I've been a loyal customer to this place since I was in grade school. I can't count how many times I went to the Skokie location with my friends as a kid. I was so sad to hear when the Skokie location closed but im happy this one is still open and thriving! My go-to order is a green tea bubble shake with tapioca. Nothing beats it for me. It's nice to have a Filipino ice cream parlor in the city that offers your traditional Filipino ice cream flavors along with some traditional American Flavors. What are Filipino flavors you ask? Well there is my go to which is the ube. Ube is part of the sweet potato family but it's deep purple in color. It's sweet and somewhat nutty and it is truly making its name out there right now, especially in Chicago. They also have buko pandan - a coconut flavor, and cheese and corn. Yes you read that right - but don't knock it til you try it! The ice cream shop is small and they only have a few small tables and chairs available, so it's not great for large groups. Yum, our first visit here in years and it was a treat. We used to frequent the long ago closed Village Creamery in Skokie years ago but never came here much for whatever reason and despite passing by frequently. I had a halo-halo shaved ice for $10.29. It was a colorful, flavorful, delicious, and satisfying treat. Besides the various content items, I also really particularly enjoyed the shaved ice, which with the frozen milk flavoring, was really more ice cream like than say the regular shaved ice that you might find in a Korean bingsoo treat. At $4.95 per scoop, the prices here are slightly elevated, but there are a lot of nice and exotic Filipino based Asian flavors. There is btw a 3.5% credit card charge here also, so bring cash if you want to save a little bit. This ice cream shop stop also had the same typical and uncanny customer traffic flow I've come to expect. It's totally empty one minute (like when we stepped in), and at any moment a herd will step in, and sure enough it happened again while we were here. It's also a smallish space here, so it doesn't take much of a herd to fill it up. It all makes for fun people watching while enjoying your treat. Ambiance: It's a little worn down. Some updating would help it, because from the street there is zero curb appeal, and when entering it just seemed worn out. We checked out flavors, I liked that they went for different ones than a typical icecream shop with a few regulars. But the prices are all whack. For two scoop cone, it was something like $8.95. But for a two scoop sundae, 1 topping, $8.50? How is that cheaper??? It was more items in it! I think it's a bit overpriced. One kid had a scoop of birthday cake in a waffle bowl. She said it was okay. She gave it 3 stars. The second kid had a chocolate scoop in a plain waffle cone. He gave it 2.5 stars. He said the cone wasn't right. Then it leaked all over his clothes. The third kid had cookies and cream. She ate half and threw it out. I had two scoops of rocky road sundae, I think it was okay. 3 stars. Overall I gave it a 2. I'm actually extremely shook-ith to my core on this one! I had passed by SO many times throughout the years and heard so many good things. I can't quite answer why I hadn't decided to visit up until yesterday (except for the fact that my husband has an extreme sweet tooth and I knew just where to go after dinner!) Service was great. They have an array of different options! From the outside looking in, I assumed it was more Americanized but it's actually Philippino inspired ! Their most popular ice creams are their Ube and/or Ube Oreo, Cookie Monster and their "Halo Halo" concoction that I can't even describe what's on the inside! It's a MUST try. We visited on Sunday around 5 p.m. and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. There was a significant amount of water on the floor, with a very worn and well used "wet floor" sign taped to the front of one of the cases. When we asked to sample the durian flavor, we were told they were out of small spoons. I suggested using a larger spoon, but the staff said that wasn't possible. We went ahead and ordered about $25 worth of ice cream. After just one taste of the durian, we ended up throwing it out it was really unpleasant. The shop doesn't seem to have changed much since it was converted from a Baskin Robbins over 20 years ago, and unfortunately, it's showing its age. The dirty water on the floor only made the overall impression worse. I actually worked there when I was in High School when it was a Baskin Robbins about 30 years ago, and I'm sad to see the decline. Yay to ice cream shops with Asian flavors!! This is a small ice cream shop with about 15 seats inside and a few seats, maybe 4 seats outside - up front. I've been coming here for years and love all the flavors here. My favorites are Ube, matcha, Lychee, sapin sapin and durian. The also offer prepacked pints which I mostly saw were Ube and mango. The staff is friendly and patient. Not much interaction since the whole process quick - order your ice cream, get it and eat it lol This place stays consistently busy especially during the summer. This spot has been open for awhile and it's great to see them doing so well. read more

Really delicious ice cream and sorbet. They also do milkshakes and banana splits but they take longer to make and you'll need to wait a while. The ice cream flavors have a lot of Filipino flavors which is very unique, like ube oreo and halo halo. My favorites were the red bean, the ube oreo, the mango, the coconut, and the pomelo flavors. Their milk based ice cream is thick and creamy. Their ice creams are definitely a bit pricey. I wish you could try two flavors with the single scoop, but unfortunately you can only try one and the scoop is massive. Two scoops is almost a pint of ice cream. Their parking lot is a bit difficult to navigate, especially if it's packed. It's at a busy intersection and the inside has a few tables for people to sit. Service was fast and efficient. Got here at 8:30pm... what was super annoying was that the lady put away 1/4th of the ice cream flavors. They should've put away the ice creams at 9pm when they close, so it was upsetting that we could not try the buko pandan or regular ube flavor. My friend also ordered the tiramisu but the guy served her the whiskey flavor instead. She tells him that he put the wrong one but he told my friend he's pretty sure he put the right one. Their halo halo is kinda expensive but pretty dang good. I was bummed that they don't have Buko Pandan available ever even though it's advertised on their menu. I feel like I'd definitely come back to try some other things here like their sundaes or ice cream. You can never go wrong with Ube ice cream. Also, to note, it was extremely warm inside this place. I know there are multiple ice cream machines running to keep the ice cream cold, but man, it felt like it was at least 80 degrees in there. When Jolibee wasn't serving halo halo a few nights prior I was left with a huge craving that was difficult to satisfy. There aren't a ton of spots in the city (or in neighboring burbs) to get halo halo -- especially really good halo halo. While in the area, I did a quick search on Yelp and was overjoyed to see Village Creamery pop up and decided to stop by. They're a family owned spot with an awesome selection of ice cream. Although I was tempted by the Thai coffee, maiz and Oreo ube, I stuck to my guns and went with their halo halo shaved ice (not to be confused with the Sunday or ice cream flavor). At under $9 it was a good price for the portion and quality. Although I usually prefer a bigger variety of beans and jellies, it was the perfect balance of creamy, sweet and light. They gave it to me with a to-go lid on so I could just hop in the car and head out. Although there are tables and chairs, the atmosphere is pretty outdated and not incredibly comfy so I probably wouldn't eat inside. But that would never dissuade me from going because it was delicious! I'd love to try some of their ice cream flavors next time but I loved their halo halo enough that I'll probably always opt for it when I'm in the area. read more

The first time I came here (pre-COVID) there was a long line out the door. The shop itself is pretty small and there were two small tables that fit around ~4 people but not sure if they still exist. Village Creamery has so many unique flavors that you probably wouldn't find in a typical ice cream store. You can also ask them to pack any of their flavors in a to go pint. We love getting the ube ice cream and hubby likes the avocado ice cream as well.
