To my…read moresurprise, when we opened my fob so we could copy the Emergency key, the key was missing altogether. So they couldn't cut a new key until I obtained a code from a Mazda dealer. I asked if they would cut a second key for my existing fob and they said yes, but I would have to purchase a blank Emergency key. The first locksmith I called didn't have them, but referred me to Dup-a-Key. I purchased a blank from them and returned to the company at Costco. When they cut the key using the dealers code, it didn't work. They told me I probably have the wrong code. But he admitted they have a lot of problems cutting Mazda keys. So he gave me a fresh blank one and I left. I contacted the dealer again and my code was correct. So I returned to Dup-a-Key, where they cut emergency keys with no issues, using the same code. They only charged $20 to cut both keys. It pays to use a real locksmith shop!

The buttons had fallen out, it was cracked, and it was long overdue for retirement. The dealership would have charged me an arm and a leg and probably my whole salary but Busy Bees saved me big time!
