Unprofessional Management and Pushy Sales Tactics I came to this LA Fitness location with a 3-day guest pass, hoping to get a genuine feel for the gym before committing to a membership. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The first time I stepped into the gym, it was just for a tour--no workout, just a walk-through. The second time, I actually worked out and took a yoga class. That's when things went downhill. I was immediately accused by the manager of trying to use a guest pass multiple times, which was completely inaccurate. The day I came in for the class was the first time I actually used the gym. Not only was the accusation frustrating and unprofessional, but the tone and approach made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. To add to that, the sales tactics were way too aggressive. After one class, I was already being pushed to sign up. If I have a 3-day guest pass, let me use it--all three days--before pressuring me into making a decision. That's the whole point of offering a trial period. Between the poor handling by management and the rushed sales pressure, it's clear this location prioritizes numbers over experience. Definitely not the type of environment I'm looking for in a gym. read more

I really enjoyed coming to this gym!! What I love most about this gym, it's that it's very clean and it has brand new equipments and it also has a sauna which I love! Starting from entrance the lady had great customer service and then I met Oscar I believe he's the manager at this gym. Oscar help me out in my first two sessions. I felt very comfortable in my training sessions with him and he also explained some of the equipment very well! Oscar, also created a meal plan for me and continues to motivate me in my fitness journey. He's such a great guy and I highly recommend him to anyone who would to start there fitness journey as well! read more

Really good gym very clean and good hospitality workers are nicer than any others I've been to. Love the atmosphere and love the sauna. I love seeing various ages working out there too. Too bad it's going to be closing soon I feel bad for the parents who use the day care help to workout, feel terrible for the seniors who are physically active in the pool and sauna area. I just wanna take this opportunity to recognize Marco and Adam. Every time I walk into the gym, Marco is completing task and caring about with a great attitude. Whenever he's on duty,I can't seem to find anything wrong with the gym. Always a friendly and familiar face. Adam is excellent great customer service and knowledgeable of all things in the gym. Give good workout advice with a great attitude and a friendly approach. The gym itself would get five stars, but unfortunately the Wi-Fi is lackluster. Its pretty much useless for the last two years that I've worked out there. Luckily, I have an off-line playlist that gets me through my workouts. read more

I love this gym! The place is clean, people clean up after they use the equipment, the pool is heated and honestly it's not too crowded (I went on a weekend). I love the amenities it has, has everything I need plus some extras. The only thing that probably bugs me a little bit are the weights are not returned to their proper number but it's not a deal breaker. I could still find the weights. read more

BEWARE! They make cancelling your membership incredibly hard. I tried to cancel twice online. They kept billing me. It wasn't until I took a trip to Southern California (we had moved to Northern California) and drove from Seal Beach to Whittier to stop by in person that I was able to get it cancelled. But they weren't done. I went by on the 16th but they still charged me for the monthly fee which didn't renew until the 20th. I asked why. They said it takes five days to process a cancellation. Total nonsense. Avoid LA Fitness at all costs unless you want the hassle I went through. read more

The few times I visited during the week I was able to use all the machines I wanted. The gym itself is quite clean, cardio upstairs, machines down stairs, juice and smoothie spot for pre and post workouts The members really take pride in their gym, everyone is nice and considerate about not hogging a machine and people actually sanitize it after. I don't have to worry or strategize about my next move because they have an abundant number of machines are not hella busy. La Fitness may cost more than the competitors but I personally feel that this gym is worth it. Customer service can be better, the water refill station was not working, no service in the gym (have to connect to wifi) (missing star) read more

This is the closest LA fitness to my residence and I come here to get a work out in. The spot, machines, restroom, and other areas very well maintained. The staff is always polite, friendly, and welcoming. It la a great place to work out and enjoy the amenities. read more

I am so thankful for their training program!! Oscar literally makes this gym a home and a place where your hopes and dreams become a reality. He is the man that signed me up to get personal training right but he lives his life to really help you get where you want to be; not just another dollar sign! I am not at my goal yet but with Oscar around I know I am going to get there. He is down to earth and his personality and smile and motivation on top of that his knowledge of what he is helping us achieve through form etc we can't fail endless that was your goal! I highly recommend m coming here to get fit and feel encouraged!!! Plus the prices are reasonable and worth every penny!! Facilities are clean, and people are nice. i am saddened to even leave this review since I have had so many good experiences here. But, the juice bar being closed and waiting over two hours and it still being closed after being told to wait at least 30 mins and to buy a water is so unprofessional. I understand inconveniences & emergencies happen. They should at least have an extra key for all the other members who pay a monthly service fee and need full access to the juice bar or at least add water to their own vending machine. read more

