First off, walking in the staff was warm and friendly. the restaurant was clean and spacious (after a few minutes it was packed) I was very excited to see a menu (traditional ) from Sinaloa where the owners are from. The menu is kinda big but once you manage to figure it out or ask the friendly staff to help you order. We went on Sunday for breakfas (outstanding) I think it was called El Plato de Mi Tia. Fantastic!!! To wash it down I had the horchata... hands down the best I have ever tasted!!! Monday we went back for lunch ( not as busy) We ordered Tortas, Carne Asada and Pibil. Please see attached photo of biggest cauldron of queso fundido I've ever been served. I wish I could give this place a 5 star rating, but maybe that can change in the future! I came here yesterday for my first time and ordered 4 orders of three tacos. I was told the wait would be 25 min, but it ended up almost being an hour. The manager (I think?) apologized for the wait and told me they were making new meat which is fine, I just wish he had told me that 40 minutes prior so I wasn't awkwardly sitting at the bar shaking from being hangry. I think it may just because it's a smaller, family owned business but I'm not sure! This place is blowing up from some TikToks and such, so keep that in mind for your wait time. On the other hand, the tacos I got were to die for. 10/10 recommend. I'll be going again for sure but maybe this time I'll get a drink to hold me off. read more

About another 15 mins past before she came with our food she gave us a carne en su jugo when I had ordered a pozole she said " I picked up the wrong plate" no worries imistakes happened she came back with my agua de jamaica and no pozole. We saw her take 3 tables ordered before she came back to ask me " what was your food?" I was upset but we were half way done with the birria as my partner didn't mind sharing she came back with a cold plate of pozole probably from sitting there I really don't want to say anything anymore as I knew it would take for ever to get some service. By this point the restaurant is now full and they have people waiting she came and gave us our ticket and said here ya pa que pagen y se vayan, ocupamos la mesa, here so you can pay and leave we need the table, we paid and left. We ate at La Machaca de mi Ama right before the shutdown. I had been waiting for over a year for this new restaurant to open as Lupita's (the previous restaurant) has been one of my favorites. The makeover is beautiful and the food is totally different from Lupita's and very delicious. The liquor license had not been secured yet so I could not taste a margarita. However, the Sinaloa style food was delicious. Tortillas are handmade and so good. I will be going back soon to make sure the 4 star review is still good but in this day and age, they earned a star for opening days before a pandemic. read more

PROS: * Featured cuisine is from a different region of Mexico than most other restaurants in the area * Friendly wait staff. The wait staff is friendly. They can get be busy at times but they are usually well staffed and attentive. * Great food. They have a variety of dishes with which I was not acquainted or they prepare mainstay dishes differently. This is refreshing and it is also a fun reminder that "Mexican" cuisine isn't monolithic. Some dishes that come to mind are the Cafe de Olla (coffee brewed in an earthen pot and lightly spiced), the menudo blanco (a white menudo featuring no chilies), their takes on enchiladas, and also chicharrones and chilaquiles. Try the green sauce chilaquiles with red sauced chicharroness. * Nice interior. This business was renovated just before the pandemic (I believe). It has a nice refreshing and bold look even if the seating appears sparse. I haven't confirmed, but I believe it is because they use the stage and open space for live music and dancing. They have a few screens featuring the ambiance music and also a digital jukebox. CONS: * I really only have one complaint: inconsistent "over medium eggs." That's it. If you're looking for something different, this place is a great option. read more
