Whole staff needs to be replaced, they have lines out the door on a daily basis just to take forever to do orders, what about the people who just want to buy single items or hot Cheetos in cheese, takes literally a minute or two to pull off, there should be no way in heck that clearing a line of 15 people takes over an hour, it's ridiculous. Super unprofessional. Signs say 10 pm closing time on sundays, obviously this is a sign that today wasn't a good day. "Monica" tried to say they were closed, and yet all the doors were unlocked. We walked in and all the workers went straight to the back as if we hadn't. She tried taking out all the garbage bags after removing us from the store with well over ten minutes left. Understandable had it been 10 pm already, but we showed up during business hours with intention of spending good money. Back in my hometown for a quick trip and had to stop at one of my favorite places for one of my favorite foods - homemade ice cream. Normally I go to the location on Mannheim Road which is nearer to the airport but when I stopped there the selection this time looked like they melted and got hard again as if something had been wrong with there freezer. Then the one in Mt. Prospect had ice crystals on it like they had freezer issues as well. So I opted for this one instead even tho it was a little out of my way. It was on point! It looks newer and bigger than the other two locations. A disappointing worked out for the better. A few different selections as well which was a bonus. I get to try something new. I had to have my all time favorite classic Rum Raisin. This time I paired it with a newbie which was Ferrero Rocher mixed with Nutella. They also have it without the Nutella which I like at the Mannheim location, ice cream tastes like the candy with candy pieces in it. This one was vanilla based ice cream with pieces of the candy in it. The flavor was a bit bland for me. I'm not a big fan of Nutella but mixed with Ferrero Rocher was a pretty tasty combo and paired well with my Rum Raisin. I always get my ice cream in there waffle cone as it very tasty and with a nice crunch to it. Customer Service was good. He was patient in telling me some of the flavors I didn't recognize and giving samples. Price was reasonable. A great visit and I'll surely return when I'm in town again. We were craving desserts this evening and ended up here. La Michoacana is very lively and vibrant inside with a variety of treats to select from. Fresh fruit is used for popsicles and drinks. Several different non traditional ice cream flavors are offered amongst many other snacks. Kids would love it here because almost everything here is a sweet treat made with sugar. Most of products are listed in Spanish so be prepared to ask for a translation if you don't speak Spanish. I had two scoops of ice cream on a waffle cone. The price was reasonable as well as the quality of the ice cream. The ice cream was on the light and airy side and I would have preferred for it to be a little more dense. I've tried soooo many flavors! The Nutella is delicious. The Ferraro Roche is fantastic. The tequila is interesting, not my absolute fav tho. The coconut is creamy & cool. So many, I can't even remember them all right now. And they pretty much have a popsicle to match each ice cream flavor. Speaking of...they have a daily special that will save you a few bucks. Yummy authentic Mexican ice cream and snacks. It was definitely popping on Friday night. While the wait times are a bit on the long side, the staff is courteous and helpful in explaining the different options available. Fruit and ice cream options are ample and look super fresh. Great place, and I'm not sure why it took us so long to try, except for the novelty of it and all of the American ice cream competition.   On a pleasant summer evening, they were quite popular, duh.  We pass by here regularly and don't ever see much going on in the daytime, but yowsa there were non-stop customers lined up on this evening anyway. They have 53 flavors, many exotic looking, and the value here is quite good.  There's no website, so no studying of the flavors beforehand except via reading some Yelp reviews.  Also, the pricing was slightly cryptic as their e-board menu pricing is in Spanish, and there are no other posted cone prices.  Anyway, wife and I both got their 1.5 scoop waffle cone that the lady said would be about $4.  Wife got mango atop coconut scoops.  I got pecan atop Mexican chocolate.  It turned out the 1.5 scoop waffle cone was only $3.10 pre-tax, nice!  Both were delectable, with mine being maybe on the sweeter side than your typical American ice cream, and with a fresh waffle cone t'was a great deal.  We shall definitely return to try some other flavors.  There's no seating currently, so everyone took their servings back to their cars.  There is an adequately sized stripmall parking lot here so that's convenient.  A lot of customers tonight were also buying for their relatives and friends as there were many multiple item orders. I knocked back one star due to a culmination of a few little factors.  Though there were 3 attendants, service was on slower side tonight, as some more laborious fruity orders took a little time.  Cone pricing as mentioned was not clear.  There are a lot of flavors and it would be nice to have something out there either on a menu or on a website describing the Mexican flavors.  One doesn't want to ask or sample much when there are 20 people in line behind you. Also, in my tasty pecan scoop, there were some tiny but hard pieces (shell remnants?), so just watch your teeth on those.   Little things, but this place could easily be 5 stars. read more

Loved this location! I love that they actually display the menu compared to other locations I've been to. Everything looked really clean and service was really friendly. I always get their fresas con crema which is sweet and delicious. They definitely don't skimp out on the strawberries. Price is a little hefty as we got the large size for $9 but oh so good and so filling. Everything at the la Michoacanas are so good. I usually go for their elotes or hot Cheetos with nacho cheese. I love Michoaccana in general and that's my go to place when I am craving for ice cream (Paleta is my fav). I've been to many locations in the surrounding area and didn't have any issues except for the service in this place. I'd give 5 star for the food but service, I am not sure why but the lady who helped with our order didn't seem to be pleased with our presence in our store and I have no clue why. She gave cold answers and at the end she left our package somewhere on the counter near by(you'd usually expect it to be handed over once the billing is made) and I had to go get it from distance after paying the bill. Not only does LM serve fresh fruit popsicles in like 100 varieties (slight overexaggeration), but they have creative Mexican ice cream flavors like Mexican chocolate, arroz con leche, and guayabana. Chips and nacho type creations are also on the menu. I noticed a handful of fun candy flavors like colored M&M, Ferrero Rocher, and Snickers too. Each time I come in, I try a different flavor, but I definitely recommend the Mexican chocolate with its warm spices and twist on the traditional choc. What I've tried so far: Elotes: authentic flavor with lots of mayo, lots of liquid butter, and lots of cheese.. It's probably not good to have it too often but it sure brings me joy. Elotes with hot cheetos: absolutely amazing!! Doritos with chicharones: this was not what I expected, I thought chicharones only came deep fried. I love this restaurant as they have the best Ice Cream in town and a great selection. However, they will not see me as a customer for a while! Went in yesterday to buy my favorite ice cream and was refused to be serviced, because I had no face covering. In Illinois there is NO mandate for face covering at the moment and ALL other restaurants are completely open and do not require any face covering. I explained this to the guy, but he was adamant that I could not be served this way, so I had no choice but to leave. I understand that while there was a state-wide mandate earlier they had to have this policy in place, but right now there is no mandate. I guess they don't mind to loose customers...
