Great place to visit after dinner or during a very hot day. Take your time to look around as the employees may not know what you like or want. Friendly enough people that work there as well as other locations. I would visit again when I ever get a chance to come back down that direction. Cons: Limited parking space when visiting the store and worth it to park across the street at CVS if you plan to jump and out of the store. Try to stay clean although area in the are not so clean. Pros: Behind the counter seems to a lot space for workers to move around and maybe too much space. Clean behind the counter area as much as I can see. The employees at the least seem to care and let you try some samples of you would like to. Amazing variety of frozen and liquid desserts. Give me a few thumbs up below if you find this helpful. Take a look at my other reviews to see if they give you an idea of what the location or store is like. Hit the thumbs up button on several pictures and reviews that you like. Thanks.

The best Mexican Ice cream shop outside of Mexico! (my opinion) The flavors, spices, textures, and ingredients, make my taste buds pop!

Their Oreo cream is incredible.

Incredible selection of hand mixed ice creams from soursop to mint Oreo. My kids got the most generous scoops of an amazing Range of fresh flavors. Kid friendly, amazing horchata, and wonderfully clean facilities.

Mangonada Extra Large

Was craving a Mangonada and stopped by this place to get one! Really fast service (I was one of the only people there when I ordered). The Mangonada had the right balance of blended mango and chamoy sauce and I added a tamarind straw since it's one of my favorite candies. Pretty affordable for a large size. Many more options on the menu to try on my next visit. Recommend if you're in the Rogers Park area!

This ice cream was so fucking good. It was like the finest angels breast milk just dripping straight off the nipple into the blender combined with the type of whipped cream that just makes you instantly hard. No ice cream will ever please me again and i would never disrespect La Michoacana by going anywhere else. I want to let La Michoacana have its way with me

This place is amazing!!! Treat yourself!!! Prices are great, the staff is friendly and it's perfect for a summer day!

This is a new location of the traditional Mexican ice cream store. The ice cream is definitely amazing, but I took down a few stars. The grand opening was 6/15/19, but it looks like they are understaffed. The location is very popular and it's always a long line with not enough staff. Furthermore, the garbage can is too small and always full. The ice cream isn't labeled, and the establishment is dirty. If they can fix these issues, it would be a 5 star location for sure.

I really appreciated that the truffles were homemade. They were small, but had a ton of flavor. The ice cream was also pretty tasty! Their menu offerings were impressive. Surely, most people can find something to enjoy! The location is truly vintage. I like the antique feel and classic clam shell bowls the ice cream was served in. The shop is small, so be prepared to pack in close. I did notice they have some nice outdoor seating for warmer weather as well. The service was great once we got inside. The staff was helpful and attentive. I also truly appreciate that they tried to help accommodate my senior mother who uses a walker. However, on that note, I would advise caution to people with assistive devices. I understand the location is a landmark and am glad it is there. I would like to see them make accessibility accommodations. There is only one door and it is revolving. We had to try and struggle with my mom's walker to get in. The staff was helpful with the door when we left. I think they would benefit from a bell at the door for people who need help.

It was pricey but enough for 2 people to share. Metered parking on a weekend evening was easy. My only complaint is that it had a strange, unpleasant smell inside (we were there in the evening during the weekend of April 25th). Also, when I came a few years ago, it had a really cozy, welcoming vibe packed with comfy couches. Now, it just looks like basic tables and plastic chairs, lacking comfort, character, and charm. I'm hoping to return to try the sweet potato latte and the other shaved ices, but I hope they do something about the smell and make the space feel more cozy and inviting.

And so it was that we found ourselves inside this location of Ghirardelli during our Chicago trip. I wound up ordering what I always order, the World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae ("Vanilla ice cream and handmade hot fudge topped with whipped cream, diced almonds, a cherry, and a Milk Chocolate Caramel Square"). It was ready within minutes and of course it's terrific. All the components work so well together, and that hot fudge sauce remains one of my favorite things ever. And we certainly are glad we did...it was delicious!! While Ghirardelli Chocolate was founded in San Francisco in 1852, Chicago is fortunate to have a vibrant and welcoming shop where any visitors can indulge in the ultimate chocolate experience whether purchasing chocolate gifts or placing an order at their made in-house restaurant upstairs. They make decadent hot fudge sundaes with handmade hot fudge made fresh daily from Ghirardelli Chocolate along with a sample signature chocolate square. This particular store is open on Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 9 PM. I jumped at ordering a Classic Hot Cocoa, which offers a luxuriously deep chocolate flavor that comes through their beverage while topped with whipped cream and dusted with cocoa powder. It was served with a milk chocolate caramel Ghirardelli square. They also served shakes, coffee drinks, and more along with their huge chocolate Pick & Mix selection (where you choose your own flavors), chocolate gifts, chocolate bars, and chocolate gift bags. Go to their website (https://www.ghirardelli.com) and sign up for their e-mail newsletter to receive 15% off an order while also receiving e-mails with special offers. Another deal is that you can get free standard shipping on orders of $75 or more. I'm already dreaming of my next Ghirardelli made in-house beverage and chocolate square. Yum!!!

It's pretty small inside, there are only a few tables. A server comes to your table to place your order, which I feel like never happens at ice cream shops anymore! The menu is huge! It's a fairly enormous concoction. I found it interesting that the hot fudge was served on the side, but it's actually pretty smart because you get control how much (or how little) sauce you get. The ice cream is the highlight. It's creamy and rich, and it's got a really nice flavor, too. The hot fudge was less impressive, but that might be because I had already eaten a Ghirardelli sundae earlier in the day and their hot fudge just can't be beat. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was kitschy and fun. It's a cool place.

She recommended a Bolognese Danish, a Dubai pistachio brownie, and I added an everything bagel and took it all to go. The Danish was by far my favorite. The pastry was flaky, heavenly, and the filling rich and meaty. This is a pastry worth crossing town for. The brownie was fine, but maybe I'm over the Dubai chocolate trend. It didn't really come together as a unified dessert for me. I wanted the brownie to be richer, fudgier, maybe even a bit sweeter. I would probably get something else next time. The everything bagel was a good texture, but the fennel seeds in the seasoning took me so far away from the classic "everything." They overpowered the other flavors, but the texture was fantastic.
