From the moment I walked in, the greeting and the professionalism from the hostess, Briana, was so spot on, I knew the rest of the dinning experience would be epic. I went ahead and ordered the molcajete after fumbling through my broken espanol with the kind waitress; her English was far better and she was so pleasant when offering suggestions on the menu. WOW!!! Everything from presentation to temperature (it came out sizzling) and cooking was absolutely exquisite!!! The combination of seafood, steak and cactus was a medley of flavors I will not soon forget. This molcajete was original, perfectly cooked and absolutely delish!!! Though it took some time to finish, (Super hot and massive), I sat there for at least 40 minutes conquering the delicacy....an absolute premier dinning experience from "soup to nuts"; atmosphere, staff, quality, quantity, and presentation were all ON POINT! I returned a few weeks later determined to try something else, but the previous experience was so freakin awesome, I did a repeat and found my self in the same heavenly bliss for round two. I took a friend however that ordered some fish and chile relleno. It was cooked to perfection. The wait staff are attentive but not hovering and bothersome. We were seated by Briana again (WOW, this young professional provides the warmest smile and greeting upon entrance and exit every time; probably the warmest and most attractive hostess I've seen in Mexico and always engaging in witty conversation upon departure). This restaurant hits a home run with CONSISTENCY and delivering the total dinning experience. By far, my favorite restaurant in TJ and Baja!! Thanks La Fogata, sincerely, J.. Oh, and BTW, to the morons that posted on here bitching about having to "wait so long for the check"...Its common practice in many Mexican restaurants for the customer to request, "La Cuenta" because it is rude for the staff to appear to be pushing you out by delivering the check in advance of a formal request. You ask when you're ready, and they typically promptly provide the check. Know your culture you're in and quit being the "Ugly American"!! read more
