool although the pool was closed when I was there. Negatives: Some members don't rerack their weights when they are finished using the machines. Some staff members are pushy and pressured me to join when I just wanted a workout there for a few days. Silver lining is people that joined can cancel online within 7 days, get reimbursed and not deal with pushy staff members that would pressure people to stay. Parking can be limited. Might have to park in the nearby Target parking lot. Overall it's a not a bad gym if you can avoid going there during peak hours. But I think there are better gyms in the area. read more

So I am updating this review. I became a member and staff was always good to me. The equipment was up to par. The pool was great. They had a problem with the hot water. No hot water in the shower for weeks!!! Not acceptable! Really? It takes weeks to get a plumber?!!! Bullshit! Tons of people taking photos of themselves in the locker room while your trying to change. Ugh. Didn't have a problem canceling. I'll update if I have any unforeseen issues. I have been a member for a few months and I am going to cancel my membership. Most of the equipment is broken or very old. The members like to play their music with personal speakers at full blast not sure why the staff is not asking these people to use headphones like everyone else. It's very distracting to try and work out and blow off steam when five different types of music is playing at the same time. People also park their cars right in front of the doors and not in parking spots and I have a feeling it's actually the staff because it's the same white truck every day. Kind of unprofessional and lazy to not use a parking spot especially at a gym like god forbid you have to walk. It's just kind of a mess here I would not recommend. read more

Don't waste your money! The stationary bikes haven't had foot straps for over a year- as well as the stair masters, out of order for a year now. This has been brought up to management, & corporate has been emailed, with no response or resolution. I understand stuff breaks, items need replacing, and things take time- but it's been over a year now, replacing parts or getting equipment serviced is not a priority here, the equipment has sat there broken and unused ...... for a year. read more

The cardio machines are either unusable or only work some of the time (and are always "scheduled for maintenance but never seem to get it), the place is always a mess (both on the floor of the gym itself and in the locker room), and now I walk in today and instead of stocking the sanitary wipes the owner just decided to put a random-ass folding table out with a roll of paper towels and spray bottles like this is WOW! or something. Carpet is beat up and torn, and seems to get worse by the day. The owner and his friends like to work out in the middle of the day and be loud as shit with a personal speaker blasting (who need to wear headphones am I right?). The locker rooms are always out of toilet paper and paper towels, and some of the lockers seem to have been beat to shit by someone on a 'roid rage. I've had to wait to get my stuff out of my locker because groups of guys are too busy taking body-building-pose pictures in that area. All of this to say: this is the trashiest and most bombed-out gym I've ever been a member with, bar none. read more

