Service was exceptional, you can dine in or take out, and the young gentleman gave some great suggestions. We started with the small hummus which turned out to be large enough for 3-4 people and their fresh out of the oven bread. Lunch specials are available all day, we were told the difference between lunch and dinner portions is really the amount of hummus you get with your meal. I ordered takeout from them, and didn't realize they were closing in 3 minutes! They graciously asked how long it would take for me to get there and waited for me to pick up my food. I ordered a chicken and lamb patter for two, which had fries and rice. It also came with hummus and bread. I also ordered a lunch portion of chicken breast that came with rice as well. Ordered two mujadra pitas and they had more "salad ingredients" in them, than lentils. No caramelized onions, no flavor whatsoever. Terrible. There are much better places nearby. I reviewed this restaurant 8 years ago and reviewing it again. We LOVE to eat here! Obsessed with the quality of the food, the freshness, the flavors, homemade everything! It's absolutely delicious! This restaurant is clean. The staff is nice, and I just love the girls...friendly and so helpful when you don't know what you want. We've been patrons since they opened and when we travel there have been zero Mediterranean restaurants that have this quality and flavor fuel cuisine. I am in love with La Fresh. We recently moved to Northville, and I am so grateful to have found this nearby Mediterranean gem. They have the best hummus and hot bread that I have ever had. Please do not take that lightly - I am well versed in hummus and bread. Whenever we have company, we treat our guests to this. My other absolute favorite things is their fattoush salad and dressing. It is particularly fresh - it stays fresh for leftover lunches for days! That really says something! We typically get their lamb shawarma and chicken shawarma sandwiches. They are huge. Another thing I will mention is their lunch specials (served all day). They are a neatly packaged offering where you pick your sides. It is pretty close to perfect. It is also enough for two. You can tell the food is high quality and it is packaged with care. It is a little pricey in comparison to other restaurants with similar cuisine, but it is worth every penny. One last thing... I recently had their cheese pizza (baked in their wood bread oven) and it was remarkably tasty. I actually piled fattoush salad on it and used it as a vessel to get it into my mouth. De-lish. The food is very hit or miss, which is especially disappointing given that the prices are far from cheap. The salads often seem less than fresh, and today's rice pudding was badly burned. Covering it with extra pistachios didn't hide the overwhelming burnt taste. Serving food of this quality is unacceptable and potentially unhealthy. In addition to being able to work from home in sweatpants during the pandemic, another benefit of WFH is that we are also able to indulge in garlic sauce any/every day of the week. So I was eager to try out La Fresh, discovered recently on Yelp. Living in Michigan, and specifically working in Dearborn, I am exposed to high-quality recipes and preparations from local restaurants. I do have my favorites, as attested in reviews and photos, and didn't know how La Fresh would compare. After I placed my order online, I arrived in time to pick up my order. Unfortunately, on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was slammed with orders, based on the number of tickets lined up. The staff would call out the orders of those waiting, hopefully to speed up the process. Cautious, I waited outside while my meal was being prepared and packaged up - heads up, please bring your patience on these evenings. I ordered the beef shish kebab with grilled vegetables. The beef was nicely marbled and at the requested rare temperature, it was incredibly tender and nicely seasoned. The accompanying fattoush salad was huge and fresh. I saved the majority for a future lunch since there was already so much food. In addition, I ordered a side of baba ghanoush, my preferred spread, which was creamy, smooth, with a slight bitter edge, and a biting, fiery garlic sauce. The latter was yum yum yum. All of this came with a bag of still hot and pillowy pita bread. The puffed bread was the perfect delivery mechanism for the baba ghanoush and the garlic sauce. So good, it is no wonder that so many pita breads were being churned out at the restaurant. Service was fine. We ordered spicy hummus, a Chicken shawarma plate, double lentil soup, small tabouli, large fattoush salad with grilled chicken breasts, no pita. The chicken shawarma plate dinner seems pricey at $16.49 for just shaved shawarma meat. They gave me a lot of meat on my Fattoush, the shawarma meat plate and on the salad is quite dry, very dry. Decent flavor, just bone dry is all. The dressing is good. Still had a piece of crispy pita in my salad. An escapee. The tabouli is good, solid small salad is quite big. The lentil soup is okay, super thick, tastes decent. The spicy hummus isn't bad. The pita pockets are good as always. The chicken shawarma plate was about a 2 for us. Ordered the Chicken Shuwarma. Came with salad and hummus. The salad and hummus were ok, but the shawarma was not really a shawarma. It was just a grilled chicken breast (I am not even sure it is chicken, it felt like it is Turkey), cut to small pieces. I could not even notice any trace of Cumin which is a necessity for a good shuwarma. I also had the chicken soup that was alright. We stopped by here after Sunday service in the area. It was busy Sunday so our food took about 25 mins. Their lunch deal is a-bit expensive but you got what you paid for. My fave was fattoush salad which wasn't pre mixed like any other places we've had before. We ate our lunch and had some leftovers for the next meal so I'd say, the portion was pretty good. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich and I added lettuce (up charge), extra pickles (up charge) and extra garlic (up charge). So...with all this extra, you'd think I was about to indulge in the most delicious shawarma sandwich ever...unfortunately not the case. They did add lettuce-but the garlic and pickles were sparse making the sandwich even less tasty and dry! With all the shawarma around-this isn't my choice, but their fries are good and so were the chicken strips. We also ordered the chicken manakish sandwich-(pictured) and she couldn't even eat it...the chicken was so dry and really lacked flavor it basically left the same way it arrived. I really do not like giving out poor reviews, but after 2.5 years I think the community needs to know. I am a delivery driver and although I have long thought this place offered the absolute worst lentil soup in all of metro Detroit, I wanted to make sure it was not a one off bad batch. I have ordered it on 3 separate occasions. My daughter said it tastes like seasoned gravy. It is awful. But that is not all. Employees here always seem super stressed. It does not seem like a friendly environment at all. Today - while waiting more than 20 minutes so far on a delivery order (they are always super late) I over heard an employee tell a customer that the prices on the menu have gone up but they do not have the new menus yet. The customer was upset (a $10 plus difference) but did not argue. Seems to me they should offer the price on the menu until the new one comes in. Seriously- there is some outstanding mediterranean food with 15 minutes either direction. It is worth the drive to get good food and excellent customer service elsewhere. Leave the seasoned gravy (aka lentil soup) behind and make a drive to one of the other local places I have recommended. read more

Favorite Mediterranean place nearby! There are so many options for Mediterranean around this area and each restaurant has something special, but I've loved everything I've had from La Fresh! My favorite would be their Chicken and Meat Shawarma plate. Everything is tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The rice with almonds is delish and I usually get a side salad. Even the pickles are amazing with a hint of spice. The plate lasts me about 2 days and the salad is a full meal on its own. The best part of the La Fresh that puts it over the edge of greatness is their pita bread. I cannot remember a better pita. They're small and perfectly stuffable. I always order an extra dozen and they come out HOT and fresh. Bread is a weakness of mine, but I could survive on the pita alone. They are located in a small strip mall around the corner from Busch's. The big parking lot offers lots of room for parking and take out is a breeze. I have not seen any outdoor dining, just indoor. The best Mediterranean food I've had in the Detroit area. Everything you are looking for in atmosphere and quality for a casual spot for authentic food. The owner and service was friendly and quick. Stopped here for carryout today on my lunch break. Place was busy and I'm in my work uniform, so dining in wasn't an option for me. I looked at the review suggestions & tips, and decided that I'd also add on a cup of the Crushed Lentil Soup. Great decision! Lentils are good for pregnancy AND it tasted delicious. It had a very pronounced lemon taste to it and I loved it - SLIGHTLY reminded me of Chicken Lemon Rice Soup in terms of lemony-ness. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a lentil soup, so I don't remember if this is how it's supposed to taste or not. Either way - I wasn't disappointed. The Chicken Shawarma was good. The chicken was a little on the dry side, but the pickle kind of picked up where the "moisture" was lacking. There was garlic sauce on it, but it seemed like it had all kind of dropped to the bottom of the pita. That made for a pretty epic last bite! I wish every bite was filled with all that garlicky goodness! Did I mention that this Chicken Shawarma was about a foot long?!? I couldn't even eat my soup after I finished the shawarma - I had to save it for later. It was plenty of food. Even better was the bill came to $7.19. Didn't seem like an unreasonable price at all for what I got. For those who are considering stopping here on their lunch break - this place was PACKED at 12:15-12:30PM! When I went inside to pick up my order, there were 2 tables waiting to be seated and there wasn't an open table in sight. The cooks looked kind of frantic while preparing orders. They were busy! Hidden gem behind Busch's. I only order takeout, and it appears a lot of others do too. Came here for a change from the Mediterranean place by my house and stayed because of the PITA! The pita is the small, freshly baked pita pockets that they pull out of the oven fresh- so good! I come for their all day lunch specials, great value (~$11) that comes with a salad, pita, garlic (some of the better garlic around town), hummus, and rice (sub out the rice for vegetables, you won't regret it!) for the perfect portion size to fill even the hungriest person. If you want a lot of meat order the dinner combo as the lunch is a lighter option. Wife likes the fattoush salad. Warning: always takes 20+ minutes when ordering takeout, so plan ahead. So first off, it's great that there are so many options and the lunch portion is served all day. Everything was flavorful and served in huge portions! The pita they served with it came in a big bag and was SO soft and was honestly some of the best I've ever had. The garlic sauce on the side complemented everything very well. I will say the chicken was a little bit dry (but eating it with the rice + garlic/hummus made up for it!) and it did take an extra 20mins for our order to be ready. This place is so good. We just moved here from Madison, WI and I had places I loved there, but this place takes the cake. It truly is so fresh, large portions, and pretty fast in my opinion. I'm baffled that anyone would not like some of their food. We usually order the meat and chicken shawarma, tabouleh, fattoush, garlic sauce, grape leaves and falafel.... all of it is so amazing. The falafel is so crisp on the outside and yummy and warm on the inside. I grew up eating Lebanese food (good family friends) and their grape leaves bring me back.
