I've been coming here to get my clothing tailored for several months now. Francois has does an excellent job with everything I've brought him. He's very friendly and has a solid understanding of where men's fashion is at right now. I typically see a lot of younger guys at the shop getting suits slimmed down. Here's a list of alterations that I've had performed: -Taking in the waist of suit jackets/blazers -Tapering/slimming pants -Hemming pants -Darting shirts The prices here are a bit higher than what you'd expect elsewhere, but the quality of the work is great and the turnaround times are good. Quick tip: The more specific you are with what you want, the better. I had some suit pants slimmed and he slimmed the seat and thigh area, but didn't really taper past the knee. I ended up going back to get the pants tapered past the knee and provided him with measurements for the leg opening and they turned out great. The truth is, I could have gone to many other tailors to get my dress pants and blazer tailored and paid less. However, the craftsmanship of the finished garment would not be the same. First off, I am very petite - even Francois agreed with me! Finding a pair of dress pants that fit perfectly is nearly impossible for me. I brought in a pair of dress pants that I bought four years ago, which were ill-fitting so I always wore them with a belt. Francois took inches off the waist and hips, then created a straight-leg streamlined cut. The pants were originally an unflattering flared/bootcut style, but he changed the entire shape of the pants into something more flattering and tailored for my legs! I could not believe how amazing the pants felt on me. I dreamed of a day that I didn't need a belt to hold up my dress pants, and where the pants had enough structure to contour my legs in a flattering way. I'll admit that I only paid $25 for the dress pants, and $50 to tailor it. However, these pants felt and fit like a dream, thus the quality of the tailoring FAR outweighs the cost. For the amount of work I needed done to the pants, the cost is affordable. I also brought in a blazer that needed to be taken in. Fortunately I only needed the sides taken in (fitting in the arms and shoulders were fine), but it still required a bit of work because a lot of fabric had to be taken off and the the blazer was fully lined. I also requested that he redo the shape of the blazer in order to contour my slim waistline. Francois explained to me how much would be taken off and the process of how he takes in the material. After trying on the finished product, I was once again amazed at how he could take a boxy, shapeless blazer and change it into a nicely fitted one! Francois' tailoring is impeccable - I couldn't even tell that my pants or jacket were taken in at all! Originally I only planned on tailoring the jacket, but brought in the pants to see what could be done along with a price quote. He wasn't insistent or pushy in any way, and walked me through with how the clothes should fit. Generally I've been to female tailors in the past, but Francois was a complete gentleman in every way. He also does custom tailoring, which I'm hoping to someday afford so that Francois can make me a whole wardrobe of business wear. If you need custom suiting, La Moda is definitely the place to go! Francois is simply the best and his shop La Moda is second to none. After shopping endlessly for a suit for my wedding, I stopped at La Moda at the recommendation from two separate friends. All other stores had "off-the-rack" suits that were made for the masses and none of them fit correct (even taking into consideration the alterations that could be done). However, once in the door and meeting with Francois, he found a perfect fitting suit just by looking at me. After working with him to find the right style, color, and design, I settled on a great suit. Alterations were done in a timely manner, and even did more alterations after noticing some items after I tried it on a second time (small things I wouldn't have noticed, such as the width of the back collar in relation to my dress shirt). The finished result was incredible, and Francois even stitched my name into the jacket. A truly personalized experience to get a great suit! His work was so great I took two other suits that were years old and had them altered to fit correctly. I also took a bridesmaid dress my wife needed shortened to him; he did a perfect job on the dress, even with the many layers and thin fabric it had. The service is always prompt, high quality and fairly priced. Price-wise La Moda may not be the cheapest you'll find but "cheap" is not what I want my tailoring to reflect. While I've only used La Moda for suit and shirt alterations (sometimes extensive reconstruction) Francois is an expert suit maker. He is very reliable and has your order ready as promised all the time. He is an exceptional tailor and knows what he's doing. I don't think he is over priced at all. Let me just get this out of the way: their tailoring is expensive, and it isn't the speediest of turnarounds. But the proprietor Francois knows his stuff and has been a tailor his entire life. His eye for detail is impeccable and the quality of his work is unmatched. I purchased a suit at Nordstrom and initially took it to a tailor the salesman recommended. I was never happy with the fit and the suit still felt boxy. I then took it to Francois to get his input. Let me start by saying that this review is long overdue. I have been coming to La Moda for the past several years. Francois is master tailor! I have had several pants, shirts and suits tailored by him. I even purchased the suit I wore at my wedding from him! I only come here for clothing that I don't want to be ruined or for pieces that are a bit more complicated than taking it to a $5 dollar hemming place. I had my seven jeans tailored here. The tailor is really nice but that only gets you so far. He hemmed my jeans way too short. I would think he would know that jeans should be tailored longer than slacks. I would have gave him one star but he shortened my long sleeve shirt length perfectly. read more

