There was a short line on Friday at 7pm but it got a lot longer as we were waiting. I love all the unique asian flavors and use of local ingredients! The milk is from a pasture raised farm in Petaluma and the fruit from the seasonal sorbet were from local farms. I got the pluot sorbet and the strawberry yuzu lemon peel sorbet. They were both amazing, very fruity and refreshing!
Love the vibe of this place! Reminds me of NYC where all the people get in line for some great quality ice cream. I love that their flavors are special and different. My favorite has to be the vanilla lilikoi with the tarty passion fruit puree on top. Then my second favorite would be hojicha. These two were solid. I tried the sea salt kaya and it was also veryyy good but a bit salty for my preference. I got Japanese milk coffee which reminds me of instant packet coffee. Good but not amazing imo. Wait was pretty long, around 30-35 min on a Saturday night at 10pm. But still worth it to try!!
YAY asian inspired flavors! Definitely one of my favorite if not my favorite ice cream spot in the bay. My all time favorite is their hojicha. The flavor is so strong and I love the nuttiness to it. I think their matcha is from stonemill matcha! The thai jasmine green tea latte was also surprisingly really good. It was unique, and I liked how I could taste both the thai tea and the jasmine tea, they were both present and strong. I especially liked the jasmine aftertaste that lingered. Super floral! The japanese milk coffee was less bitter/strong compared to typical coffee ice cream, probably hence the milk. I think I would've enjoyed a stronger aroma of coffee flavor more, but it was still yum! The genmaicha is like a green tea with toasted rice, so it had a nutty flavor to it. I really don't think you're going to go wrong with any flavor because they all tasted so amazing to me. Workers are patient, I like how they let you sample the flavors! They usually have a line out the door especially on weekends, but it moves pretty quickly!

My favorite is when they have their melon flavors, and I was so excited to see cantaloupe back this week! It was just as good as I remembered... fresh, creamy, fruity, and not overly sweet. Their flavors are creative without feeling gimmicky, and everything I've tried has been yummy. They let you sample up to 3 flavors, which definitely helps when you're trying to decide between all the seasonal options. There's usually a pretty long line but it moves fast so I've never felt like I was waiting too long. The staff is always friendly, and the whole experience is worth it. If you're into unique, seasonal flavors, Garden Creamery is definitely a place you'll want to keep coming back to.

This place seems to always have a line, but there's absolutely a good reason for it! Located in the Mission, Garden Creamery is a small ice cream shop with lots of Asian inspired and seasonal flavors. The line went pretty fast on a Wednesday evening, but I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend. There's a bit of seating inside to enjoy your ice cream. They let you try three flavors, and I tried two, and both were so good I just decided on the spot. My first sample was the Salty Kaya. WOW. Heaven in my mouth. A burst of coconut and the saltiness that paired so well together. There's a reason this flavor has a permanent spot on the menu and isn't just a seasonal flavor! My second choice was the Funky Miso. I guess I love the sweet and savory combo. Also delicious! But not quite the flavor explosion in my mouth like the Salty Kaya. This one really grew on me after several spoonfuls of it. I really like that the single scoop allows you to get two flavors. How can I decide on just one when they have so many fun flavors?? I love this spot and will absolutely be returning. I'm still thinking about the Salty Kaya weeks later.

