Staff is very nice. I ordered the Tuna Sandwich. The only reason I would not give this establishment 5 stars is because I had to pay extra for capers on the sandwich, and there were barely 4-5 on each half. A total of 8-10 capers on a sandwich at an additional charge of $.75 seems steep to me, especially since the sandwich on wheat bread was already $15. I also ordered the Almond Croissant ($4+) and a very good Salted-Caramel latte (almost $8). I hated having to pay an extra dollar for oat milk, but I guess these days there is an upcharge for everything. Will I go back? Definitely. I will budget $15 once a month or every other week for the Tuna Sandwich. Definitely tasty!! read more

Stumbled into the cutest little breakfast/lunch/dessert gem and immediately wanted to stay all afternoon The vibe is cozy-modern with pastries staring at you from the counter saying 'you know you want one.' I ordered the lavender latte (SO good -- floral without tasting like soap ) and the breakfast burrito, which was hearty, fresh, and exactly what I wanted with coffee. My friend got an iced tea served in the most charming mason jar setup that somehow made it taste even more refreshing. One of my favorite touches: you order at the counter and if you're dining in, they hand you an adorable little street sign marker for your table while they bring your food out. Such a fun detail that adds to the whole experience. Also... the pastry case deserves its own fan club. Between the croissants, muffins, cookies, and gelato, self-control is truly tested here. Perfect spot for a casual brunch, coffee catch-up, or treating yourself to dessert after a long day. If I lived closer I'd definitely add this one to my regular rotation. read more

Wow! This place is so much bigger than I thought it would be, having only seen it from the outside -- and they have so many things, too! Lots of seating, cool-looking lighting, a great selection of drinks, yummy gelato (I tried the Cherry Blossom -- amazing!), soups, salads, sandwiches, pastries, oh my goodness! The staff are all very nice and welcoming, too .... When I went it was quiet but I hear it can get very crowded and at certain times, the only two upstairs tables are reserved for a runners' group. There are (rather steep, if only a few) stairs and also a ramp to get to the downstairs area, but the ramp is rather long and involves having to make a 180 degree turn. I think it's doable for those who can walk it but if one is using a wheelchair, I'm not so sure because there is a table in the space where some part of a chair-on-wheels might go -- so in other words, if the chair is very narrow, okay! If not, I think maybe not .... I didn't actually measure it, but it just seemed a little narrow to me. The bathrooms have really cool tiles in them, and there is a lot of stony texture on the exterior wall. There are some pretty, inspiring black-and-white paintings and at least one quote painted on the walls outside the bathrooms -- I like these kinds of touches a lot. I found the tomato soup to be much more filling and satisfying than expected, having forgotten one could become quite full on such a dish. I took much of it home and enjoyed it at room temperature on the porch a bit later in the day, so I can attest to the fact that this soup is delicious both hot and cooled down. I was surprised by the taste of the toasted cheese and was informed by my more-astute-than-I dining partner that all their bread is gluten-free. I hadn't noticed. I'm not sure exactly how it normally comes because seeing that they had basil, I requested a leaf and got a very nice-looking sprig! So very fresh, wow! This (early-ish spring) is probably a rather perfect time to enjoy the available outdoor seating area -- maybe I will next time .... I'm especially glad to know that my old fave Filipino grocery store that used to be on this corner has been converted into such a worthwhile, pretty, welcoming, and community-building hub! :-D Overall, highly recommended! Although I've had gelato here in the past, I had never had their coffee so it was time to try it out. This is a hidden spot in a very small strip area in Kensington. There is some parking but not a ton. Inside is larger than you would think. Plenty of seating and some music plays overhead. In addition to gelato, they sell some eats but I was just there for the coffee. I ordered my usual latte and was hoping for very good given they have a very nice La Marzocco machine and since they have the word latte highlighted in their name and logo, it would make sense it is one of their specialties. My drink was served in a black ceramic mug, so that was good. The drink looked to be prepared well. The temperature was a tad hot but not too bad and the milk texture was nice with a solid heart drawn as latte art. The flavor of the espresso certainly comes thru the milk well. It is flavorful but with a slightly stronger/bitter after taste. Tough to say why. Perhaps the beans themselves. Perhaps the grind wasn't perfectly dialed in. Perhaps the slight overheating of the milk. It is possible that with a slight adjustment on any of these you would get a great drink but as is, it was good but not fantastic. read more

