Dr. Fagan and her team are caring, calming and use the most advanced technology with a personal, human touch that makes every experience positive and reassuring instead of an unpleasant chore. I have been coming here since the practice opened and am consistently impressed. Welcoming waiting room with refreshments, spa-like aromatherapy, helpful amenities. The only issue is getting an appointment because they can book up far in advance, but Rosa and the rest will work hard to find an opening for you and communicate by email and text. The phone is always answered quickly and they are never too busy to chat and make you comfortable. I have had my regular dental checkup and cleaning, complete with imaging. My long-time dentist stopped taking my insurance so I started shopping around for a new dentist. La Luxe came up in my search and thankfully they take my insurance. I was able to get a new patient appointment pretty quickly. Roseta welcomed me into the office after I realized I had to be let into the office because the door was locked. Jae then took over and took me through the office and showed me all of the fancy equipment. After Jae took my x-rays, Dr. Fagan came in and talked with me and then cleaned my teeth. I don't think i've ever had a dentist clean my teach. I was taken aback by the cost of the fluoride it is $70. (Which is at least double what I paid at my last dentist.) Since it isn't covered by insurance, that price could cause some people not to get it. I love the little snack area. I'm a sucker for a Perrier, so I guess I'll keep paying $70 for fluoride. I have been waiting months for this appt, which was scheduled for Monday. Today I was at Bowie State University for my daughter's Dean's list celebration when La Luxe called/texted to state they needed my insurance by 4:30 or they'd cancel the appt. Whelp, I didn't make the deadline because I was in MD and had to drive back to VA after the ceremony and celebration. And they canceled my appt....I've managed healthcare facilities my entire career. I understand the need to confirm health care insurance. However, this was an uncommon practice to ask for it today and then cancel my appt. I'm incredibly disappointed. I had an absolutely fantastic experience at La Luxe and I am so happy to have found Dr. Fagan! From the moment I walked in, I knew the environment would be a positive one as Rosita was so warm and kind. I was desperately in need of having a dentist take a look into a crown that was causing much pain and discomfort. I wanted to try a black owned dentistry. I had, had so man bad experiences I was fearful trying a new place that something wouldn't be done correctly, people would talk down or at me, or leave me in more pain than when I got there. I had a horrible experience at this dentist that left me in tears. I came in for a check up, and they told me I couldn't receive services until I paid my balance. I was never notified that I had a balance, and was surprised because I paid over $500 for my last visit. They told me they emailed me a balance twice, and when I checked my email in front of them, I showed them that I received nothing. They were trying to charge me the same amount that I paid at my last visit, clearly trying to rip me off, and when I asked to check with my insurance, the front desk told me I could not. When I asked to postpone my appointment so I could try to sort this out because it is clearly a mistake, they refused and told me I would have to pay an additional $85 no-show fee, even though I was in the office trying to remedy the situation. When I said I couldn't afford to make yet another payment and was pleading with her, the front desk lady showed zero remorse and kept saying they sent me bills that I never received. Only when I looked over her shoulder, I saw they indeed did NOT send it, and I watched her click to send me an invoice right then and there, which I received while standing in the office. She still wouldn't explain why I had to pay again and would not even let me call my insurance company. Clearly this was negligence on their part and they forgot to send me my balance ahead of time, and instead of remedying the situation, they kept threatening to charge me even more. When I was finally fed up and refused to pay, I tried to walk out, and the front desk lady got up and stood between me and the door and wouldn't unlock it to allow me to exit, PHYSICALLY TRAPPING ME in the office and trying to force me to pay. I spent far too long begging her to unlock the door, to which she only unlocked when I was in tears. Never have I ever dealt with such an unprofessional team with zero empathy for their patients. I will never be returning here and I urge others to avoid this place. They're only interested in ripping off their patients and physically trapping them until they get paid. Dr. Fagan and Rosita are excellent. Initial visit was about 90 minutes starting with dental/medical history, full X-rays, comprehensive evaluation with an intra-oral camera and cleaning. Dr. Fagan was thorough and educated me how to improve my oral care. I was asked of any if I am interested in cosmetic services such as Invisalign or whitening. This practice offers, but does not push additional treatments/services which made me feel very comfortable. Another good thing was that cost estimates and copays were discussed in advance to avoid any surprises. On my six month follow up visit, the visit was just as smooth and comfortable. I had a wonderful first visit to La Luxe today. My dental hygienist was one of the sweetest people I've ever met and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. Dr. Fagan was kind, thorough, and took time to address all of my questions. And Rosita was extremely helpful and personable when it came to making a reservation, working with my insurance, and going over my out-of-pocket costs. One of my biggest fears going to any dentist is the fear of being judged or 'scolded' for neglecting my teeth. We all have the best intentions when it comes to our dental health, but sometimes life gets in the way. Upon arrival to the office, measures were taken to mitigate COVID-19 risks.
