The shopping plaza was still half-asleep, so parking was a total non-issue -- I pulled right up to the door with tons of empty spots. Walking in, the place felt bright, spotlessly clean, and pleasantly quiet (just the low hum of the display coolers and the faint smell of fresh-baked dough in the air). The cases weren't fully stocked yet, which makes sense that early -- a few trays were still being brought out from the back. What was there looked legitimately fresh, with that telltale steam still rising off some of the items. The staff (two ladies behind the counter) greeted me with actual smiles and a cheerful "good morning," which instantly put me in a better mood. Service was lightning-fast too; I was in and out in under four minutes. I went with the spinach and cheese pie because it looked the most tempting at that hour. First bite: the crust is the real star here -- unmistakably handmade, flaky on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect golden color and slight buttery taste.