So creamy ice cream this the name Garden Creamery. LOL Although there was a line, it went by okay, no rush. Everyone in line was polite with their friends. Plus, I Needed time to narrow down what 2 flavors I wanted. I was happy to be finally in the area and it was open! I haven't been back since the pandemic. They open late in the day and I am not here at those times until my event at the rooftop restaurant was about a block and half away on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I found the line to be wrapped around the store in the corner. Ice cream still tastes creamy and unique flavors are lovely. With two sold out flavors I decided to go with matcha Oreo and classic Vanilla Lilikoi which is Tahitian Vanilla with passion fruit which was the best flavor (most popular one - just look at the tub as most people ordered it. I would normally order the ice cream in a cup to get a better ratio of ice cream. But I decided I hadn't had a cake cone in years, so I went for that cone. It was like going back to my childhood eating ice cream with my parents. Yup this place still lives up to its name as ice cream is creamy and unique bold flavors are the draw as they make their own flavors and use fresh ingredients with 100% grass-fed, organic dairy from local Petaluma family farms. They also make a super creamy line of coconut-based vegan sorbet - sweetened with agave nectar, for a non-dairy alternative. Their tea are from Japan and Asian countries which is why the matcha ice cream tastes good. They also l pasteurize their bases. Then they slow churn each flavor with virtually no incorporation of air which creates the smooth textures and authentic flavors of the regions. Ice cream was yummy in my tummy and it gives me an excuse to hang out more down in this area for great ice creams The Mission has a number of excellent ice cream, all different in their own ways. In the old days they used to have Chimney Cone in 2017 but I never had a chance to try it. I am sure it tasted good, but it must have been labor intensive and they are a small shop. But their main selling point is focusing on the ice cream unique flavors that rotate.
So many of my friends have been recommending this place to me and I was super excited to try it :D DELICIOUSSS My friend and I went here on a weekend afternoon, and the line wasn't long at all (we got really lucky I think). The line moved relatively fast and the service was great! You can't sample too many, but the ones I did sample were amazing already mmhmm! I ended up getting the matcha and jasmine milk tea, both of which I LOVED!! My friend got an interesting combo... PB oreo and thai tea LOL he also ended up liking his a lot. There's parking in neighborhoods! The inside of the shop was really cute and there's quite a few seats inside! :D I will definitely be back. I also heard they have rotating flavors!
I always love a treat! Happy I got to swing by this place again. Been here a few times and it's so good that I couldn't help it. Samples their hojicha and jasmine flavors. Both so good- but I settled on black sesame. It's so creamy and the kids size is perfect! Usually there is a line out the door but also so worth it. Staff is very patient! Not much sitting room but they have a few tables and a restroom!

We were greeted by a friendly person and quickly given the samples we requested. We went with singles. One was the creamsicle and strawberry yuzu sorbet. The other was two scoops of cookies and cream. There was a little seating section inside that looked clean but we took ours out to eat while checking out Porchfest.

We got the Flavor Supreme which was some kind of berries and cream mix and also the Honeycomb Caramel Crunch which was sooo good. Samples are always available and they're generous with them too!
This place always has a line out the door, and now that I've tried it it's for good reason! This is some of the best ice cream I've had, rich unique flavors! I got the salted Kaya with an amazing pandan flavor and the ube in a single scoop. You're allowed up to 3 flavors to sample, and it was so hard to choose because each is excellent. I also noticed they had a ton of vegan options. The line goes by quick so I wouldn't let that deter you. I'm absolutely planning on bringing others here and going again to try more flavors :) there's some limited indoor seating, we enjoyed our scoops inside
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally got my chance. The people I can with told me the line was pretty short that day even though we waited for 15 minutes. They have a lot of unique flavors and really fruit and the ingredients are locally sourced. Although the scoops are pretty small. Cantaloupe (5/5): This was amazing. The cantaloupe tasted like actually cantaloupe. It was fresh and naturally sweet like thefruit. Lychee (5/5): Super refreshing and packed with lychee fruit. This place was really good and I'm excited to try other flavors. read more
My sister and I randomly stumbled upon Garden Creamery while we were walking around San Francisco, and I'm so glad we did. We had never heard of it before, but the shop looked so cute from the outside that we decided to stop in and try it. We got really lucky because there was no line when we arrived, but by the time we left, there were probably around 20 people waiting outside. After trying the ice cream, I can definitely see why it gets busy. They have so many interesting flavors to choose from, and everything we tried was delicious. We got the hojicha, Hokkaido milk coffee, and pandan ube, and honestly, I loved all three. The flavors were unique, creamy, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The hojicha had such a nice roasted tea flavor, the Hokkaido milk coffee was rich and smooth, and the pandan ube was probably one of the most fun flavors we tried during our trip. I loved that there were options here that you don't always see at a typical ice cream shop. This was such a great little accidental find during our 24 hours in San Francisco. I would absolutely come back the next time I'm in the city and try even more flavors. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area! read more

