Light weight, popping color, electric, no noise, easy to drive, easy to lease one, and on top, you have a GPS phone with speakers that will keep you telling about interesting points when you check in. Follow the rout of the colour your package is. Otherwise you will be lost in the city and will have to go around all the pin points :S And after some hours you will be very tired. So stick to the plan :) Sun is super strong on your arms and neck so be sure to wear sunblock! Usually traffic is very patient with scooters but coming back was something because big streets are used by people on a hurry hahaha. I mean one car was honking at us as if the cycle was going to be faster. Just kept our cool and let him go through. We were on vacation mood after all ;) My only concern was that I forgot to take pics of us in the scooter!! So take them before ;) haha and taking pics during the ride wasn't an option for me because you have to follow rules as if you were driving a car (just not go on freeways). So stopping for photos was just stressing. We decided to keep going as the clock was ticking and we had to get back the scooters.

I have been very happy with the scooter. Yesterday it died abruptly, so I brought the scooter over to Mobility City to see what the problem was. First thing Peter did was to check the battery and yes, it was kaput. We were both a little surprised that it had not lasted longer; expected life, he said, is four to five years. I hopped on, grabbed a seat, and we first cruised around the north side of the bay for about an hour. I thought there was a lot more going on over there compared to the south side. We docked for a bit before heading out on the southbound leg. The tour guide was great, and I learned so many fun facts about San Diego along the way. We also got to see Navy SEAL boats, Coast Guard boats, military planes, and helicopters! Also saw some sea lions and many birds. Such a fun way to see the bay and learn a little more about the city.

James, gave a brief description on how to operate the Segway and asked for a volunteer...luckily a brave teenager stepped up to the plate and within a minute he was riding around on his own. I felt the fear slowly subside as one by one the others in the group stepped on their Segways and were riding around. It was my turn to step on...I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest as the adrenaline was pumping through my system. James was very reassuring and said he wouldn't let go until I was ready. To my surprise, it was very stable, super easy to maneuver and within minutes the entire group (including myself) were pros and we were on our way. The tour was great, lots of information and yes a healthy dose of lame jokes (reminds me of the jungle cruise at Disneyland...I wouldn't change a thing). I'm definitely booking the La Jolla tour next. Totally worth trying and you might even conquer a fear you didn't realize you had.

I found We Love Tourists on Yelp and am so glad I chose to do the Segway tour with them! We had a blast! It was a lot more fun than we expected. We knew we'd look like dorks with helmets on and doing a tour, but really, it was a ton of fun trying to go as fast as we could on the Segways, learning about the city, and even interacting with passersby. We took the San Diego City Loop tour which covers about 12 miles in 2 hours. The tour starts downtown and we made our way up to Balboa Park through Little Italy to the Harbor and back into downtown. After about an hour, we took a break, which was much needed. Even though we're just standing on a Segway the whole time, they are constantly in motion, so you have to make sure that your weight is centered if you don't want to move forward or backward. Our feet hurt the most after the tour, so make sure to wear very comfy shoes with support (tennis shoes). It didn't take long to get used to being on a Segway; after our tour as we were walking to the car, we commented on how much it sucks to walk now compared to being on a Segway! Our tour guide, Bridgette, was awesome. She was very friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and easy going. Bridgette did a great job in teaching us and we all caught on to how to operate the Segway very quickly. She gave us some tips and even encouraged us to go as fast as we wanted (where it was safe). We did stop at some spots and she gave us info on the buildings and the city. Being a native San Diegan, I actually learned some new things! Since we were focused on team building, I think it was just the right amount of information and allowed us to really move and have fun on the Segways. She didn't have any problems with taking photos for us and also gave us some great happy hour spots to go to after our tour. I would definitely recommend taking a tour with Bridgette! Booking the tour was very easy as well. I sent a text message (as their website suggests) and I got a text response very quickly. We corresponded via text initially, which is what I preferred, so it worked out great for me. I then spoke with Chris, tour booking manager, the week of our tour to confirm everything and received an email confirmation with the details. I got an awesome deal for our tour, just check their website for current deals or ask. I think if I ever do a tour of any city, going by Segway is the way to go! I would definitely recommend We Love Tourists for their Segway tours. You'll have a lot of fun!

Why I waited so long, I don't know. It's definitely a steep trek down, and the stairs can be a bit slippery, so hold on. Once you get down, you will see an amazing view of La Jolla Cove. Will was rude, dismissive, and made me feel extremely uncomfortable, as though simply being there was an inconvenience to him. And it wasn't just my interaction with him that bothered me. I personally witnessed a couple come back into the store after climbing up from the cave, obviously hot and sweaty from the climb. Will actually told them, "We understand you're hot after coming up from the cave, but we're trying to air out the room and you're airing it with your sweaty bodies." I couldn't believe someone working in customer service would speak to paying customers that way. On top of that, Will was FaceTiming while working at the register. Between the personal FaceTime call, the rude comments to other guests, and the way he made me feel like an inconvenience, his behavior came across as incredibly unprofessional and unwelcoming. It's a shame because the cave itself is fantastic and such a unique La Jolla experience. The attraction deserves five stars, but the customer service we experienced from Will was honestly terrible. Management really needs to address how guests are being treated.
