Absolute hidden gem in Hialeah! Took my brother out here while he's recovering from surgery, and La Fresa Francesa completely delivered. Every single dish was a hit--the escargot, soup, french toast, the egg soufflé, everything was delicious. The space has this amazing maximalist vibe while keeping the atmosphere totally casual and relaxed. Even with just a wine and beer license, the good times flow easily. I had a Spritz or two! My goodness. Let me just start with that. I ordered take out and all I have to say is BRAVO! This review is based on the food. Got the steak frites and a crepe of butter and sugar. Let me start with the steak frites. I can appreciate the fries weren't thick cut or anything. This was a plus and I'll explain why shortly. That steak was SUPER tender and juicy. Those fries quickly absorbed those flavors. Additionally, they served it with some sauces and let me say I don't really like steak sauces or anything but what they had was just icing on what was already a beautiful cake. I had the Pan seared branzino 2/5 - now hear me out - it was five out of five in texture, soft and buttery, and presentation BUT it was cook with SO MUCH BUTTER, that the roof of my mouth & tongue were coated in it and I couldnt tastes anything else! It was so much butter that I felt my lips, tongue and throat irritated. Additionally, im not sure why they didn't pair this dish with a mash or a roasted potatoes, instead of only cooked down spinach. It is so small my mom's wheelchair did not fit in the last room of the restaurant. As soon as you enter you see a cute Eiffel tower and the rest of the restaurant is decorated in French decor. The attention to detail is unreal. We started with the baked vacherin and French onion soup. The soup was not bad. The baked vacherin is melted cheese. In my opinion, this was not worth it. It was $28 for what tasted like melted Brie cheese and it took a very long time to come out. We then ordered the steak frites. This steak was delicious. We talked about it for a few days of how good it was Our drinks were always full and for the most part all our food came out quickly. The service was also not bad. I have to start with dessert because it was one of the best crème brûlée I have ever tasted, the tanginess and zest of the orange, elevated the flavor and texture. We order the steak which was paired with crispy rosemary fries, the steak was absolutely tender and flavorful. As an appetizer, we ordered the baked cheese which had the best cheese pull. The cheese itself was not over powered in flavor , but very subtle and paired nicely with the sweet honey on a toasted baguette. Guava foi gras: sandwiched between pastelito pastry shells, it's topped with Redland guava jam and pistachio. So good you'll want more than one. 10/10 2. Épinards Galette: creamed spinach on buckwheat crepe with egg and duck fat potatoes. A good choice for those who are gluten intolerant. Buckwheat is GF. Not the most exciting of dishes but it's one that those with gluten issues can eat. 8/10 3. Macchiato: served in a sweet floral demitasse that reminds me of the tea set one has as children. 10/10 4. It has been a while since my last visit to La Fresa Francesa and nothing has changed : great service and delicious food in cozy and intimate setting. I enjoyed everything, from the wine to the friendly service to the last bite I had. One of the things I like from this place is their by the glass wine selection. It's not an extensive one but definitely of great value and quality. I went with the recommendation, a Rioja Reserve, and it was Spain in a glass, nice balance between fruit and tannins, medium body. I couldn't resist and had a second glass. For the appetizers, the foei gras is a must, after all this is a French restaurant. It was so creamy, like butter. The jam is served with complements it so well. I could have only this dish and bread for dinner. Just delicious! I also had the Gnocchi. What I loved from this dish was the smokiness, love it. For the main dishes, duck leg and steak with fries. The duck was perfectly cooked, soft, coming off the bone so nicely. And with the confetti, what an explosion of flavors. Inside however you will find an adorable restaurant with great service and excellent food. The decor is cozy and feels old timey french. Staff were very welcoming and were helpful and quick when something went wrong with our order. We had a spinach galette and a brie sandwich. Both were excellent, but the galette was a show stopper. Everything down to the potatoes on the side was wonderful. The price was extremely fair, especially for the quality of the experience. I think it was about $40 for two people with tip. I will preface to say I do not normally venture into Hialeah and the terrible parking lot situation at the restaurant had me to an irritable start but it mostly only got better from there. All the food and drinks we tried were amazing, the service was just a