Went at around 10:50 am on a weekend morning. Door was open and we walked in to pick up some sandwiches. Place was empty, so we asked the owner if they were serving food yet. Owner said not until 11 am. We asked if we could look at the menus until then. He said "I guess my boundaries don't mean anything to you." That was enough for us to leave. We re-affirmed that we only wanted to look at the menus. Owner said "There's a menu on the window." Needless to say, we did not eat here. Both were good, but we were not necessarily impressed. The staff were very friendly, the shop is super cute with plenty of seating and parking available. The grinder is a quintessential sub piled with meats on a fresh roll. But the pastrami's the best I've ever had, they must smoke it themselves and it should be the gold standard for all pastrami. Made to order. Made with love. I found myself enjoying the food more because I know I was supporting my neighbor. Portion sizes are pretty large so don't worry about leaving hungry. Only negative I would say is that some of the non-traditional sandwiches can be a bit of a miss. we love Local! it's our favorite sandwich shop and just one of our favorite places to eat in general in the area. We frequent the spot at least a few times a month, get the same order every time (meatball sub and chicken ban mih) and they're delicious. we love that it's family owned and operated, the owner is a really nice guy and I believe works almost every single day as the sole cook and cashier. He also has local artists and creators display and sell their work through the shop which supports the community as well. BFF and I popped by today and it was not busy - 1 customer ahead of us. Marcus was making their sandwiches but greeted us upon entering and answered our questions. When I couldn't decide between the cold and hot Italian, he recommended the hot. I'm so glad he did because it was perfect! We ended up with that and the Reuben. Also had the macaroni salad and "Mom's Potato Salad." Not sure whose mom made it but it was perfect! I had seen this place on yelp the last time that I worked in the area. We had the time and hunger today to make it a point to stop by. Located in a small shopping center, there is tons of parking. It's in the corner near the liquor store and busy ice cream parlor. The inside is simple and old school. They even have a neo geo arcade system, major cool nostalgic points for that! I was torn between the brisket and tri tip but the gentleman told me that the tri tip wasn't ready so brisket it was. Pretty good and fresh. The bread was really good and sandwich came out in decent time. I went to the liquor store for a soda and chips. They have beverages in this establishment but single cans and juices. Inside the store is a lot of local art and products to buy like honey or jam. It seems like a staple in the community where a lot of regulars come. The service was really good too for there only being one guy running the show. Very friendly and full of good energy with banter. I left here feeling better that I got good food and service while supporting a small business. If im in the area again for work, I'll be sure to try something else on the menu. Local is the new name of the former Grinderz deli. It's an amazing local deli that serves freshly made sandwiches and meals. Marcus the owner and Maya the manager are both super friendly and invested in their customers and the local community. My husband loves the Schnitzel and I love the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The Crispy Chicken sandwich has the perfect alignment of spice with the crunch of the breaded chicken and the perfect compliment of the soft bread that it's served on. It is 10/10 my favorite sandwich ever! The Schnitzel is fresh, perfectly breaded and tastes just like the schnitzel that we have got in Germany! First of all let me say that the owner and wife and son are just super people. Next the food is to die for. I took a friend yesterday because she kept hearing me rave about the huge cheeseburger. I had the Philly Cheese Steak. The salads are very good, I loved the red potato salad. The place is super clean. My son knows all the good places to go and took me here some months ago. Best part, I can walk here from my apartment when my car is in the shop and I am craving hoagie. It had plenty of meat and a not to wet. They have kept a lot of the items from the german deli that was here previously which is nice. There is a check in offer on Yelp for 20% off purchase. Very nice. Quaint little shop in the corner of this very busy shopping center. I recommend parking in the back and walking through past the laundry to avoid the chaos of the place. The Jack in the Box on the corner always has a line for the drive through making it even more congested in the parking lot. And currently part of the lot is under construction.
