Service is friendly and warm. The food, however, absolutely takes the cake! Whether it's the flavors, the portions or the presentation, these guys nailed it perfectly. We ordered the Salchipapa as appetizer (comes with a serving of fries, corn and salsa verde). For entrees I ordered their Trio de Mariscos and the husband changed his mind and got the Pollo Saltado instead. I should have asked about the portion size because I was expecting a little bit each of calamari, chaufa de mariscos and white fish ceviche; what arrived was this HUGE platter with three deep bowls stuffed full with each of the three dishes. I could only muster enough appetite to finish the ceviche and nibble a little from the other two dishes. The husband couldn't finish his Pollo saltado either and we had to request take away containers for the remaining food. This, considering we're both foodies. These guys take their portion sizes very seriously. As far as the flavor goes, the food is absolutely delicious! The ceviche was the right amount of tangy, spicy goodness. The fried rice was perfectly spiced and balanced. The man loved his pollo saltado. The calamari had the perfect amount of crunch and the Salchipapa was delicious too! Both the salsa verde and the cilantro sauce were top notch. I also tried the Andean Black whiskey for the first time. It has an interesting flavor profile indeed. It starts off strong, has a smoky middle note and a smooth, sweet vanilla aftertaste. All in all, we now have some awesome memories of Peruvian food thanks to Memories of Peru. At that point, the server's tone became noticeably confrontational and he insisted that what had been served was the sauce I was describing. The interaction became uncomfortable, and the server continued to give us what felt like dirty looks for the remainder of our visit. The situation left us feeling unwelcome and ultimately made us want to leave. The order took a bit longer than expected and I noticed that it happened to all the tables. I tried the makis acevichados. The taste was good, but they are not the peruvian makis I have tried for years in Peru. This was something different, but still good. The tacu tacu with lomo saltado, though. It was really good. I liked when it comes with a tick sauce instead of just water. The tacu tacu may have needed to get crispy a little bit, but the flavor was amazing. Finally, they only have option of glass of chicha morada. The taste was really good, I could feel the spices.
