We took 2 pineapple and 2 chicken tamales to go. This morning when I went to grab one to take for lunch I saw that they were wrapped 1/2 wax paper 1/2 corn husk. That seemed very odd. So I finally made it to La Flor to try out their pupusas. I must say I'm very glad I got to try the food here. When I arrived and got in line I received a nice smile from the lady working behind the counter taking orders. When I made it to the front of the line I ordered four revuelta and four pork and cheese pupusas to go. I requested both hot and mild salsa. Because they make everything fresh there is always going to be a short wait. This gave me the opportunity to see the dining room and rest room. Everything is very clean and the decor is very authentic and inviting. The pupusas are very tasty and the "hot" salsa, while not too spicy, is very flavorful and really accompanies the curtido nicely. The mild salsa tastes very fresh. I made sure I had cash to pay as I read in another review here on Yelp that they only accept cash, but they actually do take credit cards. So don't worry, if you're in the area drop by and give 'em a try. Cash or card will both work to pay the bill. I'll be back! read more

Came here awhile ago and was craving some papusa for lunch. I had called ahead of time to pick up. I ordered chicken and cheese, Jalapeño and cheese, and pork/bean/cheese combination. When I went to go pick up, it was about 15 minutes, when I got there the food was almost ready. Interior was nicely designed and colorful. There was no one inside dining but I saw that they had a lot of online orders so I was being patient with my order. The lady at the front was super nice and apologized for the wait. Chicken and Cheese papusa was probably my favorite. The chicken was nice and seasoned and it tasted amazing with the hot sauce and cabbage slaw. The jalapeño and cheese was good but I felt like it lacked a bit of flavor, it was literally just jalapeño and cheese inside but can't do much with flavor there. The pork/bean/cheese was not my favorite honestly, I felt like the beans were over whelming, it didn't look like it had pork inside at all. I was a bit disappointed cause since the pork was barely tasted, I felt like it had no flavor either. The only papusa I actually enjoyed and finished was the chicken and cheese. Went there around noon during my lunch with my coworker the place was not packed yet it was a long wait we waited around 40 min for our food to be ready. Since this was the first time trying this place we didn't know it would take that long. Highly suggest placing your order before hand so the wait time is not so much. My wife ordered three bean and cheese Pupusas. Simple and short. Nothing too crazy. After our order there was two customers waiting in line, and three waiting before us for their food. All three before us were served prior to us getting our food, and the two after us were served prior to us getting our food. This review is strictly for that issue. If you have customers then you should serve them accordingly. If you have 45 mins time to spare waiting around for some mid pupusas then this is the place to go. Beside that the inside of the restaurant was nice, the decorations and general ambiance of the place was cool too. My first review of 2021! If you happen to live or wish to visit the Sacramento area and are looking for the very best pupusas, look no further because "La Flor Pupusas Grill" will have you covered! I've been to this place at least a dozen times ever since finding out about them way back in 2007-08 when I lived close to here. For those of you that don't know, pupusas are a thick flatbread that originated from El Salvador and are stuffed with a filling, predominantly beans and cheese. I usually call it a thicker version of Mexico's quesadilla. Located directly on Fulton Ave. in the heart of the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento, this place can be a tad bit tricky to find since the parking lot stretches back quite a bit. But once you do find it and enter their restaurant, the fresh aromatic smell will tantalize your taste buds. The menu options here are quite extensive as they carry both Salvadoran and Mexican items. This includes breakfast plates, tostadas, quesadillas, burritos, and lots of sides. But I only come here strictly for the pupusas. I usually order two (or three if I am super hungry) to-go and when these are priced around the $2.75-3.25 range, you can get filled up for well under $10. Not bad for so much food. As far as the flavor itself, these things hit the spot. Not too greasy and a perfect consistent amount of fillings. They also give you plenty of sides (cabbage, sauce, etc.) to add to your pupusa. The service here is great and during my most frequent (in December 2020), they were quite busy even with the COVID-19 pandemic that was raging across the world. Overall, "La Flor Pupusas Grill" is one of (if not) the best restaurants in the greater Sacramento area for amazing Salvadoran food. Staff was friendly & efficient. My meal consisted of (3) carnitas street tacos w/ a tall cold Jarittos Mandarina. Taco meat was seasoned & cooked perfectly ! The food is good. I really enjoy their refried beans and rice. All of the pupusas I have tried have been delicious. I have never gotten friendly service there. I feel merely tolerated when placing my order. The food is made to order so it takes a little while. I always get it to go as the dining area is small and like I said they aren't the friendliest so I'd rather eat at home.
