I stopped here for lunch on a Saturday, and the place was not busy. My first thought when I walked in, was that they decorated beautifully for Christmas, but the place looked like a generic American restaurant, and not a Mexican one. For what they had to work with though, the place did look lovely with all of the decorations! The hostess was warm and welcoming, and after she seated us in a booth, our server, Andre, came up to us and asked if we would like a beverage. Andre was highly attentive during our stay, yet also gave us the time and respect to make menu choices and eat our appetizer before we ordered our meal. Andre made the guacamole tableside, asking if we were OK with all of the ingredients, which we were happy to include. I love that the guacamole was fresh and plentiful. The chips were light and fresh! (Andre was always great in asking if we'd like more chips, drink, etc.) I ordered off their plant-based menu which is all vegan! I had a hard time deciding, but finally chose their Impossible bowl. It was delicious! I wish I lived in the area and could come back and try another dish, but sadly my vacation is almost over. The restaurant has a welcoming ambiance and the staff is very friendly. Then there's the menu. They try to take traditional favorites and put their spin on it. Not my thing.. Five different types of Queso none of them a basic Asadero . And the Chile Relleno is not a Poblano pepper coated in egg and stuffed with cheese. Mexican dinner on a weeknight! We sat at a booth and the lighting was good, not bright just the right dim-ness. Service was attentive. We started with chips, salsa and guac! The guac is made in-front of you and it was delicious! I ordered the birria quesadilla and it was so good! The meat had a hint of cinnamon which made it somewhat sweet?, but it worked! I was so disappointed with the food. We ordered fajitas which I have ordered at so many other restaurants. I have never had such a skimpy order and the shrimp had tails on them. I have never seen that. That was horrible and the chicken strips were dry. Most people can share this dish. Not here. We all will never go back. When I told friends of mine, one said they ordered for a business luncheon and it was horrible. I know this place has been around for a long time and I was a customer. We've been here now about 4 times but in the past it was for events ( such as birthday parties & work related meetings). I had better experience than with both food & service. 2 days ago, went for a date night out & sadly a bit disappointed. The salsa & chips served at first were fresh & tasty. Salmon with chimichurri sauce was dry, rice also dry & without much flavor. I've enjoyed their Carne Asada in the past. My passionfruit coconut cocktail was overly sweet also. I placed an order at 3:28 for pickup at 5:45. I got to the restaurant at 5:45 they said it would be another 5 minutes, no problem. 20 minutes later I still didn't have my order. I went to the front desk numerous times during that time, each time I was told 5 minutes but they never went back and checked if the order was ready. I got frustrated and they FINALLY went back and checked and wouldn't you know it was ready. When I got it home (5 minutes away) the food was cold. So apparently the order was ready for some time, but the front desk personnel couldn't be bothered to go get it. Their food is great but the front desk needs more training or management. We've been there several times over the years and I'm sad to say the last three or three times in the last year or experience is really not been a good one. First of all the people at the front counter are hardly acknowledge you when you walk in the door the waiter was nice. I will be grateful for that. But the food all taste all taste the same. I have never been here, but it was recommended by a couple of associates. Carlos was my waiter and he was phenomenal. The food was great. The rice was absolutely delicious. Typically you get rice that's overcooked or hard and crusty. This rice was cooked to perfection the black beans or delicious. The only complaint I had there was not enough of them, I had the flan for dessert. It was spectacular. One thing they reminded me of this is not a Mexican restaurant. It is a Tex-Mex so the chips and salsa is somewhat different. They have a warm salsa. That is absolutely delicious. The chips are fresh, crispy with the perfect amount of salt. The waiter was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was okay. The Queso Laredo cheese dip was the best thing we had even though it was very greasy. I got the ahi tuna tacos and was very disappointed as you can see there was barley anything in them. I also got the Pollo Chipotle off the lunch menu and it is more like a salad. This establishment has been my family's go to place for birthdays, first communion, graduations , etc. for many years . Reservations for more than 10 people can't be done on Open table so I called . I was looking to make a reservation on a Saturday for a group with 2 birthdays and a graduation. First I was told my party had to be no less than 12 people. Then I was told they won't make reservations 5-8 on a Saturday? Isn't this what reservations are for ? So a large party cannot support your business during busy hours. It was very disappointing . The food was good. The service was OK (I think they were trying to train new people.) But what annoyed me most on my last two visits was that we go at off times to have a quiet meal and talk. Despite having a pretty empty place on off times, both times the hostesses group everyone together in one small area, with every table full around you. Even though there are dozens of tables empty to space people out It's always a pet peeve when a hostess sits a couple that may want to visit, packed in one small section of a restaurant. There might be a benefit to the restaurant, but it annoys most customers to see an almost empty restaurant and be seated with kids in front of a behind you, and a large loud group right across. when we are feeling by calving some good urban Mexican food this is one of the places we like to go to. This is a step above your normal tacos and burritos. this upscale restaurant has a great seating area in the bar area and space for regular nice restaurant eating. I always will recommend this place. The service is good. The food is good. I got the vegetarian relleno last night. I have to say that it was not my favorite, but it still was good. We were a little disappointed with our visit here. After reading the 5 star ratings on Yelp we were expecting a great experience. So we had to try their fresh tableside guacamole that got such great reviews, but we were unimpressed. It was too salty and there was something missing - maybe more cilantro? I don't know, but it was flat and just average at best. The entrees were good. The fajita steak tacos and the steak fajitas had an abundance of tender and juicy steak strips that had a very good taste. But there' should have been more peppers with the fajitas as they were almost non existent. The accompanying beans and rice were disappointing too as the beans were too salty and the rice was dry and actually had a cinnamon taste - not sure if that was by design, but we didn't care for it. Our server was very polite, prompt, and came by multiple times to check on us. He deserves high marks for his energy and enthusiasm. With the highs of great service and good main dishes and the lows of poor accompanying side dishes and disappointing average guacamole, overall, I can't go higher than 3 stars for this visit. read more

been coming here for five years, the last four times have been soo bad but today is my final straw of not coming back. i got a gift card for christmas that was the only reason i came today with my husband. the prices have gone up, the quality WAY down, and the portions are in the ground. this is how much meat i had on my 3 tacos today. i don't think this is even a tablespoon. the black beans that came with it had about a pound of salt in them so i didn't eat them. i talked to the waitstaff on it & all i got was a 3$ off my bill. my husbands enchiladas were the same, very little meat and basically all veggie. no refills in our meal either. he also gave himself a nice 9$ tip. definitely will not come back! read more

Friends had told us what a great restaurant it is so we were excited to try it. The first disappointment was in the salsa. They give you one tiny little ramekin of salsa that the entire table has to share. If you want more, you have to pay several dollars for each small serving. It's not that it was expensive, it's just seems unnecessary when no other Mexican restaurant that i know of does that. We ordered chicken fajitas and they were not good. The chicken was completely unseasoned, there was only one piece of bell pepper, and the pile of onions were not caramelized at all, they were almost raw.
