We came here as a party of 7 for Mother's Day brunch! We sat outside and even on a 91 degree day, it wasn't too terribly hot. They were packed and they were doing their best to get people in and out! It would be legit if they added big ceiling fans to the outside seating area for days like this to keep the air circulating. We got a variety of dishes: the chicken fried pork tenderloin, eggs Benedict, chicken & waffles, the kids pancakes, the kids breakfast sandwich, and fried okra to share! Everything was fresh, hot, and fantastic. The only thing I don't recommend is the kids breakfast sandwich. It is just eggs on white bread! My favorite was the chicken & waffles. My kids ate half of it, it was that good! Our service was amazing from both the hostess and our server. I definitely recommend and would come back in a heartbeat. Had just checked into hotel and got to the restaurant around 1pm. Had not eaten anything yet and was surprised that they still offered both breakfast and lunch. Menu was super clean! Love that! Decided on lunch. The order: grilled fish sandwich with extra lettuce; a side of Mac and cheese (how can you not get Mac and cheese at a diner? It is what diners are to be judged on!!); and a piece of banana cream pie Probably one of the best grilled fish sandwiches I've ever had. It had the lettuce, some coleslaw to keep it interesting and a piece of fresh grilled fish. The Mac and cheese was death row meal worthy! Loved the banana cream pie too! As much as I thought the food was pretty good, one experience can ruin the whole impression of the place. I love eggs Benedict and they have a great one. I have been here around 7 times and each time the server was pretty quick but the food can be inconsistent at best. The hollandaise sometimes comes out cold. One time I even found a large piece of shell and almost swallowed it. I told the server and showed her, she took it, replaced it and no sorry or anything. It wasn't even that busy. Although, I've had some good experiences, it's unlikely I'll visit again. I'm not saying your visit won't be great but if you want consistent service and quality, go elsewhere. And wow, my taste buds are now holding a grudge against my judgment. Wife went full brunch queen with the French toast (spoiler: it was heavenly), and I got the chicken and waffles because I enjoy pretending I'm making healthy choices. Let's talk jalapeño syrup: sounds like a dare, tastes like divine intervention. Not spicy--just enough pepper to let you know your mouth isn't dead inside. Went to the ArtFest and stumbled upon EllaMae's. We so rarely go anywhere without looking at Yelp but we were starving and took our chances. After finishing lunch we looked at Yelp and wasn't surprised to see 4.3!! Our waitress Cindi was very helpful and shared the story of Ella Mae with us. So interesting. The BLT was very tasty and the French fries were first rate. My Avocado Toast was the best I have ever had. Served on sourdough bread with a generous serving of avocado, 2 eggs, radishes, spinach and a little Italian dressing. So delish. Highly recommend Ella Mae's! Really enjoyed r breakfast here! I kind of tried to steer toward a coffee shop instead b/c I really didn't want to eat at a retro diner attached to the Luminary. Retro diners aren't my thing and hotel associated breakfasts aren't often that good. Well, I was wrong. We had a great experience at Ella Maes. It's typical breakfast food served by what seems to be a bunch of moms. It was a nice morning so we sat on the patio, but there's plenty of indoor seating for a hot day. Service was quick, friendly and r server (can't recall her name, but she was great!) was always there with a refill. We felt like we got quite a bit of food for the price. Oh - they have a generous amount of gluten-free options as well, including pancakes. Thank u! Ordered the Southern Peach French Toast and gluten-free chocolate chip pancakes. The french toast was good - definitely sweet so if you're trying to reduce sugars, this one is not for you. The GF pancakes were outstanding! Think they're made using rice flour. 2 really large pancakes for like $10! The chocolate chips r put on top (not baked inside) so it gets a bit messy. Next time I'll get plain, blueberry or banana. And I will definitely return for some more gf pancakes. Oh - their orange juice & iced tea r perfect as well! The only recommendation for Ella Maes is to offer true maple syrup, even if you have to charge extra, as the syrup they have is the fake stuff. Stopped for breakfast after Mass and had a wonderful experience. I had heard the Avocado Toast was excellent so I ordered it. If you want your eggs that come with it on the side be sure to tell your waiter. These were the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. The Avocado Toast was unique topped with mashed avocado, spinach, tomato, pickled onions, radishes and the scrambled eggs which I would have preferred on the side. My husband had the Southern Bowl and said the cheese grits and sausage gravy were the best he's ever had. All menu items are available to order all day. My first visit to Ella Mae's. It was 9AM on Sunday morning, they were moderately busy. I was seated promptly by the host. She was not too welcoming. The server (Jada) was very kind with a warm smile and promptly took my drink order. She returned as soon as she saw me set the menu down to take my order. Super cute diner atmosphere when you come in and really clean. The decor is a fun modern twist. Large menu with lots of fresh and homemade southern offerings. We ordered the corned beef hash and the avocado toast staying true to our favorite breakfast foods. The avocado toast was one piece, but HUGE! Definitely a good choice. I added on some sausage links that were also extremely hearty. The corned beef hash was proper fresh large pieces of corned beef (not the canned stuff!) and was also a very generous portion.