Been coming here for years. Service is always super friendly. Love that you can sample the ice cream. I always get the Japanese Coffee, Salty Kaya, and Ube Pandan. Sampled the fresh cantaloupe this time and it was pretty good, but can't beat my staple flavors. Lines are always long whenever I come, but took about 30 min to get through this time. read more
Amazing ice cream!! So many fun, delicious flavors. Portion sizes and prices are fair. Sugar and cake cones free--love! Open late (11PM) on Saturdays--a dream. Friendly and kind staff. Free surrounding residential curb parking, though very limited. The Salty Kaya and Matcha Gold are delish and make a great, creamy pairing. Also really liked the Banana Pudding & Ube Coco! The lilikoi vanilla is so freaking delicious! It's crazy how you can really taste both the lilikoi and the vanilla. i was expecting one to overpower the other but you can actually taste both flavors infused. loved it so much! the hojicha was also really good~ super strong. i tried my friend's ube and it was really good. i'm usually not a ube girl but it was super creamy and not too overwhelming which i enjoyed. there were so many unique flavors and i will definitely come back to try the others! the store is also super cute with polaroids of dogs that stop by! love it and hopefully i can bring my pup here as well read more
Came by for a post dinner dessert on a Thursday evening and the line was pretty long. I enjoyed my first time here and this time was a good experience as well. They allow samples with a limit of 3. This time around I got the cookies & cream flavor and the biscoff cookie flavor on a sugar cone. I appreciate that the sugar cone and the waffle cone options are both free. The biscoff flavor was amazing! Everyone in my party sampled this flavor and ended up choosing it. I would come back. read more
This place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's a cute, "hole-in-the-wall" spot that proves some of the best things in San Francisco require a bit of a hunt. I am still thinking about the scoops we got. Every single one was a knockout. The Black Sesame & Japanese Black Coffee were deep, earthy, and perfectly bold. While the Ube & Kaya had incredible texture and that authentic, vibrant sweetness that's hard to find done this well. Reminded me of Hawaii in a cup. The vibe & the service were great, friendly and fast despite the popularity. It's definitely a Mission staple where the energy is high; I'm pretty sure I witnessed a couple of tech founders starting their next big venture while waiting in line! Ps. Parking is notoriously difficult in this immediate area, so save yourself the headache and take a rideshare or public transit. It is 100% worth the effort once you get that first taste. Easily some of the best ice cream in the city. I'll be back (repeatedly). read more

The line always looks scary from the outside but it goes by fast and worth the short wait! I love the creamy texture of the ice cream and the flavors they have. They scoop the ice cream in the perfect round size so it's so cute like in a cartoon. Most flavors are staples but they also have seasonal flavors. For a single (2 scoops/ flavors) it's $6.95 and no up charge for a sugar cone. To me that's a deal in San Francisco! Ube is really popular. I tried a seasonal Aunty Kendra's Garden = Tahiti vanilla, salty plum, passion fruit preserve and lemon peel- it was heaven! Inside there are some chairs and tables to enjoy your treat. They have cute overheard lighting and Polaroid pics of dogs strung up. Cute video to decorate and make the creamery feel festive and fun. read more
A friend brought us here last week and even on a cold night, the line was at least 30min long. But it was worth it! They have a long list of Asian inspired flavors all made with fresh ingredients. They even list the sourced farms for the fruits. We tried the vanilla lilikoi, fresh strawberry, salty Kaya and Japanese coffee. All were delicious. I wish I could have had a scoop of each but we just have to go back and try more. read more

