    Thai Tea Toasted
    Alex L.

Pretty pricey for the portions, with most choices sitting at $15-20 for a single small dessert. Tried the mango tango bingsu and the thai tea toast. Mango tango bingsu was alright, didn't feel like the flavors were really incorporated into the binsu. It was more like a milk shaved ice with some toppings on the side. Thai tea toast was surprisingly good, with the thai tea ice cream being super flavorful and delicious. The $7pp was quite frustrating, since they ran out of the lava cakes, which we were intending to get, and still wanted us to order more to fill the minimum.

First time trying this place and I was so excited to try this mango sticky rice inspired dessert. The crepe was filled with ice cream and sticky rice. The mango was sweet and ripe and the mango sauce was perfect for drizzling on top and it was the most perfect non sweet dessert. It is very tricky to find parking but it's a great place to come hang out with friends and try a different variety of desserts.

One of my go-to spots to keep in your back pocket for a dessert hangout with friends. It's a cute dessert spot with a cozy vibe and plenty of options on the menu. Usual go-to: Mango Sticky Rice Crepe FOOD: 8/10 Everything I've tried throughout multiple visits is pretty good overall. The presentation is beautiful, and the flavors are solid without being overly sweet. I really appreciate that their portions don't feel too heavy, so it's a nice place if you want dessert but don't want to feel overwhelmed afterward. Some items stand out more than others, but overall it's usually a satisfying experience. SERVICE: 8/10 The staff is always friendly and quick. Ordering is easy, and everything comes out promptly. AMBIANCE: 9/10 The cafe has a cute, modern aesthetic with a cozy feel. It's a nice spot to sit and hang out for a bit, whether you're catching up with friends or just grabbing dessert after dinner.

This is my third time coming here and I'm a fan every time! Hokkaido Mille Crepe Cake is my favorite. It's not too sweet and I love the texture and layers. Kaya Pandan Toast is my second favorite. I'm a fan of the bread and how the ice cream mixes with it. Mango Tango is pretty good. Good mango flavor, a good mango bingsoo. The Black Thai tea crepe has a really good tea flavor. The Thai Tea flavor comes out really well. The Japanese Crepe with condensed milk and Oreo was alright. Definitely a lot more interesting and better desserts. They were sold out of the Hokkaido crepe cake another time. 6:45 PM on a Sunday. Never had that happen before. Got the Thai crepe cake instead, which was the only cake not sold out. I like the Hokkaido more. Overall, the dessert is not too sweet! Service is solid. Nothing too crazy or attentive, just average. When it's crowded, the food does take a bit to come. Can get crowded but overall a cute location to eat in. Food is definitely very shareable and I'd recommend sharing with a few people.

I visited NaYa with my friend and we ordered the kaya toast and mango sticky rice. The mango sticky rice is delicious, and the mango is super sweet and yummy. The sticky rice is also delicious, and the ice cream pairs very well with the coconut cream drizzled throughout the dish. The kaya toast is super unique and delicious! The chunks of bread that come sliced are drizzled in the pandan paste and slowly absorb the ice cream topping the dessert. This place gets pretty busy at night, but was relatively quiet at 5 PM on a Sunday for my friend and me. Overall you can't go wrong with anything you try at NaYa, the hardest part will be deciding what to get and to only get one!

This place has been a consistent go-to dessert spot since the Covid era. In recent times, the service has been so bad. Not a long wait, but staff members are brusque/borderline rude, and I'm not sure I want to keep coming back and supporting even if they do have good Asian desserts. Also, wdym it now costs $25+ for a small mango sticky rice crêpe after tax and tip?! My dessert apparently costs more than my dinner these days. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, the bathroom door did not properly lock. The door handle clearly needs to be fixed or replaced if unfixable.

Golden Toast and Mango Tango really delivered. Definitely on the pricier side for a dessert but wow were they good. The sticky rice on the side was also really delicious as well. Milky/cream ice was evenly distributed in flavor and the thai tea ice cream my partner got was fairly unique - have never tried this before. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Great service and very quiet establishment for group gatherings!

I've been meaning to try Naya for so long (literally years), and I'm so glad I finally did! The cafe is super cute, and the food is delicious. I tried the kaya toasted, and it was really good! I love all the various toppings and how thoughtful they were with the presentation. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the portions are pretty big so they're definitely shareable. Looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu!

We've been to Naya's on Geary several times and liked that location a lot. We decided to try this location as it has better reviews and was closer to where we were. We got the mango tango ~$18 after tax. This place is more modern, with a cleaner and bigger bathroom. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning to this location as the prices are more expensive and the portions are much smaller. Service was quick and our dessert came out shortly after it was ordered. Street parking was pretty easy to find.

