La Mexicana is located next to Ortiz Flea Market, Fort Myers. I've bookmarked La Mexicana for over two years and wanted to check out their Mexican food. First, La Mexicana is a combination of grocery, deli, bakery and taqueria. There are many inside and outside tables available. You can share your table with someone, and it is communal. I love their Coke. The taste comes down to one thing; Mexican Coke is made with cane sugar while the American Coke is made with corn syrup! There are prepared hot food, tacos and tortas but since we got here around 3:00 PM so we were prepared to pick up some desserts and concha. We picked up Flan and Gelatina De Mosaico. The Flan and Gelatin were served in a cup. They were delightful. Not too sweet and very refreshing! Wife sampled the Flan then licked her spoon and said, "Very Good!" We picked four Concha or Mexican Sweet Bread for breakfast. They are huge and will go well with my coffee in the morning. As I walked down the small produce isle, the Ataulfo or Honey Mango looks so inviting, we picked up several to prepare our Mango Lassi! The price is very reasonable. Tacos like Pollo, Pastor, Asada, Barbacoa are available for $2.00, Quesadillas for $5.00 and Tortas for $8.00. Obviously, this is not Whole Foods Market but catered to working Latino or Mexican community. This the first of many visits! Definitely will be back for hot prepared food, tacos and tortas!

When Mr.Roberto greeted us it truly felt like he was welcoming us into his home. We were seated and I ordered a lime house margarita and the jalapeño queso to start. The margarita blew me out of the water. It was so delicious I had to stop myself from getting another one (maybe on the weekend hehehe) the queso came out warm and Cheesey just how you want it! They give chips and salsa to start. Three types in a bottle and a pico type in a container. This is wonderful for me because I am a little baby when it comes to spice so I enjoyed the flavorful mild (green) while my boyfriend was a fan of the dark red really spicy one! For our mains we both got tacos he got the carne asada soft shell taco combo which came with three and I got the taco supreme which came with 2 mine were hard shell with a layer of cheese and then a soft shell. I really appreciate how they use shredded cheese on the tacos I got- it was very authentic and reminded me of actual Mexican food from Mexico and not this east coast Mexican food I can't seem to get away from in FL! We finished off the night with the flaun which was creamy and the perfect way to end this feast. We had to go boxes when we left and a beautiful heartfelt conversation with Mr.Roberto. He was full of pride, kindness, and personality. He made sure to visit every table and the atmosphere made me never want to do a to go order because then you'd be missing out of all the immaculate vibes. I can't wait to go back!

I went with a selection of tacos - asada, chorizo and pollo. The chorizo was my favorite. They make their own salsa in three levels of spice. My favorite was the mild. It was creamy and flavorful. I also had an hankering for dessert so I tried the flan. It was probably better than the meal itself! It wasn't too sweet but it was rich and delicious - don't miss it if you're coming here.

The decor is under whelming nut while we eat with our eyes first, my taste buds and stomach rule the day, and they were well pleased. They do not appear to be getting the attention that their food deserves, so the smaller space is not a problem....YET.

Always on the look out for the local Mexican restaurant that we haven't tried. Tres Amigos was on…read morethe list and didn't disappoint. Tucked in the shopping plaza at Winkler / Gladiolus in Ft Myers, this cute and cozy spot has easy access to and from the beach and close to Health Park hospital. There are booths and a few tables for seating and to-go orders were available and certainly popular on our visit. The decor was festive and soft Mexican music played in the background. Bottled Mexican sodas, can sodas and beer are available. We chose sodas and chips and salsa to start as we scanned the menu. Please note, this is not like going to a typical American Mexican restaurant were chips and salsa come complimentary; you'll pay for a basket of fresh, hot, crispy tortilla chips and a 3 types of fresh salsa : green, spicy red and a creamy green. All were exceptional and fresh. Hubby ordered combo fajitas; beef and chicken. It came with a generous side of beans, rice and tortillas. I ordered the chicken flautas which also came with a side of beans and rice. Fajitas; meats were juicy and vegetables were cooked perfect. The flour tortillas were homemade and perfect taco size. Chicken flautas were crispy with a nice helping of shredded lettuce and cream sauce atop. We both enjoyed the refried beans and rice. Although my only complaint would be a bit more seasoning as I did use salt. Service was friendly, swift and efficient. The restaurant was tidy and clean. Definitely an easy laid back vibe. Can't wait for our next visit; I eyed the chicken nachos and they looked divine!

not a bad experience at all!…read more fun vibes inside, kind staff, quick and attentive service. food was a blend of classic Texmex and some unique items. i got the nachos with chicken and added some pepper and onions. i prefer them more built up rather than a flat layer, and I wish they had put the guacamole and sour cream on top instead of serving on the side, but the flavor was good. all they had was pink lemonade (which I wish they had alerted me about before bringing it to me bc i don't really care for pink lemonade), but now i know for next time.

Great Mexican Food, Fun Decor We have been to the Cape Coral…read morelocation a few times and thought we'd give this Fort Myers location a visit. Glad we did. If they had any outside seating, we didn't see it. No matter as it was too warm to have enjoyed sitting outside anyway. We were seated promptly in a very colorful dining room. The jungle theme of the ceiling, the colorful lights and décor all make for a fun setting. Our drink orders were taken right away with complimentary chips and salsas delivered quickly. The chips are thin house fried tortillas, cut in half, lightly salted and still warm. A plate of 4 different salsas/dips accompanied the chips. The menu explained what each one was. Fountain soda was $3.95 and tap beer was $7.50 for a 22 ounce Modelo Negra. The menu has everything you could want at a Mexican eatery. My wife had the Juan's Combo Dinner -3 ($22.00). She selected a Steak Taco, a Chicken Enchilada and a Beef Tamale. The steak on the taco had a great seasoning with nice tender steak chunks instead of the usual diced meat. She ordered the Mexican toppings which had cilantro and onions. The alternative is American style with lettuce and cheese. The enchilada was ordered with a white cheese sauce (choose from 4 or 6 different sauces). It tasted great, lots of chicken and cheese. She ordered a red sauce on her tamale and that too was excellent. Her side dish of Beans and Rice was pretty standard. I had some dental work done recently so I need to eat softer food. I ordered the Pozole soup ($13.00) which is shredded pork and hominy based in what they called a spicy broth. I didn't find the broth to be spicy at all so I added some of the sauces they bring to the table to zip it up. (Nice carrier of 6 or 8 sauces with a few real zippy ones.) The soup is served with traditional cold items that can be added to the soup to taste. I added them all - slivered radishes, diced onion, sliced avocado, lettuce and lime. Outstanding soup! I loved it. I brought home enough to have for lunch the next day. So now let's make the night out even better. Not sure if it's every Wednesday, but this particular night was 30% off the entire bill if you paid in cash. Done deal. Cash money = big savings! Go there, eat well, maybe save some bucks.
