    Paella Pork

This spot is a paella and tapas bar restaurant. Enjoyed all the items I ordered. The calamari batter was super light and the calamari itself was well-cooked. The octopus was delicious, it comes with one tentacle cut up. Ordered the all pork paella. Very delicious! I'd love to try the seafood paellas next time. They were able to put a candle on the churros for a bday! The staff was amazing! Thank you to the crew!

Came here with a couple friends last Saturday. We had a reservation for 5:30pm. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived but it definitely became more filled towards the end of our dinner. We ordered a few tapas, one paella, and a dessert. * Patatas Aioli 3.8/5: Potatoes were crispy and slightly seasoned. The aioli was good. Something about this just didn't hit as much as I would have liked. Could be that the potato didn't "potato" enough for me. * Croquetas de Champiñones 4/5: Don't think I've ever had mushroom croquettes before but these were pretty good. I liked the flavor. * Carrilleras 4.8/5: My favorite tapa that we ordered. The beef was super tender and flavorful. It was good with the toast. I just wished they gave more toast. * Paella Tres Cerditos 4/5: In general, pork isn't my favorite. The pork in this was okay for me. Everything else was good. It had a pleasant flavor and a lot of nice and bright colors (except for the pork haha). * Crema Catalana 5/5: Crème brûlée infused with citrus. There was literally a piece of orange in the center. The citrus was subtle and added a refreshing taste to the custard. We were celebrating my birthday so they added a candle, which was nice of them.

Make a reservation if you are coming on a weekend. We were lucky enough that there was bar seating when we arrived (walk ins), and we eat dinner early , yup at that stage of our lives Sangria red: perfectly sweet and great with our meal Highlights: Tocino: that pork belly was so incredibly delicious and melted in my mouth Pulpo: the best octopus I have ever had The rest of the meal also tasty, but had to highlight those The torta was delish but a little too sweet, the dusting of powdered sugar while pretty was not needed imo. The olive oil is a nice touch. All in all a great date night with friendly service. Would come again! Before tax tip: $167

    A great Pulpo combo!

A lovely option for weekend brunch without the crazy lines! They take brunch reservations. Tasty food, friendly service & chill environment gives 5 stars. They've recently expanded the brunch menu so that there's lots of yummy options. Mushroom croquetas were delish and not too cheesy. Brussels and pulpo were delicious! The crab scramble was good, but the fried potatoes were too oily for us to eat. Beware there's lots of cheese & fried in everything. I'll be back to try the benedicts & sweet dishes!

Made reservations thru open table on a Wednesday night. Our party of 4 got seated at the first table by the window. The restaurant was busy and full of energy. I was lucky enough to get parking on the street right in the front. Only street parking available. We ordered the paella when we were seated knowing it would take a while. We had the following items: Patatas Cargadas Croquetas Pollo Tajin Meatballs Shrimp Paella Grilled broccoli rab Stuffed peppers piquillos Sliced Jimon All were excellent. The restaurant was very busy but our servers kept up.

Amazing! That pretty much sums it up. My coworker and I went here to celebrate the successful end to the work week. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by the super sexy Juan. He was great; attentive, knowledgeable, and funny. The list of tapas that we had is rather long and I had to slip out with a menu so I could remember them all! Here we go; two red sangrias, croquetas de cangrejo (Dungeness crab), bruselas (Brussel sprouts), albondigas (iberico & beef with tomato cream), croquetas de pollo (piri piri spicey chicken), vierias (day boat scallops), tocino (pork belly), and to wrap it all up, a Cabernet Sauvignon sorbet and a blood orange sorbet. The place was hopping. A table would stay empty for meer moments before someone else was seated so be sure to make a reservation.

Had dinner with a small group and decided on trying a number of tapas. Recommend making reservations, at least at prime dinner hours. It's an Intimate space so it's cozy and expect to sit close to fellow patrons. Service was attentive and helpful. We had some dietary restrictions in our group so there are options for pescatarians and vegetarians. We ordered a variety of tapas; Fan favorites: *Albondigas - meatballs were really flavorful and satisfying *Piquillos - unique appetizer with chilled peppers filled with goat cheese. The two ingredients pair nicely *Chicken croquettes- crowd pleaser, nice blend of filling and crispy exterior *Table de queso - savory and sweet cheese platter with small bites and range of textures *Churros con Chocolate - can't pass up on this dessert *Patatas Bravas- can't go wrong with fried potato tapas *Fried Calamari- fresh and crispy Nice to try but likely wouldn't order again: *Mushroom croquettes- Inside is soft blended filling and super garlic forward. A bit too strong for me. *Cauliflower tapas - nice vegetarian option *Diosa verde salad - pretty aesthetic and decent salad We filled up on apps and missed out on paella which will be a must try on our next visit. La Marcha offers happy hours for more affordable, but limited items.