I passed by Garden Creamery on my way to dinner and saw a long line down the block. I came by after dinner for a sweet treat and the line was unchanged, 30 min before close. Thankfully the line moved fairly fast, and when I got close to the front, I saw that they allow three samples per person to keep customers moving. The store is larger than it looks with some seating along the sides and back. I opted a small cup of the lychee black tea and auntie Kendra's garden. The lychee black tea was INCREDIBLE, strong, strong tea and fruit flavor, perfectly creamy, and not too sweet. The more memorable of the two, however, was definitely Auntie Kendra. It was a vanilla base with salty plum juice, passion fruit, and preserved lemon peel. The delicate vanilla, the lemon aroma without the sour tang, the floral, exotic passion fruit, and the unexpected punch of salt and earthiness from the plum juice, this is a WHOPPER of a flavor. Every bite allowed me a new appreciation of the layers of flavors in this scoop. While a bit pricy, Garden creamery is on par with the other local ice cream spots in SF and well, the flavors and my enjoyment of them speak for themselves. I will definitely be making more trips out here to try their other flavors! read more
I have been here a few time and love how they change up the flavors. This time around I got the biscuff and macnut road(their version of rocky road). I went on a nice Sunday there was a line but it was moved fast so maybe was in line for 20 minutes. Love coming here and will be back again. read more

Stopped by for dessert around 8:30 on a Saturday, and the line was pretty long, we ended up waiting about 40 minutes. They let us sample up to three flavors before ordering, which was a nice touch. I went with the Funky Miso and Vanilla Lilikoi, and the Vanilla Lilikoi was definitely my favorite. I'd love to come back to try the Matcha Oreo next time! There was also plenty of indoor seating. Overall, I'd definitely return to try more flavors. read more

