The bread is delicious. High sugar keeps we away from the desserts. They recently raised prices from $15 to $18 on the eggplant, chicken parm. Honestly, I really think they priced these items way too high. I can go for the early bird dinner at Dominics, Ninos, and other restaurants for the same price and get soup, rolls, and pasta with the meal for the same price. I have been going there for roughly 20 years. While I am a type two diabetic and only eat their 7 cal cookies, I would always bring to those that I was working with at the TSA in Fort Lauderdale. I also bring to the various doctors and dentists that I see. Never once have I ever got anything other than this stuff is actually awesome. They couldn't wait till I came back to see if I brought more. If you have never tried this place I would strongly recommend that you go as you will not be dissatisfied. It's always a pleasure going to Palermo's. I can smell the confections in the air. I needed fresh baked Italian bread to complete our supper. Semolina bread. Wow. So flavorful and fresh. My girlfriend and I were hanging out craving cannoli's as we sometimes do and we got on a discussion on who makes the best. She ended up taking me to the amazing Italian bakery, Palermo's. Palermo's was established in 1961 but it has it roots in the owners grandfather who was a baker in 1920's Sicily. As soon as I walked in I knew I was in a real deal Italian bakery. It feels like the kind you find in New York. The walls are covered with pictures of some of their famous clients like Mother Theresa and Barbara Streisand. They appear on local TV segments are involved with local organizations such as the Italian American Club, Susan G. Komen, the Boca Raton Hotel, the Boynton Beach Woman's Club. My eyes were glued to the cases filled with beautiful Italian desserts including cakes, cookies, bread, and Italian pastries. In other refrigerated cases are enticing soups and take and go meals. The cannoli is their signature item and it was wonderful. I also took a piece of crumb cake which was the best I've had since I lived up north. They offered us a great deal on a whole cake but my scale wouldn't allow me to take it. If I had a function to go to I would definitely come here to pick up a cake or a box of cookies. I hope to make it back to Boynton to get some of the pignoli cookies for the holidays. read more

We make a stop every time we are in town. My father-in-law loves the 1/2 lb eclairs. He divides it eats 1 all week only. We love the Italian cookies, biscotti and all of the pastries. The fruit tarts are delicious. read more

It was my first time going to Palermo's and I was so excited to be able to get my uncle a birthday cake there. The cakes were beautiful and they were not labeled so i had to ask the woman behind the counter which kind of cake each one was. Aside from the fact that she didn't know anything about most of the cakes other than telling me "this one has raspberry in it, it's good." Which was nice of her to say but also unhelpful considering i was asking for a limoncello cake. She said she didn't have one so then i saw one cake and asked if it was a cannoli cake and she said yes. The person in front of me in line had someone else helping who wrote "happy birthday" on the cake he bought so i asked the woman helping me to write happy birthday on mine and she said that it couldn't be done because the chef was gone. Then i told her the other lady behind the counter just did it for the person in front of me and when i said that she was suddenly able to have happy bday written on my cannoli cake. Okay here's where my real problem is; the cake was absolutely not a cannoli cake. As a recovering alcoholic who has not had a sip of alcohol in years and in a family with other recovering alcoholics, the taste of alcohol is something we don't bring around and this cake was NOT a cannoli cake, it was closer to a rum / amaretto soaked sponge cake with cream in between the layers... that has triggered my recovering family members immensely tonight and had we known that there was even a hint of alcohol in this cake (i know the use of alcohol in cooking tends to not have any mind altering effects however the flavor alone is not something you would give to someone in recovery with an alcohol allergy.) Seriously disappointed and embarrassed for having brought this cake to my sober family members. And as a sober person, even though it was an accident i just am beside myself. This is my favorite bakery is boynton beach, south florida, and florida! Being from California, I'd say it's probably better than many if not ALL of the bakeries I've been to out there. Danishes that are chewy, dense, creamy, and delicious-they feel like they're melting in your mouth. The tony soprano (which I learned was like a cannoli but a donut moonlights as the shell) was UNREAL! I had never in my adult life experienced a pastry this heavenly. The ambience is so curious. There are these subtle attributes that helps one know they are in an italian bakery like frozen ravioli in the freezer on the left when entering or homemade italian sauces in the refrigerator by the counter. Also, the service was so helpful! Everyone behind the counter pretty much helped me at a moment's notice and were super knowledgeable about their food. This is a nice Italian bakery with tons of choices of cakes, pastries, cookies and more. I stopped by Palermo's to order a banana cream pie and was taken away by all the other desserts they have. The pie was delicious and not too sweet which all my guests loved. I also ordered a variety of cookies and small cake slices to try and my favorite was the Italian cookie with a fruit jam covered with chocolate and sprinkles. This used to be a delicious Italian bakery that we've been patronizing for about 5 years. Recently it seems the prices have gone dramatically higher for the same pastries. The lobster claws are $8 each and all the other pastry items have increased. While the crust/shell of the items is tasty the fillings are all quite bland, lacking in flavor. It seems all of the pastries are filled with the same flavorless custard, whipped cream and some sort of pastry filling. Ricotta filling is no longer an option. While everything looks appealing, the flavor and texture of the fillings are terrible. Cannolis are one of my favourite pastries, but I had to throw them out. Mushy and filling was bad. For these exorbitant prices they are charging, they should be using genuine ingredients. Hopefully they read reviews and improve their quality, but for now this bakery is a definite no! Also there was a long hair on the outside bottom of the box, workers might want to wear hairnets. read more