My friend and I came for the Berkeley restaurant week $25 lunch menu on a Friday noon. Not very busy, only one server. We ordered 4 tapas and 2 paellas to share. Food took SO LONG to come. Waited 30 minutes for the tapas and 45 minutes for paella. And the portions were SO SMALL. Like one croqueta? One pepper? Really? And the paella came in these tiny steel pans instead of the usual cast iron so the rice wasn't crispy. We ordered the veggie one for variety because it sounded good but don't get it. It was flavorless. Seafood paella was decent but I've had much better. I guess that's why it was $25 though I don't think it was worth even that because of how long we had to wait.

The Jose Andre's tapas bar in Washington DC was my favorite tapas bar, until now. La Marcha has been an Oakland mainstay for over 10 years and is now on my fave list every time I come here. Celebrated my son's birthday and we started w the Abondigas which were almost, but not quite, as good as my mothers' recipe. The Paella was heavenly and chock full of shrimp and other heavenly delights. I can go on and on but this place has to be on your bucket list if you love tapas like I do and happens to be in the East Bay. Check it out!

Went to La Marcha because I heard amazing things about their food. We got the pitcher of sangria to share between 3 1/2 folks though I think 2 of us could have killed the entire pitcher. The sangria was refreshing. We order their octopus plate and paella and few other dishes. Everything had a wonderful taste to it. Nothing overpowering, but unique. The restaurant itself is a bit small, so make a reservation if you can.

What a great dining experience! Food was amazing, everything cooked to perfection and loved the savory flavors. Portions were great for tapas, sharing, and trying many things. The paella looked great although we did not order it ourselves. Quite large and I think you'd probably want to share it between at least 4 people. Cocktails were yummy as well, refreshing on a foot day! Lovely and lively ambiance. Thank you to our waitress and the staff who were great!

Food: 4.5 overall, the food was great. Service: 2 (see below - server needs training) Ambiance: 4 very nice feeling, vibe and the bar staff was solid Overall: 3.5 Price: $600 for a party of 6, pre fix with drinks and 20% tip. Went there for New Year's Eve dinner which was pre fix and prepaid. Our reservation was for 9:30p and we were told upon arrival that we'd have to wait for 30-minutes either at the bar or outside in the rain (yikes) bc as they admitted that they had oversold. Hmmm..... We decided to wait in our car while our friends had drinks at the bar. Not ideal but ok it's NYEve. Upon seating our party of 6, I was told that we had only prepaid for a party of 5 and that they would only serve a party of 5. Talk about a distrustful approach. Juan, the server was indignant when I showed him my reservation on OpenTable and my credit card payment on my credit card app. He said he'd talk to the owner. Not the most welcoming first 15-minutes. Our whole table was like, WTF? Juan returned saying that we were good to go and that he had confused us with the party of 5 seated behind us. The server dampened the celebratory mood by mixing up our reservations. After that the finally served us. Despite that, we kept a positive mood. When paying. Juan did the straight up hover when we paid our drink tab and tip. That's just not worthy of a Michelin plate restaurant. They need to train their staff better. Great place for tapas, drinks, and paella. Don't expect the best service. I'm not sure I'd go back after that service fiasco.

Inside is definitely cozy and you'll be sitting fairly close to the tables next to you. Service was really fast and easy - no complaints at all! The food was all great. Standouts were garlic edamame, 6pc omakase, beef tongue, pork belly, negitoro maki, corn tempura, & sweet potato creme brulee. Edamame was lightly charred and salted well, with generous amount of garlic flavor. Omakase was fresh and tasty, although a tiny bit small so definitely perhaps get your own instead of sharing one order between two. Beef tongue was hands down the best thing. I thought it was a boneless short rib with how tender it was (can break apart with chopsticks). The pork belly was also soft and went well with the spicy miso. Negitoro was fresh and the wasabi was grated very well. Corn tempura was perfectly fried and very crispy while still being soft inside. Lastly, the creme brulee was a great dessert. You do get a hint of the sweet potato. Would love to return to try other dishes!

