I didn't drive to Charlottesville looking for Mexican ice cream, but the other places I considered were closed on the holiday I was here, so I gave it a shot. The majority of the numerous customers were ordering in Spanish, but the people working there were bilingual, and I was able to order a ludicrous banana split, wherein I received three choice flavors of ice cream topped with a sprinkling of walnuts and strawberry bits as well as enough whipped cream to make you wonder where any of that other stuff was. The ice cream flavors are distinctive, and I sampled a guava and a dulce de leche, both quite tasty, as well as my typical mint chip. It was an herbal slightly spearmint-y flavor that rounded everything off nicely. They offer several other items, and of note a decent fraction of their popsicles are dairy free, so you can get your cool Mexican fruit flavors on if you are a non-dairy person. stopped by this place after in search for a good icecream place that would hit the spot on a hot day in August. immediately when i entered it felt so festive with the colorfully painted walls, the pinatas hanging from the ceiling, and a variety of mexican candies and snacks. i got the oreo and the sour sop popsicle but wow it was so hard to choose based on so many flavors i couldnt pick one. my bf got icecream and they gave him a hefty scoop. i loved how they stuck an oreo right in the middle of the popsicle. it tasted exactly like cookie and cream and digging into the oreo was the best part. the sourop icecream had a faint sour taste to it, but didn't really taste much more than that. not sure if it captured the taste accurately, since i never tried the soursop fruit before, but i wanted to try this popsicle since i like to try sour stuff. there was a long line but the line went pretty quickly as people were getting as many as 5 or 6 popsicles! there is also seating outside, but i sat inside because i didn't want my popsicles to melt. overall, really unique store and definitely make it a point to come here especially in the summer months. i doubt you'll find something you won't wanna try! read more

This is a really cool place with a great selection of desserts, snack foods, prepared food, and of course their locally-famed popsicles! The popsicles here are worth all the hype. We came in on a hot July day and were very quickly served with two unique, creamy, and sweet popsicles. I loved the massive selection but was a bit overwhelmed so let me just tell you: get the Tres Leches! There are real pieces of their cake in the popsicles! It was incredible. This place also makes custom cakes, so consider here for your next event - especially kids birthday parties! I flipped through their booklet and saw a lot of cakes I would have loved as a kid. The selection of popsicles will give you brain freeze. The ice cream flavors and diverse. The eggnog ice cream is never elusive. Pinatas provide faces to the voices in your head. There are raisins in the eggnog ice cream. I hate raisins. They are over-tanned grapes. Grapes are great. Why are you punishing them? Jerks. I will gladly eat near-frozen raisins to experience the creamy confection encasing them. I looked it up, ice cream is sometimes considered a confection. is the letter "Y" of confections. The people are so nice, too. I didn't even ask for samples today because I have arrived for the eggnog, but they are offering them to me just out of kindness. I've never tried the food or beverages. And since it was in the middle of the school day at 2pm, NO ONE was there. Walking in, you're greeted with a vibrancy of colors straight to your eyes. To your right, you get pinatas and to you left, you get the ice cream bar with soft serve or popsicles. There were so many selections of popsicles (many of them exotic). There was even a flavor called Tequila! I opted for the oreos and creme popsicle while the bae got the mixed fruit yogurt. Mine was definitely creamier and sweet and there was an entire oreo in the middle! I do have to say, the mixed fruit was better with its slight tangyness and health conscious berries. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, $4.22 for two popsicles that were definitely of the gourmet kind. There were several other customers there when I arrived, despite it being a weeknight, which was a good sign. I was immediately overwhelmed by all the popsicle options alone, despite having done "research" on Yelp and Instagram before going. I couldn't even look at the ice cream or any of the other menu items because it would've been too hard to pick what I wanted. I ultimately went with 2 popsicles--1 oreo and 1 blackberry cheesecake--although there were like 5 others I was seriously considering. In addition to popsicles and ice cream, it looked like they sold frozen bananas and shelf-stable snacks as well. I loved both the popsicles I got, but if I had to pick, I probably marginally preferred the cheesecake one. However, they were both super creamy and delicious. I accidentally came under the $5 minimum for credit card purchases, but the cashier let it slide, which was nice. There appeared to be a good amount of parking outside. The coconut ice cream is my go to because it has actual pieces of coconut in it and does not taste as artificial as most other coconut ice creams I have had.
