Went to this cute little cupcake shop inside of the Crocker galleria mall, which you can find an entrance to on sutter or post street. The sutter entrance is closer to this little shop. The inside of the shop is so cute with a bunch of cupcake decorations. We ordered a Taro Cupcake and a Chocolate Tres leches cupcake. They were both very delicious and I preferred the Taro cupcake. It really tastes like Taro. I thought the chocolate tees leches cake would be a little more moist. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were helped right after. It's been so long to find many good businesses since the last day of the Farmer's Market in Crocker Galleria back in March 2020. I'm dying to see them one last time every Thursday. But alas, we have plenty of Farmer's Market places in many different areas already. Nothing like a broad stroll to see how Crocker Galleria is doing for all this time. At least one of the businesses were running, and La Luna Cupcakes is one that's been going strong. Wow, can't believe I haven't reviewed La Luna Cupcakes before! I've been going here since I started my job in FiDi back in 2018, and am so glad that they are still around. They specialize in their tres leches cupcakes - both regular / vanilla and chocolate variations. They also have "popular" flavors such as plain vanilla, chocolate, birthday cake/funfetti, and so much more. I love checking out their seasonal or special flavors and would get those for my team so we can try different cupcake flavors. Usually our faves are the tres leche ones as they are not too sweet. They are really good most of the time and has a nice level or moisture as well. We can eat multiple in one sitting as the light cream frosting layer doesn't feel as heavy and sugar concentrated as traditional frosting. Only downside is sometimes the tres leche ones may be a bit dry and other times a bit overly moist to a level where the liquid just drips, but it's most super delicious. Most cupcake spots require 48 hours' notice for delivery. I got an order in with 45 hours' notice - I called and they said it was fine. I even added significantly to the order about 28 hours in advance. They delivered on time, everything was packaged nicely. Their prices are reasonable ($35 for a dozen mini donuts, mixed flavors), plus they had both vegan and gluten-free options (must buy a dozen of each if mini cupcakes). They were easy to contact by phone or email. When they delivered, they dropped off with a colleague and texted me the confirmation. The only downside is you cant' choose your flavors in the mixed dozen (I'd requested carrot cake in the form but we didn't get any). read more

These cupcakes are great. Overall, I find specialty cupcakes overly sweet and overwhelmingly frosted, but these fix both problems - their sweetness level is just right, and the frosting is so light that it doesn't overwhelm the cake. (For a local point of comparison, I find SusieCakes delicious but too sugary and too frosting-forward.) Flavors tried: taro, passion fruit, and passion fruit / coconut. I came into La Luna cupcakes hoping for a mini cupcake but sadly all they had were the larger size. Going with the cappuccino flavor, it came in an adorable little container that was perfectly sized for it and one of the nicer to-go boxes I've seen for cupcakes. But the cupcake frosting was a little too sweet for me and I was really hoping I would get some of that strong cappuccino flavor in the actual cake of the cupcake (and not just the frosting) because I don't tend to like the flavor of chocolate cake. The service itself was friendly and prompt and they have quite a bit of seating inside as well as outside as the mall they're currently located in is almost completely empty. Came here to pick-up some cupcakes for a work event and it was so quick and convenient on the way. It's also located right near the Embarcadero BART station and on the California St cable car line--it seems like they used to be (or have another location) nearby in the FiDi north of Market. They're known for their Tres Leches cupcake, but have so many fun, unique, creative flavors, as well as some seasonal ones sometimes! One of my friends ordered a bunch of cupcakes and cake pops from La Luna to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had an assortment of flavors, including tres leches, chocolate tres leches, mocha bailey, vanilla, red velvet, and confetti/funfetti. I ended up having one of the tres leches cupcakes. I liked it a lot, the main body of the cupcake definitely did taste like tres leches, and the frosting was creamy and rich. Great for dairy lovers. The cake pops were also decent. I do wish it was a little more apparent which flavor was which and that they were labeled (just in case there was any variation in the flavors/ingredients and if anyone has allergies/dietary restrictions) since they came with an assortment of different designs, some of which had the small circular sprinkles coating the outside. If you have a sweet tooth and prefer a smaller portion size than a cake slice, the cake pops are a fun option. If you're carrying the cake pops around, be careful that they don't get banged up since the outside shell does get a bit crushed if it hits something. read more

Sadly a few of the cupcakes were pretty dry but the ones that weren't were extremely good. I'm torn, I absolutely loved so many of the cupcakes, but you can't have dry cupcakes ever. Some of the best cupcakes I have had! As someone who loves desserts, and cake especially, I was thrilled to find a cupcake shop so close to my work. I wasn't 100% confident about them going into it (since the shop wasn't too busy when I went), but they tasted above and beyond my expectations! I ordered the pink champagne and tres leches cupcakes, and both were shockingly light, moist, and not too sweet at all. The tres leches especially balanced the moistness of the milk without making the cake itself soggy. Normally, not a cupcake person, I normally wouldn't stop at this Ferry Farmers' Market stand on a Saturday in early July. The colors on display more than piqued my interest in drawing me there. Aside this stand, I saw a La Cocina sign, a likely sign of this business being a part of their program. As I stared at their table and variety of offerings, it wasn't difficult to make a decision since I live in a household of four. I bought one of their four packs and brought it home for the family. Since I didn't get home until lunchtime, no one had an appetite to eat them immediately so this became our dinner dessert. Despite being in the FiDi area, which was particularly hit during the pandemic, they're still around, probably because they offer some of the best cupcakes in the city. Found La Luna today on Yelp after deciding to pick up a cupcake during lunch to give as a mini-present. The reviews appeared great, and the pictures appeared cute, so I decided to give it a try. It appears that lunchtime is a good time to stop by this place, as I was the only person there when I visited. They have an assortment of cupcakes and cake pops to choose from, all of which looked quite yummy. I wound up choosing the Asteroid Cookies & Cream since it was cute and I remembered my date liked chocolate. The pastry chef/cashier manning the front was very friendly and the cupcake comes in a nice container which holds it upright to prevent it tipping over. There is a $5 minimum charge here for credit cards so be prepared to bring cash if you are only buying 1 thing. Me and my date wound up splitting the cupcake, and it was quite delectable!