tiny bit lacking. Nothing egregious but our waiter was a bit snappy when we were expressed we wanted separate checks and saw them after that few and far between. The bacon dates were delicious, as was the pear jam and Brie sandwich but the standout was the croque Madame. The pink sangria was good and honestly stronger than it tasted! What a great find! On a lazy Sunday afternoon, my husband and I found one of our favorite restaurants in Miami or should I say Hialeah. Reservations are helpful but we arrived without one and we were seated quickly. The ambiance was incredible. As you walked through the door, you entered into a world like no other. It felt like you were in a salon in Paris in the 1920s. Our server guided us through the menu. There was so much to pick from and before we knew it, we had ordered the bacon wrapped dates, the ham and cheese complete galette ( it's a buckwheat wrap with ham and cheese with a fried egg) and Le Grand Fresa Burger. I've eaten here a few times and the food and service are always very good. Tonight we started with the gnocchi which was like a gnocchi carbonara and was very good. Of all places I have met Owner / Chef Benoit several times in Reno at Belleville. So on a recent pass through Miami I made it a point to stop here to eat. What a great bonus to discover he served brunch on the weekends, so Saturday morning I ventured up to the Hialeah area. I was greeted promptly and offered a seat, which I requested on the small patio out front. It was a gorgeous sunny morning and I wasn't going to was any of it. The brunch menu was fabulous, if I hadn't already had my heart set on a croque madam, it would have been a difficult decision. The fresh bread was layered with thin slices of ham and gruyere cheese and perfectly grilled, then blanketed with a silky gruyere cheese sauce and topped with a farm fresh soft egg. The bonus to sandwich were the duck confit potatoes. Mmmm. Accompanied by a fresh guava mimosa. How much better could the day start than all of this. The staff was fantastic- refilling water, offering another mimosa and clearing the table while I just enjoyed the morning. I can't wait to stop in again on my next pass through Miami. To my surprise, we came across La Fresa Francesa which offered what seemed to be a Cuban-French type of menu. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were a bit skeptical, and almost left to go find another place to eat at... however, we were too curious since all the reviews rave about it! So... how bad can it really be? It was amazing and everything we were hoping to taste! We really loved the place! It's very quaint, a truly small restaurant, nothing presumptuous, and we loved it! Everything about it had a very European small mom and pops restaurant feel. The staff seemed to be almost all Cuban, or Spanish, but the flavors were spot on Cuban & French like you wouldn't believe! We appreciated how straight forward the flavors were in each of the dishes we ordered. The presentation was nothing to brag about, just like the location, but the flavors spoke for themselves and made the entire experience really enjoyable. We had a pleasant server who made some great recommendations, and he had the perfect timing with checking in on our tables, just enough to make sure we were attended to, but not too much so we could have our privacy while enjoying our food. La Francesa is a hidden gem in Hialeah. It is located in a shopping center off of okeeckobee road where you would miss it if you didn't intentionally go there. The decor is as French as the name. It is a small place with a lot of character. The food is amazing. No one appetizer or dish we had was better than the other. The service was amazing. I requested a Baileys with dessert and they did not have because they only serve wine and beer and the bartender mixed me a drink that was just what I needed. Finding myself cruising L'Arrondisment Okeechobee during petit dejeuner (that's French for brunch) I had a chance to stop by an old favorite, La Fresa Francesa this Sunday morning. It's expanded since that Saturday close to seven years ago, with a cool little patio for outside seating, French art and still some bottles. Sandy and Ben have maintained and grown the first modern restaurant in Hialeah from just a brunch spot to dinner and occasional themed popups such as "PastaLeah" for Italian food (note to self: must stop by for this). Today though, I took a refresher course in their brunch classics. With both their helicopter latte and a Hialeah classic cortadito (in the traditional Cuban coffee cups) providing the caffeine for a busy Sunday of errands, I also savored the guava bellini (with real guava). Packed with fresh arugula, melted brie, a taste of honey and added ham on La Brea bread, the Brie & Pear sandwich is always a must have. The creamy scrambled egg cocotte, with a subtly sharp flavor from cheese and chives is another yummy way to enjoy protein.
