The food portions were good, but there was no flavor at all. I used a bunch of salt and that still didn't help. The bathrooms were kind of gross and I half expected a mouse to come running down the hallway where the bathrooms were. Their food is delicious zi try to go once a week u love their burritos and I ask them to cook up 2 steaks on the side for my 2 dogs MY dogs love their steaks the flavor if their different foods is mouth watering and they are good people in our small town who I am thankful for. We ate here recently and the food was very good (both shrimp dishes). This restaurant is very small, actually kind of a hole in the wall. The waitress is very "short" to the point of being rude so I will take a star off for that. This is the 5th time we have been here and I think the last. I have tried different dishes every time I come and it is just not authentic Mexican, it is what I call Oregon Mexican, to satisfy local tastes. I do understand this, as it is how one makes a go of a business, but there should be some consideration for customers that want food the way it is traditionally served. After all...this is a Mexican Restaurant and the chefs/owners have the know how and abilities to make it happen. At less out of pocket cost than the way they are serving it, as it relates to what I tried to order, please read below. The last two times I have been here I have ordered a burrito. The last time it came wet and I did not enjoy the puddled sauce, soggy lettuce and gooey tortilla. This time I asked for it dry so I could pick it up and eat it the way I do in Mexico, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, California and everywhere else I have traveled. I was told "We cant do that!" "Sorry, I dont understand, you cant do what...not serve it dry?" No reply just a stare from the woman taking my order. Confused, I asked a different way..."Can I have it with no sauce, lettuce or cheese on top?" Again...."No,we can't do that!" A little amazed...."Seriously someone cant just put a burrito on a plate and leave off the wet toppings?" .... "NO!" .... Ok, so I order something else even though I came there for a dry Carne Asada Burrito. So, I ordered a beef tostada. It came, and it was the size of a kids plate with a little meat, refried over blended beans, a little lettuce and a big dollop of Guac and sour creme. It was about 1" high in the center and not worth the $10.25 it cost. This is simple food...beef, lettuce a tortilla and some toppings. It is not French food with really expensive ingredients and hours of prep time. My plate should have had more lettuce, a few more tomatoes and salsa on it and less sour creme. The cost is pennies and the payoff is a happy, returning customer with a good review. I lived in Los Angeles for 58 years prior to moving to Oregon. I was married to a Hispanic wife for 15 years, we ate Mexican 3 to 4 times a week at home and out. I am used to Mexican food that tastes as if came from Mexico. After all, Mexico is only 2 hours from where we lived and 1/2 the cost of what it is up here in Oregon. In summation, I may have enjoyed a burrito dry, and my review would have been much different. But to say "No we dont do it that way." And to pour sauce all over my meal and hit it with lettuce and cheese when I asked for it to be dry...and I am paying for it...is short sighted and just not good business. I am disappointed... The only good thing I can say about my experience is this is the best Mexican place I have ate at in Myrtle Point (the only one here LOL)...but I still believe it lacks the Fire and Authenticity of true Mexican dinning. Good news...in North Bend there is a place with the same name....but way better "REAL" Mexican Food!!! SERVICE with a smile, and they do Dry Burritos. I guess they value their customers way more than the one in Myrtle Point. I STILL CANT BELIEVE PATTY...the waitress in Myrtle Point told me 3 times..."We cant do that!" Really....well you lost me and my friends as customers. Word of mouth is everything, I'm sorry you cant see that. read more

Other reviews touting this place as the best Mexican on the southern Oregon coast drew us in for a late lunch. Having grown up with fine Mexican food of Southern California, I wasn't sure what southern Oregon Mexican had to offer, but we were hungry. Nice quiet restaurant where the one staff person seemed to be both chef and server/cashier. I got the chicken mole, which was in a mole sauce that was unlike the usual darker moles that I usually see as the default mole. Tasty, but not sure I'd get it again. My wife got a steak dish which came in a heavy sauce with onions and peppers, and she was quite pleased with it. Rice and beans seemed pretty standard. Chips and salsa were ok too. I'd give this place 3 stars if it were in SoCal, but I suppose in rural Oregon, good Mexican is hard to come by: 4 stars. read more

Best Mexican restaurant on the southern Oregon coast. Small with about six booths and two tables. Often filled with locals and that says a lot. The food is excellent. The more common Mexican dishes, i.e. tacos, enchiladas, burritos and etc., are very good but where this restaurant shines is in the not so traditional. I think my overall favorite dish is Arroz con Pollo. "Boneless breast of chicken, sauteed in a special sauce with mushrooms, carrots and celery. Served over a bed of rice and melted Jack cheese." My wife's favorite is Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. "Prawns and mushrooms, sauteed in a sauce of butter, garlic and mild spices. Served with rice, beans and tortillas. I don't drink but my wife says their Margaritas are great. Don't order a "big" one if you're driving you might not be able to find the steering wheel. It's really big. read more

We have been to La Herradura a few times over a period of a few years. Each time my husband orders the same thing but I try to order something different each time. The cook has good days and bad days with the cooking. However, the waitress/owner at this establishment is extremely rude and hasn't changed her tune since we've been dining here. Last week we called to place a to-go order and they hung up on us. Apparently they do not need the business. Really over this small town restaurant and their rude behavior. My only hope for this place is that they read their reviews and change. read more

Really great decor, friendly staff I even met the owner who invited me to his North Bend/ Coos Bay location. As for the food, I really appreciate the free nachos and salsa the staff was really attentive with filling our salsa bowl and cups. My friend had the chicken mole which he said was really good and I had the shrimp with rice ( appears on the menu as camarones con arroz) it was cheesy and delicious with a soupy taste. The guacamole was alright nothing impressive. The dish that I would recommend, which I had on my first visit, was the shrimp chimichanga it was delicious perfectly seasoned and shrimp was distributed evenly among the dish. On my third visit I will definitely be getting that again. All in all it's a nice little spot where all the locals eat, I would def suggest it! read more

We are Myrtle Point locals and love good Mexican food. We are not interested in what the chain market carries and no fast food for us. Fortunately, Paco's Colonial Restaurant ten miles away in Coquille shines with careful cooking to order. But Paco is on vacation this week. La Herradura uses hand me down tortillas, has only one type of red sauce, bland, and, takes 20 minutes to rewarm stale and mushy meals. Their chili rellenos have no egg coating, you just get chiis. Their bacon-wrapped shrimp has sat long enough for the shrimp taste to be gone and the bacon to be almost ready for a supermarket bacon shaker. The growling, no eye contact cashier was astounded when I asked why she and her staff remains so unfriendly. They pretended not to ever have seen me. It is true we try them less than once a year in the hopes they get over themselves and become happy restauranteurs. Hasn't happened yet. This is Jan 27, 2022 and I could have written Patty S.'s. one star review from Nov 13, 2018. The help is still rude and the food lousy. Their response was to provide luke warm take out and to ask me where we lived. I don't take that as a threat, but it sure wasn't neighborly. Maybe the owners will get bought out. We need good restaurants, run by folks who like what they do. Oh, one star Alan! Nothing has improved. We have quit trying, it will take a change in ownership for us to go back. read more

They didn't have any Horchata, my husband's favorite drink, so our server brought us some Jamaica instead...it was wonderful. It's a Hibiscus tea that tastes similar to cranberries. Margaritas are the best anywhere, will knock your horseshoes off. The food is wonderful, portions are huge so expect to take half home. Favorites are the chipotle enchiladas, nachos (for the quacamole!), carne asada burrito and anything else that comes with that delicious red sauce.
