Bada-Bing Cherry walks into the room and every other flavor quietly gathers its belongings and starts looking for employment elsewhere. Joe's Ice is an Anaheim staple, and there's something deeply comforting about knowing that some things in this world remain consistently good. The ice is good. The flavors are good. The service is good. The workers are always helpful. Customer service? Great! You ask a question, someone answers it. You need help, someone helps you. You order something and--brace yourself--you receive the thing you ordered. What a time to be alive. *A brief poetic side note about the crowds: Sometimes crowds are massive. --If ya' know, ya' know. What looks insurmountable has a funny way of becoming "next in line." It's almost as if the people working there have done this before. So now we must address Yelp. Yelp, my beloved digital overlord, has recently asked me to provide photographs of my experience. Photographs. Of my ice. Yelp, I respectfully ask: What exactly would you like me to photograph? The Bada-Bing Cherry? It's icy.... it has cherries It's delicious. There are already approximately 47,000 photographs on the internet of frozen desserts, and I refuse to become the Ansel Adams of shaved ice. I did not go to Joe's Ice to conduct a documentary. I went to consume. I am a consumer. A consumer consumes. I am not required to arrive with a cinematography crew, a ring light, a drone, three camera angles, a director yelling "CUT!" and a production assistant saying, "We need more cherry from the left." Sometimes I would simply like to eat the thing. Yelp, I have given you something far more valuable than a photograph: --WORDS-- Words that you can read. Words that tell you I love Joe's Ice. Words that tell you Bada-Bing Cherry is the winner. Words that tell you the service is consistently good. Words that tell you this is an Anaheim staple. Words that tell you the lines can occasionally resemble a small-scale migration, but they move quickly. What more do you require from me? A notarized affidavit? Aerial footage? A sworn deposition from the ice? At some point, dear reader, you must simply put down the phone, leave the house, and go to Joe's Ice. Show up. Put the time in. Consume the ice. Live your life.