This gym is absolutely terrible and filthy and also have mold in them. The bathrooms are really in a terrible shape and extremely unhygienic. When they hear of some inspection, they do this dress-up superficially and the second day it goes back to a normal filthy facility. I am surprised how town of Stoughton is allowing this facility to exist and function. There are soiled napkins everywhere and the operations manager really does not care. I brought it to them for several times over 6 months period and all I hear is excuses and blame corporate. I also see that the parking lot is full and it's busy and there is no excuse from revenue standpoint. They just don't want to maintain clubs. At least the LA Fitness in Walpole MA is not as bad as this one, but still not close to what this brand name is supposed to stand for. I hope senior leadership at LA Fitness takes this message seriously and make improvements immediately as I also I included photos with evidence. I would give it a zero star if I could. One of the better gyms I've been to, even though they may need to upgrade a few area and machines soon. Lots of machines. Weight area, stairs, basketball, pool, hot tub, locker rooms, tennis or whatever those 3 empty rooms are for, sauna, stretch area, dance and other fitness classes room are downstairs. Cardio is upstairs. Majority of the age group who goes to this location are 20s-mid 30s and elderlies. There's a lifeguard at all time and there's aerobic weights for anyone who wants to do any aerobic exercise or swim... or in my case, learn how to swim. Hot tub isn't bad. Sauna in the women's locker room is typically clean. Showers are sorta dirty but not crazy dirty where molds are growing like a tree from the bottom up. Plenty of spacious area. Unlike LA Fitness in GA, there's no hair dryer in the locker room to use so make sure you bring your own if you're going to shower here! Okay, I admit. I don't know how to use all the weight machines so even during their slow time, thank you to all the guy customers who come and help me out to not die under the machines instead of standing by Overall, great vibe. A place that makes me want to come back to workout. Downside are their hours... wish they open longer or maybe hire more people who are willing to work other hours and also please keep more cleaning supply stations throughout the gym so enforce more people to clean the machines after themselves. I prefer this location over LA Fitness in Natick, MA. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am not a member. I went for a tour and left immediately after. I cant review the machines/facility etc. It was the visit that was a complete turn off. I made a reservation online for a tour. When we arrived a women with blond braids/locs in front was in private joking conversation. Once they finished laughing/talking, I say we are here for a tour. She begins to SCREAM across the front TONY TONYY TONYYYY! I can see Tony is in mid convo with two other guests, she could see this too, but she persisted instead of saying excuse me and shouts TOUR! I should've left then, but that is just one unprofessional person or so I thought...We walk over to Tony, he shakes my hand introduces himself to us. Begins the sale pitch of what price he has, then immediately cuts me off when I mention my health insurance rate and says he can offer the same thing. THEN proceeds to tell my daughter and I how he is a gym rat and bashes every other gym in the area and what they are NOT offering for their prices instead of focusing on what HIS gym has to offer. Never asked what we were looking for, what my daughter was interested in a gym, if I was a current member of a gym... (which I am, him not even knowing he bashed me and my current gym as "people just go there to say they go there") 2nd unprofessional person. Tony then has a young man walk us around the gym. He was nice but he should not be giving tours. His own words " I don't even know the gym like that so I'm walking around with you guys too, so just ask me whatever". I had to ask him everything, he is just taking us from one area to the next not saying anything until I ask, where is this, what time does this happen, how can we sign up for that? He excused himself more than once because I could tell he was nervous, he even cursed a couple of times and asked US if we heard him? During the tour he physically stopped to gives hugs and talk to others walking around while we stood... there this happened at least 3 times! 3rd unprofessional person (...but I give him grace because he was young and clearly not trained properly) I could not leave that place fast enough! For context I can tell the atmosphere was a close knit environment, all the people knew each other etc. I am not that uptight, but it was just extremely UNPROFESSIONAL for a business as a new person entering. The hugging on the back desks the massaging of one coworker by another at the front desk laughing hysterically. The disparaging remarks about other gyms. The yelling throughout. UPDATE: GOOD NEWS! They seem to be addressing the issues. I will note the list with dates as they are finished COMPLETED: 5. Men's Locker Room - Sauna has been out for a month. (11/20/2018) 8. Men's Locker Room - Exhaust Vent is clogged and needs to be cleaned (12/7/2018) 14. Over 25% of the lights are out in the back weight lifting area (12/7/2018) (Originally posted 11/13/2018) Could easily be 4 stars if they did more maintenance. I have had a good interaction with staff, and with the people that workout here, but it just has aged. I sent a letter detailing issues in March of 2018 and they got to maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the issues. This is an updated issue list since November 2018 Good news: 1. Pool was cleaned up and painted, but the contractors hired for the painting... didn't do a very good job of prepping as the paint didn't stick very well in a number of places. 2. I think you guys hired a new equipment maintenance person, and the equipment hasn't been labeled as failing for months at a time. Bad news: The lockers were never fixed. Floors look worse than last year terrible rips etc. just growing. Issue on the wall in the men's locker room by the water fountains has gotten worse. Showers still aren't very well cleaned and look quite mildew encrusted. Here is an updated list. 1. Men's Locker Room - The lockers, There are sooo many damaged lockers that have never been fixed. These should be fixed on a monthly, if not quarterly basis. I would say 10-15% at least of the lockers have major problems inside or outside. 2. Men's Locker Room - Water Fountain doesn't work and is unplugged. Was making terrible noise before being unplugged. 3. Men's Locker Room - Next to water fountain looks like water damage and a big piece of wall paper just hanging off. 4. Men's Locker Room - Multiple ceiling tiles that have water damage that look bad. 6. Men's Locker Room - Lights missing in Mens Shower 7. Men's Locker Room - Paint above urinal has been falling off for 4+ months 9. Pool - Water damage around the Spigot by the pool, it wasn't fixed correctly during the painting and it starting to show a lot of damage again. 10. Pool - The water fountains aren't chilled and water comes out quite warm 11. Pool - Vent above the Hot tub is clogged, and also looks to be loose and potentially falling 12. Pool - Tile by window is collapsing, may be caused by more severe water damage, will get worse if not fixed. 13. Carpet, there are rips and tears all over the carpet throughout the club. This isn't just one rip, but everywhere. 15. Wall in Rear weight room has been hit and collapsed under the carpeted wall. This is just a quick list of issues. read more