The new manager of Training, Oscar, is no longer honoring agreements made by the previous manager. Very cocky attitude, he threw away all of our training guides so we no longer have progress or the weights we did on different machine machines. read more

I switch off between two different LA facilities. This location is by far the better one. The blonde girl at the front desk is so pleasant. Always greets you with a smile and even wishes you a good day at the end of your experience. The man and women that come in after her are also always so nice! I have never came here and received a rude or unwanted feeling as I do at other locations. Love it here. read more

Just started the AquaFit classes and love them. No issues with the facility itself but a little disappointed in the fact that their Handicap parking is around the building furthest away from the entrance instead of out front. Not sure how the City of Whittier approved that! read more

The Whittier LA Fitness is well maintained. The workout areas, restroom, and changing area are very clean. I want to give props to Marco for being friendly and hardworking. He always has a positive outlook and obviously enjoys what he is doing. I'm glad this facility has 2 hip thrust machines in the cross fit area. I think 2 more are needed because I still see people often using the flat bench and bar for hip thrusts. read more

It good place to go and work out. Only they need to have a few handicap in front of the entrance. They need to clean the showers. They are very dirty. I just started going. I ended up getting an infection on my feet after showering there a few times. I now make sure to use my sandals. And put my towel in the floor in the locker room when I need to step on the floor as I put my shoes on. read more

Horrible.i went to the supplement store right next to this gym and they told me to ask for DJ for a membership. It was the worst thing ever. All she wanted was to open a membership with money that was not making sense at all. I have multiple gym memberships and I know how much money it's needed to open one. Club is well kept by cleaning staff. All have great attitude and very friendly. Workout machines when broken are repaired in a fare amount of time. Restrooms/locker room are clean rarely out of order. read more

The evening front desk staff (two females) are horrible. They said that their kids club was at "max capacity"; had my wife and kids wait 30mins while other kids were allowed in. They told us 20mins or when the next 2 kids are picked up by their parents. 3 kids have left within the 30mins. Then they decided to tell us about the kids club daily fee. Bad experience at this location. If this issue can be resolved then I'll decide if I'd like to come back. read more

Honestly chain gyms get a bad rep, but this particular LA Fitness is really good. The staff here is great, extremely nice people who always greet you kindly asking how you're doing with a smile. The people who work out in the time slot I go every day are respectful and have good gym etiquette. Facilities are always clean as their groundskeeper might be one of the nicest people I've ever met, always says hello to me and everyone, all while working extremely hard to keep the place clean. Recently moved to Whittier and was looking to switch to gyms, so I came into this location. Right off the bat the front counter chick was snarky and rude, and when I got to talking to the manager I got the same. All I wanted was a 3 day pass to try the gym out. I told the manager I was recently a member in riverside , but ended it when I moved. The manager proceeds to tell me , he can't provide a pass because I was already a member, when I explained I moved over a hour away from my last gym, whole new city, new vibes etc. not every gym is the same even though it's the same brand. He wouldn't give me a pass and told me try the gym out for one day and come get a pass, I walked out. Don't waste your time , their membership is way too expensive either way. read more

My parents went to check out this gym because they were considering switching gyms. The front desk person was incredibly rude and did not even let them look inside. I hope the management teaches the employees here what customer service actually means, especially when they have potential customers literally at your doorsteps. read more

Been coming here for the last couple years vs the one in Pico. This one is always pretty full during the day. Best times for less people would usually be two hours after they open or before they close. But im sure thats most gyms. Its smaller than the Pico Rivera location. They have a pool, and workout room, basketball area, cycling area, crossfit area and all there treadmills and what nots are upstairs.. Its a good size gym as long as all the machines are working. Good freeweight area. They just remodeled like a year ago or so, so new floors, some new free weight equipment, and nice grass like turf in the crossfit area. Place is kept pretty clean and the staff are usually pretty nice. read more
