I have been going to this restaurant for 5+ years... today will be my last. Rice was flavorless & the meat was blood red, not even pinkish. Bought 3 completas (gallo pinto rice, the carne, maduros and cheese) my 20 min drive was not worth it. I called to ask the manager what was going on. She wanted to tell me I had the wrong number. When I told her I was there today and no I don't have the wrong number she responded with "que quieres". She wanted to argue with me that the price I paid was wrong ($12.99) per food order. She constantly told me I paid $12.25 per food container. And told me what I wanted her to do about it. That I didn't know what nica food tasted like. The whole conversation was not respectful and full of attitude. And utter disgust. read more

Wow what a great hidden gem. It's a Nicaragua restaurant they half great food it cafeteria style but this place is always busy. I was amazed with the amount of people coming in to get take out food. Went here back in January and it was honestly the best service that I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Our waiter was so helpful and polite. We were so pleased and returned two months later and this time things didn't go so well. You walk in and wait by the door and then have to go in the back and find someone to sit you. We had the same waiter and he looked like he was bothered and not having a good day. It happens, I know. The good wasn't as good as the first time but it was OK. They have the best potato salad. Great Nica food! My husband is from Nicaragua and he loves this place too. Their carne asada is so soft and juicy, the gallo pinto is really tasty and the fried cheese is perfectly fried and not too salty. We have never dined there, we always take to go since we live relatively close. But the place seems clean and the ladies that work their are always attentive and quick. The food seems really fresh, the best is when the new batch of fried cheese comes out from the back!! Ugh! So good! The staff is helpful and friendly even though I had a tough time deciding from their bountiful menu of deliciousness. I opted for two pork/potato/rice entrees wrapped in leaves. Ay ay ay, flavorful and filling, I enjoyed one for breakfast and one for dinner. My sweet pick of the day were the Coyoles en Miel ... labeled as plums but actually a type palm seed soaked in honey with hints of cinnamon and clove... upon researching I found that this is a typical Guatemalan/Honduran dessert. I also enjoyed some crispy bread with a spicy pepper dip that was zesty and unique. A cuban coffee and a fresh fruit drink in hand and I was on my way. Service (lately [last month or so]) has been phenomenal. Very polite, kind and sweet greetings from the ladies that serve you. I have been there on days where certain employees are short and unenthusiastic but not bad enough to where I care to remember a face. My husband and I love to come here and sometimes share a meal because the servings are huge. It's about $10 for a complete meal. We get about 4 huge beef chunks, a mountain of gallo pinto rice, a bag of cabbage salad (sometimes they'll throw in another if they know we're sharing), two slices of fried cheese, and about 3-4 sweet plantains. Nothing makes up for a slow weekend like a good, big breakfast at 1pm on a Sunday. This place serves breakfast all day and is pretty cheap, not as cheap as I had hoped but cheap considering that it's 6hrs later and I'm still full thanks to the huge portions! It is the Latin American version of a greasy spoon. For under $20 (including tax & a good tip) my hubs and I put down El Americano, consisting of 2 fried eggs, 2 pancakes, fried ham, bacon, hash browns (like McDonald's), french fries, toast and cafe con leche and a #6, 2 scrambled eggs (to which you can add tomato, green peppers, and onions at no extra charge), french fries, toast, fried ham and cafe con leche, and we added queso frito because, well, why not. El Americano was not the best because they are Latin American, duh. The pancakes were something I'd recommended skipping and the bacon was over cooked but no big, everything else was great! Service was wonderful and fairly quick considering the crowd that was accumulating during our visit. The scrambled eggs (which I ordered with tomatoes) were AWESOME and the bread was buttery and pressed flat just the way I love it. This immediately became a breakfast go to for our hungry fam. They accept credit cards after $5 and bring the bill with pieces of gum for everyone. Added bonus, we didn't stink like food when we walked out, SCORE! read more