Management here is horrible. The manager and assistant manager are incredibly rude and I am sure i'm not the only person who feels this way. I've had an incredibly bad experience with these two. Long story short, I wanted to solve a problem I have been having and instead of being helpful, the assistant manager and manager completely avoided me and chose arguing. One of the staff members was getting involved although it was none of their business and it resulted in nothing getting fixed. I need take a moment to shout out Charlie for being the best desk receptionist at any place I've ever been to (gym and non-gym included). Every time I go to this LA Fitness Charlie is greeting everyone with full attention and energy. I love that because it is common at other places for people to not acknowledge you or be on their phones. His greetings truly make a difference. He was also extremely helpful at unfreezing and restarting my membership in two minutes tops. He even gave me exact directions as to how to fix my photo on my app (what days and times a manager would be around to retake it for me--information I needed to fix the issue). Charlie gives such authentic greetings and goodbyes to every single person that walks in and out of the doors. LA Fitness is very lucky to have him. He's the epitome of an effective, kind, desk receptionist. He's passionate about LA Fitness, fitness in general, and is just a nice guy. This location is cleaner than other places I've been to in the Boston area. There is still a little of trash here and there and un-racked weights. But it is A LOT better than I've seen at other locations. This place is not too crowded either. Currently you are not allowed to use the water fountains due to COVID. There is plenty of parking and it's right next to a Target and gas station which is nice. read more

This gym serves it purpose as bare minimally as possible and even that is downward trending now. some of the staff at the front desk just stare and blink when you come in instead of saying good morning. The stair steppers (6) are almost always out of service, missing screen, wires sticking out. Forget about goin in the evening or night time. it's like a night club with actual children being allowed to run around. Machines are held up with people tapping away on cell phones or setting up video shoots. Its ridiculous. they used to have spray bottles for cleaning machine that you could never find. now they have wipe stations that are empty 90% of the time, showing lack of cleanliness. I do not recommend this gym at all and wish I had something else more convenient, professional, and Comfortable to go to. one thing I will say is the cycling class on Tuesday and Thursday is awesome. read more

I have belonged to 6 fitness centers in the past 30 years. None of them is perfect. I understand the economics that require taking some shortcuts to be profitable. Unfortunately, some shortcuts destroy the reasons that someone, like me, joins a gym in the first place. The Staughton LA Fitness has 5 racquetball courts and an active racquetball community which is what attracted me to the Staughton gym. As difficult as it is to believe, 3 courts don't have lights and another court has a hole in the floor. The players have notified the staff that only 2 of the courts are usable even though there are times when 4 or 5 courts are needed for the players present. Changing ceiling lights in racquetball courts is not like a roof falling in, or an air conditioning system needing to be replaced. It is just changing light bulbs. Taking 9 months to replace light bulbs while the staff's weekly telling us that the work order is in, is nothing short of ridiculous. I am a lawyer, so I know that the first time someone gets hurt by being hit with a racquet because visibility in 1 of the courts depends on only 1 lightbulb. Unfortunately, it seems as though it is going to take a costly lawsuit to motivate LA Fitness to change the f...king light bulbs I am writing to warn those of you who think that they can play racquetball at the Staughton center. You might as well play on an outdoor court in your local park because at least during the day, you will have enough light to actually see the ball and see the other players. read more

Shout out to JOHN RODRIGUEZ at LA Fitness, Stoughton, MA. John epitomizes the soul & spirit of what a gym manager should be: welcoming, motivating, someone who cares about how the gym is run and all its members. John makes sure all weights & mats are where they should be, all machines work and machine pads are not torn and shredded. LA Stoughton is clean and - get this - it's fun and pleasant to work out there. Living on LI, I'm at LA Fitness after work every weekday, M-F, either Farmingdale or Lake Success. Both are disgusting. Machines broken for years at a time, rusted, with machine pads so torn it rips the skin off your knees. Weights? What weights? Expect to spend 15-20 minutes wandering around looking for them. Bench press? Well the torn benches are there, but it's hard to find a bar. Want to know what's inside the locker room ceilings? Just look up. There are ceiling tiles missing. BTW: make sure you lock your locker because odds are 50/50 your stuff will be there after you're done working out. I've personally reported the same machines as not working, missing pegs and a screw sticking out that cut my index finger over 2 years ago. I give up. No one at either of those places gives a you-know-what. No one smiles and definitely no one to help you should you need any. In Lake Success's locker room a woman fell last year and got hurt. I called the front desk for someone to come help her. No one ever came. Lake Success should be particularly ashamed of themselves since they are a flagship. There are cockroaches in the locker room and crawling around under the sauna mats. No kidding. Half the shower heads don't work or are missing altogether. The 2 that work don't have soap or - even better - no shower curtain. Stoughton was so clean it was a pleasure to shower in. Recently a sign on the Lake Success women's sauna room door said "No Drug Use In The Sauna." Guess it's acceptable in the bathroom stalls and locker room area then. When I left Stoughton yesterday, John made a point to come up and say good-bye, with a big smile, even though he never saw me before. He knows members by name and encourages them in their workouts. He walks around, cheering on members and doesn't just sit playing on his phone. Too bad I live so far from Stoughton but will make a point of going there when I visit MA, giving John a great big hello and enjoying a clean workout in a pleasant, happy & safe environment. read more

