This chilero is delicious! You'll probably want to buy a jar to have at home like I did!

Very excited to have a restaurant nearby that serves Nicaraguan food! And their prices are very decent compared to other Nicaraguan restaurants we've been to. We've gone twice and the service is great, very friendly owners/servers. Their asada plate with salad, tajadas, gallo pinto & fried cheese was delicious! Especially with their tasty chilero! I liked their chilero so much, I even bought a jar of it to have at home. Oh yes, they also make good nacatamales! I haven't tried their Mexican food yet, but I'm sure it's just as delicious. The ambiance/vibe is chill & colorful with lively music playing in the background. Definitely recommend it!

    So delicious

The food was delicious and affordable the food was served quickly I had a very good experience and time at the restaurant. There's a lot of diversity and I just love the environment in here.

Food was great. Good portion side. Service was as okay. We did not get asked about drinks until later. Parking was in the street.

A cozy spot that caters to the locals, and I'm pretty sure I was the only non-Spanish speaker that day lol. All the same, the ladies running the restaurant were all super kind, if a bit surprised to see me eating at their establishment. Ordered gallo pinto (small) and nacatamal, both served in generous portions (enough for leftovers). Both were really tasty, hearty and flavorful. No frills, but I enjoyed them. Not expensive at all, totaling just under $15 that gave me two meals! Definitely try Nicaraguan food in your lifetime!

However, my biggest disappointment was the chicharrón ( nothing but inflated air ) It tasted store-bought instead of fresh and authentic, which was surprising for a restaurant representing Nicaraguan cuisine. That was honestly the only major issue with our visit. Everything else was good, but authentic, freshly made chicharrón would make a huge difference and better match the quality of the rest of the food. I hope this is something the restaurant can improve on because the potential is definitely there.

The meats were well-seasoned, tender, and had that great grilled, smoky taste you want from these dishes. We also ordered tostones on the side, which were crispy and great for dipping, but the real surprise was the fried cheese -- absolutely amazing. Salty, golden, and perfectly crisp on the outside while still soft inside. Easily one of the highlights of the meal. Overall, a really satisfying experience with hearty portions, authentic flavors, and sides that definitely deserve attention. I'd happily go back to try more from the menu. Service was great. They brought the food pretty quickly. And we're helpful on trying to decide what to eat. Everything in the menu look tasty and I think these were probably one of the top choices. There's plenty of seating good for family, friends, and for date dates. They do offer valley parking as well. Unless you find parking in the street.

It was my very first experience with Nicaraguan food, and I was honestly blown away. The nacatamales were huge, incredibly flavorful, and so good that we took about 20 home with us. I'm half Mexican and will confidently say: I actually prefer these over Mexican tamales. That first visit set the bar high, and I'm happy to say it's stayed consistent. We came back again last month to do the same thing--nacatamales and lunch--and once again, everything was delicious. This time, I ordered the caldo de res, which was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. My boyfriend ordered a plate with gallo pinto, and we each had a nacatamal while dining in. It was so much food--we were absolutely stuffed and even took some of the leftover caldo to go. For drinks, I always get the cacao, and my boyfriend gets the pitaya drink. Both are excellent--perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, and you can really taste that they're made without artificial sweeteners. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and lively. There was a man playing the keyboard and singing, families dining together, and the place was pretty busy, which added to the charm. Every time we've come here, the service has been incredibly kind and welcoming. Beyond the food, this place genuinely makes me feel closer to my boyfriend's background and culture, and that means a lot to me. Parking hasn't been an issue, prices are very reasonable for the portions, and I truly can't say enough good things. Consistently great food, warm people, and an experience that feels both comforting and special. We'll absolutely keep coming back.

Very small and delicious family-owned, hole in the wall restaurant!…read more Parking can be difficult since they don't have their own parking lot but there is street parking if you're lucky! Inside was quite small and doesn't have too much seating. Don't come here if you're in a hurry because food takes awhile. My group of 5 waited ~20 min for our food after ordering. The restaurant can be easily missed since it is a little hidden and it seems like they keep the doors locked because of all the chaos happening lately. Menu had a good variety of meat and seafood dishes. Pricing was reasonable and most of the dishes were ~$20+. Portions are HUGE so make sure to come with a big appetite! Service was very friendly and welcoming Got #9 (Fritanga) - $20.50 and it came with gallo pinto (rice and beans), arroz blanco (white rice), carne asada (grilled meat), tajada frita (fried sliced green plantain), platano frito (fried ripe plantain), maduros (sweet plantain), yuca, queso frito (fried cheese), tortilla and cabbage salad. The Gallo pinto was a little dry and could use a little more seasoning but it was still pretty good. The carne asada was quite flavorful and would have been better if it was more tender. The fried plantains were amazing and super sweet! The fried cheese was interesting and so delicious! The cabbage salad reminded me of a coleslaw so it was nothing special. Overall, I really enjoyed how much food was given and most of the items were very good! This was 8/10 The Maracuya (Passionfruit) drink ($7.50) was way too sweet that I had to add water so that it would be less sweet. I didn't enjoy this and it didn't taste fresh so this was 5/10 Would definitely recommend and return

The food is mediocre. This is one of the closest Nicaraguan places near my family's neighborhood. I'm not impressed. The cacao is real good so is the Fritanga. Today, I tried carne desmenuzada (shredded beef) no flavor whatsoever. I'm not coming back. I paid $81.00 and left the rest of the food. There's only three car spaces to park. The waiter is a teenager. He's very shy. Cute kid, but professionals would be better to serve. Their cook needs to improve or this place is not going to survive with their $$$ prices. I would gladly paid but not for their food or the cuisine they prepped.

We grew up eating grandma's Nicaraguan dinners and this is as close as you'll find to five star fabulously prepared Nicaragua meals. I ordered my favorite, which is Lengua con tomates y gallo Pinto. It's sooo good. My mom ordered pescado, my gringa wife ordered pollo y carne, and my brother ordered steak con maduros, Fritos y papas.... They even have cacao y pinol. All sandy n grainy like grandma made. We have been to the few other Nicaraguan restaurants around. One over by Loyola high school off Olympic, funky location, difficult to get into. The Gallo Pinto in Azusa, which is an easier location to get into with a mix of Nicaraguan and Mexican food. And now we have found this location. And after enjoying all three, I will tell you that this food wise and service wise is the most authentic and flavorful choice. It is five star of Nicaragua food preparation. The only drawback is it's location, nothing you could do about that. My mom's in a wheelchair makes it a little bit challenging to get in because it's not ADA friendly. So plan ahead, use the bathroom before you get there. And be ready for one of the best Nicaragua dinners in the greater Los Angeles area.
