Been coming here for years. As with all restaurant food, prices have one up tremendously. I remember when Mexican food used to be really inexpensive. Not anymore. I tend to stick with what works for me so I ordered the super burrito Carne Asada with hot salsa. The burrito was pretty decent in size, but it was full of rice and beans and not too much meat some sour cream and a few slices of avocado. The meat is not very high-quality and we had very little flavor. This used to be their staple. The rest of the food really lacked flavor as well and when I poured the salsa into the burrito, it was not even hot. The quality is definitely dropped off from days of old, but it's decent. I feel like they're better options at least for the burritos in the area. I have not had the pupusa's in a while. I like to patronize the smaller restaurants, especially family owned to help them stay afloat. With the quality that I have tasted today, this will make it difficult. The food is good but the lady at the counter is so rude. Placed an order over the phone and went to pick up and asked if they took card and she rudely said cash only then i told her id be back in 10 mins with cash since there isn't an atm nearby and she stares and shakes her head. I asked again if it was okay or not since she just shook her head and she says "What?", after repeating myself she says okay. I grew up coming here and the only thing that has changed since the 90's are some of the faces and the prices of course. As a kid I can remember coming in here with my dad after a long day. The counter lady was Maria and she was a total B#*%€ to lol but the food was so good you just dealt with it. Since her leaving there have been many other cashier ladies all different ages but they all share the same thing in common- the attitude . The only complaints I have are 3. 1...is CASH ONLY. 2...no Salvadorian horchata served here.And 3 very important they close earlier that what they say they close almost half and hour earlier and every thing is cleaned up so you cant order. yet they leave their open sign on. You'll leave with that satisfied feeling in your core with a food afterglow that'll last all day. The papusas are ridiculously good (don't shy from the pickled cabbage). The street tacos (carnitas!) are meaty and thick. The chicken quesadilla is stuffed. The salsas are the perfect complement to everything - a little zip but not an exercise in heat tolerance. Really good pupusas! They were also bigger than I was expecting. We got the revueltas, loroco and chicken pupusas and they were all super good. We also got both the Mexican and Salvadorian tamales and weren't a huge fan due to the texture of the masa. But definitely recommend coming back for the pupusas. read more

I asked the cashier who really needs to work on her customer service skills and eyebrows if I could have another one and she said no only 2 come with the order. I had just spent $50 dollars and she could not spare 1 salsa you kidding right, had to go back to my car and get money to pay for it. Ordered popusas (cheese, beans, chicken combo), (cheese and beans) (loroco - squash blossom with cheese). My 8 year old had a chicken taco and the combo popusa. He loved it and asked to come back. It was filling and yummy. I had the other 2 popusas and was so deliciously full afterwards. Takes a bit to get the order but that's because they make them fresh and the taste shows. I want so much to love this place because it's like walking into a little piece of Mexico and the staff is so friendly. The shrimp taco smelled fishy as they brought it out. Seafood should not smell. I wouldn't even take a bite of it because I knew it had gone bad and didn't want to get sick. The chili relleno was served lukewarm so we couldn't enjoy the true flavor. This was my first ever pupusa experience. I didn't even know what a pupusa was, but a friend told me this place made the best she'd had in this area, better than what our local Woodland and Davis places had to offer. If you're a newb like me, a pupusa is basically like a fried, squashed tamale. I'm sure I'm oversimplifying it. You eat it with salsa and a cabbage slaw that tastes like watered-down salsa (vinegar and tomato flavor basically). It's delicious!! Each pupusa varied in size, which spoke to its authenticity and handmade origins. The corn dough was thick and encased meat and cheese (they have veggie options too!). Apparently there is a pupusa version they create made with rice flour, which I look forward to trying on my next visit. It was hard to taste the difference between the chorizo, pork and beans, and chicken, because I mainly appreciated fried, flavored goodness, but I'm not complaining. It was such a fun experience! Plus, each pupusa was only $3.75 max. Totally affordable and I could easily get full on just two. We also got a side of rice and beans. The rice wasn't the standard orange rice that I'm used to, and I loved that! It was more of a white/yellow color, perfectly seasoned but not overbearing. The beans were smooth and flavorful, like you'd expect from a restaurant as opposed to opening a can at home. The restaurant definitely has its own flair when it comes to style. It felt like a family-owned, authentic and unashamed eatery, the kind I'd choose over a chain any day. Located in a shopping plaza, there's plenty of parking. It was my first time in this area and it seemed somewhat rundown, but I felt safe with my friend and children during the day. Definitely call your order in ahead of time, as my friend told me it takes awhile for the pupusas to be made. It took us 45 minutes to get to the restaurant after calling in our orders, and our pupusas were piping hot. The older lady who gave us our order commented on my chunky baby and was very pleasant and sweet. They have high chairs, a TV that was showing a soccer game, and a bathroom. This is an easy 5 star for me and my family. Stopped here after the boys haircut across the street. We ordered lots of good stuff. We got some pupusas, cheese, beef and cheese, pork and the kids ate them up quick. We also got two orders of chicken quesadillas and yucca and Chicharron plate which is pretty much carnitas for the chicharron. Everything tasted great and we finished everything. The customer service is good since pretty much you order at the front and they call out your number and grab your order. She provided us with mild and spicy salsa and the pickled cabbage mix for the pupusas. The place was pretty slow when we arrived and than the lunch rush kicked in and the tables quickly got occupied.