His response was clear: he told me they would keep the kitchen open for us. Based on that assurance, I continued driving to the restaurant. Then, when I was approximately five minutes away, the same manager called back and informed me that the kitchen was now closed and that they would not be serving us. What frustrates me most is that this entire situation was completely avoidable. If the kitchen was about to close, he should have either told me not to come or given me a firm cutoff time. Instead, he confirmed that I was on my way and assured me they would keep the kitchen open. Had he simply been honest about the actual situation, I could have chosen from countless other restaurants whose kitchens were still open and enjoyed my evening without issue. During our conversation, the manager repeatedly tried to justify what happened by pointing to fine print in the reservation policy and by saying he had attempted to contact me at 8:48 PM. But none of that addressed the actual issue. At 9:00 PM, we spoke directly. I told him I was on my way, and he told me they would keep the kitchen open. That was the representation I relied on. If the kitchen could not remain open, he should have told me that at that moment rather than assuring me everything was fine and then calling back minutes later to cancel. To make matters worse, the manager later claimed that I had told him I was only five minutes away, which is simply not true. I never gave him a five-minute arrival estimate. Yet that inaccurate statement somehow became part of the explanation for why they decided to close the kitchen. I even asked why they couldn't simply take my order over the phone and have the food ready when I arrived. First, I was told that the food would be prepared too quickly and would be cold by the time we got there. When I questioned that explanation, the reasoning changed and I was then told they couldn't count on me to pay. The explanations seemed to change depending on the conversation, which only made the situation more frustrating. Adding to that, the manager repeatedly referred to me as "friend" throughout the conversation while refusing to honor the commitment he had made minutes earlier. Under normal circumstances that wouldn't bother me, but in this situation it came across as dismissive and insincere. I would have preferred accountability and a genuine apology. The proposed solutions were equally disappointing. At one point, the manager assumed I had taken an Uber and offered to reimburse an Uber fare. Besides being an incorrect assumption, it completely missed the point. The issue was never transportation costs. The issue was that we relied on his assurance that the kitchen would remain open, only to have that commitment withdrawn while we were already on the way. My two friends and I had planned on having a nice dinner together. Instead, we spent the evening scrambling to find somewhere else to eat. After being turned away elsewhere because of kitchen closures, we ultimately ended up eating at BJ's around 10:30 PM. I drove up from Los Angeles for the evening, and thanks to how this was handled, I essentially spent six hours on the road only to end up eating at BJ's. Had the manager simply been straightforward with me from the beginning, I could have made different plans and enjoyed dinner at any number of other restaurants still serving food. The only meaningful solution offered was a vague promise of a discount if I came back another time. After having a reservation effectively canceled while I was already en route based on the manager's own assurances, that did not feel like a serious attempt to make things right. Frankly, after this experience, it was difficult to understand why I would ever consider returning. The entire interaction left me questioning why I would ever return to Parche or consider visiting any affiliated restaurants. Mistakes happen, but what separates a good restaurant from a bad experience is how management handles them. In this case, there was no ownership, no accountability, and no acceptable resolution. If you're going to accept reservations and assure guests that the kitchen will remain open, you should honor that commitment. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. What should have been a nice dinner with friends turned into a frustrating and unnecessary ordeal. Instead of enjoying the evening we had planned, we spent it scrambling from restaurant to restaurant looking for somewhere still serving food. In the end, the night was only barely salvaged, and certainly not because of anything Parche did to make the situation right. A simple, honest conversation at 9:00 PM would have avoided the entire problem.

So, of course, I had to grab the ahi tuna bowl. and my oh my, that was delicious!!!!! So many places with tuna, don't serve it with Won Ton chips, but Roses on Adeline got the memo! I love a won ton chip and these were giant and perfect with my fish. The fish came in a lovely sauce. So perfect! Such a great spot! I had a great time chatting it up with Aurora and eating yummy food. I love finding places that are somewhat nearby because it gives me a great excuse to come again.

And what a nice surprise it was to have Roses on Adeline hitting the mark on all 3. We've been to Roses on Adeline twice now, once as a walk in and the second time with reservations. Both times we went for happy hour. Their drinks are creative and yummy. The smash burger here is absolutely delicious. The fries w/ sriracha aioli is also the perfect light bite. But beyond the good food & drinks, the ambiance here is really what brings us back. I love the vibe this place has and am so excited to have this as our new local staple for a date night. But be warned this place fills up quickly - I would recommend making reservations if you can!

