July 4, 2026. After leaving work, I went straight to Happy Wine Calle Ocho. Even though I wasn't sure they'd be open due to the holiday, they were it was still before 5pm. There were very few tables occupied and only one person at the bar. My usual spot was available, so I sat at the bar without hesitation. Greta welcomed me and handed me a menu. I noticed they have a new menu with a very nice design. As usual, they also offer daily specials. To my disappointment, when I tried to order one of the specials the Branzino Mediterraneo & Risotto Greta told me it had already run out. I ended up ordering the Steamed Mussels instead. For my drink, I was undecided between wine or beer, and she recommended the Inedit Damm. The beer was very good you could clearly taste many of the ingredients. The mussels arrived with bread and butter, plus some tasty house made potato chips on the side. The texture and overall flavor were phenomenal you could see and taste the pieces of pancetta and the thin slices of garlic. I ended up using a spoon to enjoy every bit of the broth and ingredients. I also noticed that both the bar and tables have purse hooks, which is a very practical and thoughtful detail. I finished with a glass of white wine and headed home until next time. read more

This is a great restaurant! We were seated promptly and the ambiance is really nice. We chose our bottle of wine and sat down. Our server was very friendly. We shared the stuffed dates, the manchego and jamon panini, the prosciutto panini, the jamón and bacalao croquettes and the gambas. All were tasty. Like many over here I have being visiting this place for more than 15 years. My husband and I were one of the few people that support this business through pandemic in 2020. We used to recommend this place for friends and family and have lovely memories from here but today, so sadly for us, was a experience we don't deserve to anyone. Even though we had no reservation, we were seated after 20 minutes, which was super good because the place was packed. Service was kind of slow and I kept repeating myself let's give it a chance, but when the bill came, to our surprise could you believe they charge you $4 for a basket with 4 slices of bread that they offered to you complementary with the Papaya grilled burrata that cost $18.99? And it top of that they charged you $18 for few slices of bread with tomatoes, called Pantumaca, that is not even on the Menu. So disappointing with today's visit. read more

So we decided to give this place a second chance and attended another one of their wine tasting events. This time, I made sure to reserve a table several days in advance to avoid any mix-ups. Upon arrival, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. The wine tasting was enjoyable, and we even decided to purchase a separate bottle to enjoy with our tapas. However, I have to mention that the wine prices here are definitely on the higher end. Everything seemed to be going smoothly--until it came time to pay the bill. After we paid, I casually joked with our server about the after-dinner drink we were offered on our previous visit and asked if they still offered it. To my surprise, the owner, Johanna, came to our table visibly upset and began confronting me over my previous three-star review. She even showed it to me on her phone while raising her voice, creating quite a scene in front of other guests. She then told us we were no longer welcome and asked us to leave. I was honestly shocked and disappointed by how unprofessionally this was handled. I've never been treated with such disrespect as a paying customer. After this experience, I looked further into the establishment and noticed that, according to public records, they had a recent inspection on October 8, 2025, with multiple violations listed. Happy Wine has a great vibe. There was live music and delicious wine & bites. We enjoyed 3 different bottles, charcuterie, and more. I could have stayed there all day. My partner and I went with our friend who is a sommelier & it contributed to an amazing experience there . We were a bit disappointed with our waiter experience because we felt like they were not very attentive. For the last bottle we chose , we needed 3 flute glasses and they only brought us two when we were a party of three. Then they disappeared and we hadn't seen them in a while and when they came back, they said they close in a few minutes which was strange because we chose the bottle at least an hour before closing. We felt a bit uncomfortable and rushed considering we're purchasing three bottles and a multitude of food dishes. It was most frustrating because there were many tables, actively drinking bottles of wine, celebrating, birthdays, and not being closed out of their tabs. Other than that strange moment, we liked the food and LOVED the wine offerings. I would recommend visiting . There was wine tasting going on and it was enjoyable. We ordered boquerones $12 and my only complaint is that they serve them with only 2 small pieces of bread. Additional bread will cost you. Talk about a happening place, I was not expecting this place to be packed when I walked in on a Thursday evening,, but it was and made for an entertaining and lively night. Luckily my friend and I were able to score 2 seats at the bar and order drinks and bites while enjoying the Flamenco performance going on that evening, which I later saw on the menu that from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 7 they have live music. We decided to order The Croquetas con caviar which paired nicely with our glass of Moët. Afterwards I also ordered a glass of Italian red wine they were featuring that night, well balanced just like I like my reds. We used to visit this spot over 20 years ago. It was a friendly place with good service, reasonable prices and great ambiance. Now as soon as you walk in is not to serve you but how much money they can make out of you. At times it feels a little disrespectful and uncomfortable. We have tried it a couple of times in the last year but keep feeling disappointed. It used to be like a nice warehouse wine spot with a couple of things to munch and just people hanging, singing and even that it just doesn't feel the same. The personnel is not the same or friendly and the appetizers are pricey and don't taste good. Don't think we will be returning. read more

My husband and I really like this place we have been here like 4 times. They have live music which makes the atmosphere even better. They have a huge selection of wines they range from $10 bucks per bottle and up, lots to choose from do keep in mind they charge an opening and serving fee per bottle I think $10 per bottle. The food is really good. Some plates can be pricey for the portions. The paninis are excellent and great priced. The chicken sandwich is delicious also the mixed bored is great to share while enjoying your wine. They also have happy hour but we have never made it. So sad... first time at this little local spot. So cute and quaint. But we walked in at 6, place is empty and they tell us we can sit you but we have reservations at 815. We ordered a few tapas and entrees and bottles of wine. Before 8 the server brings the check such was over three hundred dollars and kindly asks us to leave. But most tables are empty waiting for the reservations to arrive. The music was balads, poorly sung, which h is fun if you're buzzed and know all the words. I would not return here. If you e ever been to Spain you would know they would never treat their guests this way. We had such a fun night here! This seems like it is a wine store by day, but it turns into a party at night. There were 2 seatings when we went on a Friday night (one at 6pm and one at 8:30pm), and the live music starts at 7pm. We took the 6pm reservation because we were told the music would begin then. The good news is, we were not kicked out by 8:30pm (probably because we had already ordered 3 bottles and a buncha food by then) and were able to enjoy the music all night! Went by Happy Wine last night for a wine tasting and it was so much fun! First of all, you got to taste 6 wines and have sample of pata negra jamon all for $10! All the wines pretty good and jamon was delish! Happy Wine is a chill place to have some fun! The staff was very friendly and easy going. Been here many times but today I got to enjoy a flamenco show performed by my friend Salvador and his guitarist and dancer and got to spend time with his wife and also friend Iri. I've been telling my sister who introduced me to this little hidden gem for us to visit on a Thursday night so she'd get to meet them as well. Tonight was that night and we had a blast but also got to try a few other menu items I've never tried here. We got cod fish croquetas, my usual pulpo a la gallega, grilled octopus, tostones topped with shrimp and the chistorras that I just love here. Only thing I hadn't tasted before was the grilled octopus and I just loved everything about it but especially that sauce on the side. My octopus a la gallega is always to die for and cooked to perfection. Got me a bottle of Moët when I arrived and then a few glasses of Sauvignon Blanc to pair with food. I've loved this little joint since the first time I came with sis last year. Vibes are always immaculate and most patrons mingle and socialize with one another so it feels like a family in there and that's a bonus in my book.