I have been a member of LA Fitness from the beginning. I have seen lots of changes over the years with personnel. Some of the management teams we difficult to deal with. Problems had not been dealt with. But I can honestly say that things have gotten much better. The front desk crew is on point. Chris always greets me with a smile. If I go to him with a problem he takes care of it. And the environment is so much better. LA Fitness is the nicest gym in the area and the price is very affordable. Clearly there is a minimum standard for being in this gym, and the male staff made it clear to me, from the moment I sat down for my scheduled tour that I am not up to that standard. Two male staff were intimidating to the point of creepy and I had to tell one of them he was being physically intimidating. They treated me like a trespasser, even though I'd scheduled a tour online. Since they'd never met me before, but immediately treated me with such suspicion, I can only guess there is a physical standard I don't meet to be good enough to be in there. No one showed for the scheduled tour and there was no explanation, so one of the guys did it impromptu. He was ok during the tour. When I left I was told I could look up the membership.info online. I got the impression not to let the screen door hit me on the way out. However, I've gotten no follow up call because no one even asked my name, much less got contact info. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and are quick to respond if a piece of equipment is not in working order.....which is rare. I really enjoy the variety of exercise class options, strength training equipment, cleanliness, and the children's fitness center. My great nephew and niece always look forward to going to the gym with me and their mother, because they get a chance to see their friends (which they met there) weekly. If you would like to try the personal training out I suggest you do the 6 month program. They say it is easy to get out of the program IT IS NOT! TRUST ME. If you don't read my whole review, I only care that you got that message. Cons: It seems as if they only have one person cleaning so sometimes it's hard to find someone to replace toilet paper/ paper towels or really know when the last time the showers were cleaned The training program was discribed to me as 25 (lifting) and 25 (cardio). So I assumed it would be a 50 minute session with the trainer. It is only 25 minutes with the training you are expected to do the cardio on your own. Pros: nice people nice staff pool- it can get fairly packed during peak hours. If you come around 8 it will be fine Jacuzzi nice equipment I really liked some of the workout classes they have showers- I suggest bringing flip flops and a towel. They have body wash but no shampoo or conditioner I honestly would have given the place a higher score if it wasn't for the messy personal training situation. Unfortunately I was lied to by the staff member who signed me up but other staff members did apologize and try to help me resolve the situation. read more

Gym was fine for a facility. Problem started when I canceled my membership due to moving. Went in, they were very pleasant said it was cancelled and handed me a piece of paper saying it was all done. Didn't inform me that I needed to mail this piece of paper to their corporate headquarters. When I saw that they were still charging me I called to ask why and they said I had never cancelled my membership. I was then told it was my problem that I hadn't been fully aware of the process. When I explained their representative told me I was done and needed no further action they told me that " oh that couldn't have happened ". Typical Gym Scam BS. I have been a member for about 4 years since the opening of the LA fitness in Stoughton. Initially, it was beautiful gym, with new equipment and a staff that CARED. I miss those days. I am so disgusted with this gym and how it has gone downhill. This place has so many problems, I'm not even sure where to start. Here are a few things at this gym that made me cancel my membership and go to a different gym.. 1) The gym is always too crowed between 6 - 9pm. 2) Women locker rooms are FILTHY the showers/bathrooms are never properly cleaned, it's so gross I will not even go in it anymore. 3) The sauna has been broken now for 5 straight months. Broken equipment (loose belt on treadmills, non-functioning stair master and ellipticals) they just slap an "out of order" sign and it sits there broken weeks on end. At this point I am fed up!! I am very upset because this gym is near my house.. Urgh I had to upgrade an joined a expensive gym, at least in La fitness terms. Lifetime fitness in Westwood. I'm a member and have to say that the gym needs a major refresh. Most of the machines are in poor condition, weights are missing, and the men's locker room is poorly maintained. I've used LA Fitness gyms around the country when traveling on business and the quality of this one is an embarrassment.