It was conveniently located across the street from the venue, and the unassuming outside of the restaurant did not hint at the amount of fun, ambiance, good food, and warm hospitality contained inside. First, there is the name. Not sure if it's some sort of play on words, secret joke, or if it's someone's actual name, but it works, kinda. It's kinda a restaurant, kinda a bar, kinda of a hangout, and kinda fun. The tiny entrance and plain facade reveals a bustling world of delicious food, tasty beverage, and lots of decorative eye candy to keep you looking around the space while you are hanging out with friends, on a date, or just relaxing after a long day. The decorations there are very upbeat, eclectic, fun, and distinctly Japanese pop culture. Posters, banners, flags, lanterns, toys, and trinkets can be found all over the restaurant, and made it fun to keep looking around and discover new novel things to look at. I did feel like I was in an authentic Izakaya somewhere in Shinjuku, Shibuya, or Ebisu in Tokyo. The place had a lot of personality & personal flair in an otherwise, tiny & industrial small warehouse type space. Service was excellent. The host was the cute & personable Mina, who couldn't have been more accommodating, patient, friendly, and engaging. It was very busy, and even though it was our first time there, Mina made us feel welcome into their home and was also very helpful to guide us around their experience. The other staff were less engaging, but still professional, efficient, and polite. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly on all accounts, and they as a team, managed to serve an entire full house of hungry & happy patrons during the entire Saturday night dinner rush. Fun place with a good staff. We opted for Izakaya-type, shared small plates to satisfy our hunger cravings without getting too full and weighed down on big portions of heavy, rich foods. Everything on the long & expansive menu looked great, but we mostly stuck with small appetizers to sample & savor. It was nice that there were plenty of lighter, fresh vegetarian options as neither of us were really in the mood for seafood, fried food, or big heavy entrees. We ordered the Kinda Tofu, Kyuri sliced fresh cucumber salad, and Kinoko butter-grilled mushroom hot platter and washed it down with some green grape Jinro soju. Everything was pretty good! Not overly fried, greasy, salty, or seasoned. Lightly cooked, delicately glazed, with just enough seasoning & oil/sauce to make it taste good, but not end up too complicated or messy. The taste really came through using these minimal cooking & seasoning techniques. The taste of the original vegetables & tofu came through perfectly, and were only complimented by their light hints of adding flavor. Portion sizes were ample for two people, and presentation was appetizing and organized. The bill for 3 apps + 1 bottle of Soju was less than $50, so it was a good value for the fun experience & good food. Wait times during the dinner rush are long, and there isn't really anywhere to sit or stand, so reservations are recommended. You can also enter and go straight to the 10-seat bar if there are openings, but we got a table for two after around a 20-30 minute wait. After that, everything moves pretty quickly, from ordering, getting food & drinks, to wrapping up and getting your check. Perfect system if you're trying to get to a concert, movie, or appointment with a specific start time. I really liked this place, not Kinda, not Sorta, but Definitely, or Absolutely! Kinda Izakaya will always be our destination to eat & hang out next time we come back to Berkeley, it is a true gem of a Japanese Izakaya/light meal fare right in the heart of downtown Berkeley. It's fun, tasty, busy, and friendly. Small & cozy, yet also airy & comfortable.

The menu had various options and eye-catching beverages! My table ordered 3 versions of the Chu-Hi's. Quite pleasant. I liked my Meyer Lemon Hi, it came with half of a lemon which I freshly squeezed and poured into my drink. I thought that was very fun! The quality of each dish was cooked well. My favorites were the crab croquettes, chicken heart, one of the marinated skewers (I can't recall the name of it), gizzards, and the squid ink fried rice. I'm definitely curious to try the bacon-wrapped mochi at a future visit. The only downfall was that the kitchen was extremely backed up during our visit. It took well over what felt like 20-30 minutes from our 1st order to our 2nd Chef's Choice dish. That negatively impacted our experience, but it happens. I'd like to try Ippuku again and hope there will be less of a delay. Our server was nice & attentive, came around a few times to refill our water.

The Saba Bouzushi stood out to me because it reminded of Filipino paksiw but as a roll! The Gindara was buttery and soft and had a yummy smoky flavor. The Nabe was perfect for a rainy evening - hearty, fresh, and so well balanced in flavor (I loved the yuzu kosho the had us add for a citrusy, peppery flavor)

For our drinks, I had the Moonlight Blossom, my aunt had a glass of red wine, and my mom had a cucumber mint spritzer (mocktail as she was the DD). The moonlight blossom tasted similar to cherry limeade. The entrees we had were the mussels, veggie burger, and the chef's market pizza. The mussels themselves were tasty and appreciated that they were able to leave out the chorizo. However, I wish that they brought a spoon and there was more broth. I tried some of my mom's veggie burger and the red color from the beets made it stand out from the usual veggie burger. The fries tasted homemade. I had a slice of the pizza and while I like the ingredients themselves, the combination just didn't do it for me. The crust was good though! We also shared a green goddess salad, which was tasty. The desserts looked amazing but we had no room! Service was friendly and our waitress made good recommendations. Can park on the side streets or the garage. Restaurant was not noisy. Would come back to try other items, especially dessert.
