Was next door at my optometrist appointment & since I was starving I checked out their massive menu, totally awesome selection, & I ordered the breakfast burrito with apple chicken sausage! That was extremely flavorful & don't know what type of herbs they added, but that was amazing & will be back for more! They have crepes also, I'll have to check that out during a late lunch since I don't eat sweets for breakfast. Will also go back for their sandwiches & more. The couple, pretty sure they own it, are so welcoming, kind, sweet, & above all passion about making their food. The ambiance has cute artwork for sale that made me think of some friends who would appreciate it & buy some. My wife and I went for breakfast here based on Yelp reviews. Parking is plentiful and the restaurant is very clean. They have a nice menu with some focus on savory and sweet crepe dishes. The food came out nice and hot. Some people may not the eggs as done as what is in the picture but it is what I like. I liked to weigh quality, quantity, and pricing and Blue Lava meets my opinion of nice portion to quality/taste for a good price. I would recommend this little gem. read more

Stopped by Blue Lava Cafe while charging at a nearby Supercharger and decided to grab breakfast. I ordered the salmon wrap, which was a great portion size and absolutely delicious. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, from the vegetables to the salmon, and the flavors worked really well together. Additionally, the service was amazing. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, and even had the chance to chat with a few of the Thai ladies working there. Between the fresh food, excellent service, and charming atmosphere, Blue Lava Cafe was a fantastic breakfast stop and somewhere I'd happily visit again the next time I'm in Capitola. read more

Stopped here on our way to Monterey Aquarium for Mother's Day 2026. It had a diverse breakfast menu. The yelp ratings are 5/5 , you can get any more perfect than that. In a small area right off the freeway in Capitola close to the mall and next to Burger King. It's a family run cafe. Very tiny place but not too busy this Mother's Day. They have WiFi. The bathroom is with a key and is separately attached on the center outside but very clean. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. It was around $58 total for the four of us. They had burgers and breakfast burritos, crepes. Great friendly service parking not a problem either. I would definitely recommend to people to give it a try it's independent owned. read more

Don't go early in the morning. On a Wednesday morning they say they open at nine got there at 9:15 and they're still making food and it's like 9:55. I didn't order anything complicated, just egg Benedict crepes with crab and they just didn't seem to have the ingredients and waiting for them to set up and prepare food! Still waiting .... Finally got dish but doesn't look like Eggs Benedict. Poached eggs ok but no hollandaise sauce! Advertised picture shows poached eggs inside crepe with hollandaise sauce on top. This was more dried crab crepe with poached eggs on the side with some unknown sauce. The poached eggs were good but I would skip crab crepe. Also had side order of sweet potato fries which was decent. As this is local restaurant, I will try it again but definitely not a recommended restaurant. read more

Went here for brunch based on the overall Yelp status of a 4.8 rating. Honestly, not sure how that came to be. We ordered the grilled salmon Benedict crepe and the basic Benedict crepe. The basic crepe was bland and dry, the sauce was not good and the eggs mediocre. The grilled salmon had a strange taste to it but also fell into the dry and bland overall category. We also ordered a side of bacon, which was 2 very tiny and disappointing strips on a plate with some mixed greens to make it look more substantial. A table nearby had a plate that was made incorrectly and when they told the server, the side eye from her was super obvious as she seemed to resentfully carry the order back to the kitchen. The ambiance is mid, the place is small and in a strip mall so nothing to write home about. The best part of the experience was the cashier who was very friendly and pleasant. Overall, if you are looking for a pleasant brunch experience with exceptional food this is not it. read more

This used to be sweet peas cafe in capitola, but has been upgraded with more comfortable seating, some paint, an expanded menu, and great service. We both had the Crab Crepe Benedict and it was excellent, both the regular version and the gluten free version. Prices are reasonable. This has long been one of our favorite lunch haunts, and we will continue coming all the more with the new upgrade! read more

Delicious breakfast crepe with poached egg and Hollandaise. I substituted the ham for bacon. Yum The side on this dish is a small salad which I wasn't wanting for a late breakfast but was delighted with in the end. It was already dressed with a light dressing. I've enjoyed two burgers, the bacon and jack and a regular smashburger. Outstanding flavor and quality of ingredients are top tier. They upgraded their regular fries which are one of the best I've had in a very long time. Everything is served hot like it should. We had a bacon cheeseburger and a cheeseburger on a brioche bun- and this place makes a delicious burger! It was served with a side of green salad that was super fresh on very pretty white dishes with real silverware. The service is very good, the restaurant exceptionally clean and inviting.