Felt like dessert after a day in the city, thought we'd try NaYa in Hayes Valley. Local hangout. Young crowd and good vibes. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs - but what a great surprise. We started our evening with the Mango Tango. That Sticky Rice was the Main Wow! Not to take anything away from the coconut & mango, just that rice. I could have had that on its own. We then ended the night with the Toasted Kaya. Warm Bread with the right crunchiness. Another fun & tasty surprise. All in all - we will probably share just one dish next time - but definitely coming back

The best way to cool off on a warm day! We visited NaYa for dessert after brunch at aMano. It's not a big space & was pretty full but the host/server had a 2 top table available. It was kinda hot & stuffy inside even with the door open because it was a warm day. We were told in advance that orders would take approximately 20-30 minutes to arrive because they were short staffed at the time (additional staff arrived after an hour). My friend had to Thai tea crepe cake & I had the mango tango (because I looooove mangoes). The Thai tea crepe was pretty good, lots of Thai tea flavor, and not too sweet. The Thai tea custard sauce added a bit of sweetness to it. The mango tango was sooo good! I loved the coconut ice cream (it's a shaved from a block of ice cream so it's really fluffy). The fresh mango was served on the side in addition to a small bowl of coconut, sticky rice and additional mango sauce. Service was as efficient as possible. Server was helpful too.

Salted Egg Custard Croffle - really tiny and the salted egg was on the grainy side. Good but expensive

Love that they close at 11:00pm every day! Walked in at 10:40pm on a Thursday. Had 5 minutes to order before kitchen closed, ordered the Salted Egg Custard Croffle and the Kaya Toasted. The Salted Egg Custard Croffle is TINY! It's not even the size of a full half waffle, they don't put enough batter to cook so it's even smaller! The salted egg custard was on the grainy side, it absolutely tasted like the salted egg yolk of a mooncake so the flavor was really there but we didn't enjoy the graininess. The croffle was good, pretty standard and nothing special. Wouldn't get it again because it was way too small for the price point. The Kaya Toasted is essentially milk bread toasted with pandan custard sauce, young coconut, banana, toasted almond, and vanilla ice cream. Replaced banana for strawberry at no extra charge and I wish I replaced the vanilla ice cream for coconut so I'll definitely be doing that next time! This was really good, we were craving the Burnt Butter Kaya Toast from Khao Tiew, hold the wait time, and this absolutely curbed our cravings. The pandan sauce is on the slightly artificial side but still really fragrant and creamy! There's REAL young coconut which added a nice fresh touch and the two generous scoops of vanilla ice cream was a perfect pairing to the soft toasted milk bread. I would definitely come back to get this (but get coconut ice cream)! Service was good and food came out fresh and fast. On the pricier side, but the quality is there. No frills, chill date night dessert spot. I'd come back!

We ordered the Mango Sticky Rice set, which comes with both the bingsoo and the traditimango sticky rice. The bingsoo was excellent--it had a rich, milky flavor with a perfectly smooth texture and no icy chunks. I also loved the sticky rice; it was served nice and warm with a perfect hint of saltiness. Overall, it's a fantastic dessert spot! Just keep in mind that the shop is quite small, so the wait times can be long, and there is a card fee for any orders under $20.

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

We originally went to the location near Union Square, thinking we'd be able to grab pastries and hot chocolate, only to realize it's primarily a retail shop with chocolate bars and merchandise. We ended up making our way to the Valencia Street location, and I'm so glad we did. We learned that it used to be the original factory before they outgrew the space. Production has since moved a few blocks away, and now this location offers classes, a café, and plenty of chocolate treats. While we were there, a chocolate-making class was in session, and it was fun to watch part of it. The instructor even came over to chat with us and answer a few questions, which was such a nice personal touch. We ordered the brownie bite flight along with a hot chocolate, and both were fantastic. The brownie flight was rich, flavorful, and a fun way to sample different chocolates. The hot chocolate came with a tiny cookie that was absolutely delicious. At first, we were a little disappointed because we thought our hot chocolate was supposed to come with a marshmallow and didn't see one. When we mentioned it, the instructor smiled and showed us a toppings station we had completely missed. There were homemade marshmallows, flavored sugar cubes, and other little extras you could add yourself. He even encouraged us to take a few extra marshmallows, and they were some of the best I've ever had. One thing to know before you go is that Dandelion Chocolate focuses on high-quality chocolate that isn't overly sweet. If you're expecting the sugary milk chocolate flavor of a candy bar, this is a different experience. The chocolate has a richer, more complex flavor, and we really enjoyed trying something different. Between the friendly staff, delicious treats, and unique experience, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary--just make sure you head to the café location if you're looking for food and drinks!
