However, my biggest disappointment was the chicharrón ( nothing but inflated air ) It tasted store-bought instead of fresh and authentic, which was surprising for a restaurant representing Nicaraguan cuisine. That was honestly the only major issue with our visit. We grew up eating grandma's Nicaraguan dinners and this is as close as you'll find to five star fabulously prepared Nicaragua meals. I ordered my favorite, which is Lengua con tomates y gallo Pinto. It's sooo good. My mom ordered pescado, my gringa wife ordered pollo y carne, and my brother ordered steak con maduros, Fritos y papas.... They even have cacao y pinol. All sandy n grainy like grandma made. We have been to the few other Nicaraguan restaurants around. One over by Loyola high school off Olympic, funky location, difficult to get into. The Gallo Pinto in Azusa, which is an easier location to get into with a mix of Nicaraguan and Mexican food. And now we have found this location. And after enjoying all three, I will tell you that this food wise and service wise is the most authentic and flavorful choice. It is five star of Nicaragua food preparation. The only drawback is it's location, nothing you could do about that. My mom's in a wheelchair makes it a little bit challenging to get in because it's not ADA friendly. So plan ahead, use the bathroom before you get there. And be ready for one of the best Nicaragua dinners in the greater Los Angeles area.