Come for the coffee, stay for the all day breakfast. Service is youthful and efficient. Nice coffee house atmosphere. You could stay here with a laptop or bring a toddler to brunch. Stopped by La Gelatteria recently with Jasmine, we grabbed the maple chai and a Nutella latte, both smooth, comforting, and perfectly balanced. What a hidden gem! Cute coffee shop that serves variety of coffees, all day breakfast, pastries, gelato and sorbet. We stopped by for breakfast and grabbed two drinks and a breakfast sandwich. We ordered a Nutella coffee, maple chai latte, and hot honey bacon egg and cheese sandwich. The Nutella coffee was light and I was expecting a little more hazelnut chocolate flavor. The maple chai was delicious, very flavorful with the hint of maple and cinnamon. The breakfast sandwich was delicious! Cheesy, eggy? sweet and spicy from the hot honey, the bread was soft and fluffy. I also enjoyed the side salad that was added, the dressing was tasty, light and refreshing. There's plenty of seating area inside so it wasn't hard to find an open table. I thought it was cool to use street names as your table number. The service was kind of slow, our breakfast came out faster than the drinks. We had to go check in on our drinks because it took a while after our sandwich arrived to the table. We came to try this cafe out after hearing about the concept of latte flights and wanting to try them. The cafe itself was cute and had a variety of seating options. Our food was tasty and came out relatively quickly. However, we finished our food and still had not received our lattes. I took 25 minutes for one flight to come out and almost 40 for the other one. They were not very crowded and either forgot to make the lattes or took awhile to make each one. When we did get the lattes, we both enjoyed 2 out of 4 of the selections. While the concept of a latte flight is really cool, they need to work on making them more efficiently as not many people have the time to wait around for 40 minute for their drink. read more

Ok so the building is not special An they open late for a coffee shop BUT What a unique experience getting a flight of lattes I am not a normal latte drinker, but I really had a fun time trying the different flavors. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch was actually really good. If you are nearby here (30min or less) I would say it is worth the drive over. My recommendation to them would be to find a flight cup that holds heat better, by the 4 cup, I felt like I had to do it like a shot to have any chance of it being warm, but it was still good. Lovely spot for breakfast! We came early and it wasn't busy. There's ample seating though a small parking lot right outside (though seemed like there might be more around back). They have really creative latte flavors. We tried the rose cardamon and honey pistacchio, which were both incredibly delicious! Also a nice food menu. The cafe was a little crowded, but there were a plenty of tables, so easy to sit down. While I was only interested in coffee and gelato that day, the breakfast menu was really appealing, so I'd love to try them next time. After checking out the gelato showcase, I sampled two flavors and got Honey mascarpone fig. Surprisingly, this gelato had a less creamy and dense texture so it melted like sorbet and was refreshing. The mild honey sweetness and hint of fig flavor were a great match. My husband ordered an espresso affogato. The creamy rich chocolate gelato went well with espresso. Espresso super-impressive, however I witnessed a needlessly unsanitary action by an employee that will stop me from returning. While refilling the flavored syrup containers behind the counter, an employee dropped the lid of the plastic container they use to store bulk syrups in the refrigerator. The lid landed face down onto the floor. After waiting almost a minute to pick the lid up, she placed the lid back on the syrup container without washing or even rinsing the lid, and placed the container back into the refrigerator to use when additional refills were needed. Great swings by the door to lounge in which are unfortunately tied to the floor so the amount of property damage you can do is limited. Now for the food, I have been here twice and had the avocado toast, this basil, eggs, and the New Yorker bagel, which is just a simple lox sandwich. This place is so amazing and one of my favorite spots to go to on Sundays. The owner is great and the service was spot on. I really enjoyed the cakes and treats and I loved how the dining room is down the steps, and you can also enter from going down the steps in the front. We came here for brunch, and we ordered: +a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Latte - this was okay; I just wished it was served piping hot, but it was definitely more steamed milk heavy +a Smashed Avocado Toast - with chopped avocado, marinated onions, and cherry tomatoes, all set on top of three pain levain; generous amount of avocado, this was fresh and tasty +a Hot Tuna Melt - melted white cheddar cheese, onions, pickled cornichons, and black pepper on whole wheat; probably one of the worst toasts we've had - the tuna tasted terrible; not sure if it was from a can or what, but it seemed like it was, but a bad version of it; there was some weird seasoning and it was super fishy; didn't sit well with us and this was tossed +the BLT - with bacon, spring mix, tomatoes, and aioli mayo on a french white sliced bread; had plenty of thick-cut bacon, this was a good BLT sandwich Staff were somewhat friendly, and there were ample seating around. Nice cozy cafe with delicious Smashed Avocado Toast. I'm always wary of ordering Avocado Toast as I can easily make it at home, but the toast here is hands-down my favorite! The avocado was perfectly ripe and the blend of pepper, radish, onions, cherry tomato and fried egg on whole wheat toast was bursting with flavor! I enjoyed a couple of cups of my friend's Early Grey Black Tea, the large heaping pot was only $4 and we got 6 cups out of it! The spike hot chocolate and cocktails looked tempting, next time! Very cute cafe in the Kensington area! The interior is bright and airy and inviting. There's plenty of seating and everything looks clean. We tried some of the breakfast all day options from the menu. Breakfast tacos were pretty good - I added carnitas to mine and although the carnitas was a touch lacking in flavor, it came with some yummy salsa which helped. The breakfast burrito was a solid choice. We also tried the Kensington grilled cheese which had truffle and pear in it - that was absolutely delicious. No pics were taken because the aroma of it was too tempting to resist once it came out. I appreciate that this place also offers gluten free options - as well as dairy alternatives for the drinks!