Lives up to the hype of being the best ice cream place in San Francisco... All the flavors are so rich and taste like you're actually eating the actual thing. You could taste the quality, if that makes sense. Li lo koi tastes like pineapple cake, and matcha gold is comparable to an actual matcha shop. I'm so impressed and would come back for more flavors. A taste sensation is the thought that immediately comes to mind when I think about the delicious flavors that Garden Creamery offers! Their flavor selections are unique, exceptional, and absolutely worth trying! I really like the fact that the flavors are constantly changing. Yes, they keep some "basics ", but generally speaking, this is absolutely a place you can frequent and always find something new to try. They do allow each customer to have a couple of samples while you're trying to decide which awesome flavor you'd like, and that also keeps the ever-growing line moving along. Seating is pretty limited, and parking... Well, it's San Francisco so y'all know what you need to do. Now to the good stuff... We each ordered two scoops, and I will say these pricey little nuggets aren't as large as one might anticipate a scoop of ice cream to be, but they are so packed with quality ingredients and flavor! I have one word: pandan. It's amazingly delicious. In one order we had the salty Kaya- its southeast Asian pandan coconut goodness, with another scoop of the vanilla Lilikoi. This is that flavor that you unexpectedly fall in love with. It's Tahitian vanilla with generous swirls of passionfruit. If you think you don't like passionfruit like I did, this absolutely will change your mind. These two together were just magical. The other order we had the salty Kaya with another scoop of the golden milk. Golden milk is this combination of turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cardamom, and some other flavors that just sends your taste buds to another world. This is absolutely a place that you can frequently and should frequently check out and enjoy their flavors. Added bonus: they offer vegan flavors as well to the rotating menu. Delicious! read more
some of my favorite ice cream flavors in the bay -- always a treat to visit garden creamery. usually a line but they keep the line moving while still allowing 3 samples! really love their asian flavors -- vanilla lilikoi, genmaicha, hojicha, black sesame, etc. all flavors are strong and not too sweet or heavy. prices are a little high for the size of the scoops but that's just how it is nowadays. worth it imo because you can get flavors you can't get elsewhere. read more
Hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. My favorite flavor (and my friend's favorite) was the salty kaya, the salt and the Kaya perfectly mesh together to create an explosion in flavor. Objectively, the next best flavor was the vanilla lilikoi; it immediately hits you with a strong passionfruit flavor followed by a calm and subtle vanilla flavor that is just perfect. The black sesame and ube pandan were also very good, though I would've liked it if the pandan flavor stood out a bit more and if the ube flavor was a bit stronger and more refined. If you want to be adventurous, I think mixing some of the flavors makes the ice creams even better; we mixed the ice creams in each cup towards the end and they were absolutely delicious. What really makes this ice cream so great is its perfect texture, consistency, and balance. Each bite really has a start, middle, and end, which creates a truly enjoyable ice cream eating experience. I sampled some of the other flavors, and among them I thought the lychee black tea and niangao were good and unique tries for next time. The matcha and hojicha were also good, on par with those flavors of ice cream I've had in Tokyo. Service is really fast and the staff is super nice. They let you sample up to 3 flavors if there's a line, but like I mentioned before they let me sample some more flavors when there was no line. Very easily my new favorite ice cream shop in San Francisco! I've been to Garden Creamery twice now and, unbelievably, the second time was even better than the first. If you're looking for unique ice cream flavors, especially Asian-inspired flavors, then look no further! I would take any out-of-town friend here for dessert!! Their menu boasts flavors like black sesame, hojicha, matcha oreo, vanilla lilokoi, and ube pandan, with fun topics like mochi and coconut condensed milk. My friend and I visited around 9:30pm on a Saturday evening and waited roughly 30 minutes in line. This was vastly different from my first visit, which had no wait around 10pm on a Wednesday! Regardless, the wait is worth it, even on a weekend. They let you sample up to 3 flavors, which is fair as they want to try their best to keep the line moving. I ordered a single scoop, which came with two flavors, and chose the calamansi creamsicle and Aunty Kendra's garden, which was like a passionfruit jam and preserved lemon peel with salty plum juice I think? It reminded me of the vanilla lilikoi a bit and was absolutely delicious. I especially loved that the shop workers asked us in what order we wanted the scoops placed in the bowl, I have NEVER been asked that before and this is truly a gamechanger! read more
"Not too sweet" - the best Asian compliment you can ever get :D And 2 of my friends said it!! Super delicious, super quality, unique Asian flavor ice cream :) The ice cream is so yummy, creamy, and clean! Parking is street, and the lines can be 15+ min long, but worth it to try "3 samples", and get some of the best ice cream in the area. The flavors are Asian/Hawaiian-leaning like Vanilla Lilikoi and Hojicha - with many of them varying seasonally. Definitely use your sample privileges to try as much as possible - and at least get the double size because the scoops are on the "Chinese Exercise Balls" size (lol) which means they're not huge. But you definitely get quality over quantity here and for those who aren't big dessert eaters, the portion works out great for them. I ended up getting Ken's Korner x Garden (Tahitian Vanilla with plum juice and passion fruit) and the Saffron Rose (a very floral flavor). Loved them both, but personally preferred the Saffron Rose because it was so light and bright. I got to try a bunch of others from my friends, and honestly all of them were really good (and they were al happy). Are they selling pints currently?
Not as of today (3/16). Haven't seen pints for sale for a month or so
Has the place shut down? My understanding is it has been shut from 19th December 2022, I could be wrong, just wanted to check. They don't pick up their phone, nor are responding to messages
There were damaged parts from the storm and awaiting parts to fix a different machinery. They haven't reopened yet. The best way to get updates is through their IG.
Do you still offer the chimney cakes?
No, they stopped those awhile ago, even before the pandemic
Can I purchase the pints without pre-order online? I wasn't able to buy it online because it was sold out within minutes!
Typically no. This weekend and last weekend, they had extra pints for sale. Sometimes you may need to just go and check for yourself
Are they open during COVID shelter in place? The answer is YES! Starting 4/29/20 for togo flavors! Wed & Fri 3-7pm for preorder pickups and walkins!
Are you open despite COVID-19? Will there be a window to order ice cream but not dine-in?
Unfortunately no, they are closed for now.

No there isn't. Unless it is baked into the price. The healthcare surcharge is levied to customers at the discretion of the business owner, and is not mandated by SF.
When will this place sell pints?
Scooper told me they sell half pints to go, same price as their double scoop ~$7
Any dairy free options?
Lots! They make a bunch with coconut milk so they are great if you have allergies