I was very impressed with La Moda. The tailoring portion is in the back portion of a suit shop, but don't let that throw you off. You can bring your own stuff in for tailoring as well. Francois was very nice and did a great job hemming two pairs of pants for me at a reasonable price ($12/pr). It was a quick turnaround too - 3 working days. I thought it was also helpful to note that he actually recommended not hemming one pair of pants I brought to him because he felt the length was good and would be too short if they were hemmed. I found his honesty refreshing - he's the expert afterall - and he didn't just want to take my money. He wanted to be sure they looked great too. I was very impressed. I had a trip coming up in a week that I needed my suit jacket altered for. It's a nice suit that was passed on to me from my dad and I hadn't worn it very often, and over time it just didn't fit anymore. The shoulders were too narrow and the sleeves too short so it would take a lot of work. I looked on here and overwhelmed by the number of tailors I picked the one next to Men's Wearhouse, (Hanz inside Big and Tall), but he was only available 3 days a week or a limited time. Then I went next door to Men's Wearhouse and they told me there was no way they could have that much work done in time (it would take 10 days). Luckily he gave me Francois's card and I went right over. I went in and met Francois, he was very helpful. He made it simple and quick for me because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, just something that fits right. He told me he could have it done by Tuesday (I came in on Thursday) and if I wanted he could get it dry cleaned and have it ready for me Thursday. Timing and convenience were perfect. I came back to pick it up Thursday afternoon and loved the way it fit. I was shocked to see how much better that suit looked after his work. Now I'm leaving for my trip looking good. read more

I recently moved here from MN. I am VERY picky about my tailor. I needed work done on some suits, jeans, dresses, leather coat (orig. about $800), tops, etc. after losing some weight. Saw all the great reviews. Came in to have a new suit altered. I thought I'd let out the jacket a little, adjust the sleeves, get the pants hemmed and the waist/seat let out. For full disclosure, the suit is a size that would have fit me a few years ago (Italian size 50 jacket with a 50 pant waist versus the 51 jacket with a 52 pant waist I need now) but not after all the beers and BBQ I've enjoyed recently. Anyway, Francois was nowhere to be seen and a woman helped me. She marked the pants I could barely button and said they would be fine, but when I put the jacket on, she said that there's no way to let out the size of an off the rack suit - it's not possible - in her experience you can only make a jacket smaller... I politely questioned it a little, but didn't push it as I didn't want to risk having this tailor do something they're not comfortable with or qualified to do and end up with a destroyed suit and some type of hollow apology. Not that it should matter, but this isn't a cheap suit. In fact, it's at a price point (not that price dictates quality or whether an item can be altered to the next size) for off the rack suits where you might consider getting one custom tailored with a really nice fabric instead. Sorry for being vague, but I'm not into bragging on Yelp. I've had multiple suit jackets (20+) expertly let out/taken in that now fit like a glove in the past by my former tailor that just had to retire. Again, not mad at La Moda, just disappointed that they couldn't do something that a bespoke tailor should be able to do. I was courteous as I left La Moda wishing them well. Just surprised at my experience there. I then went to another tailor known on the interwebz for their high end bespoke suits and shirts, but said they were happy to make alterations to my suit if they could. I tried on the suit, they poked and prodded, they opened up the lining to make sure there was enough cloth to make it fit and they said it would not be a problem and I'll be happy with the results. It's not going to be cheap (I expected this work to be expensive and would have had no issues paying La Moda/Francois the same amount), but the other tailor guarantees the work will come out perfectly. Looks like I found my tailor for my suits, now just have to find one for simple things like jeans, shorts and shirts. read more

Francois worked wonders on several of my older suits that were way out of style but made of high quality fabric on several different occasions over the years. He even converted a couple of my 1990's wool Ralph Lauren Polo suits from pleated to flat front trousers--not an easy task because he had to completely disassemble them into their original panels and reline them to do so. Later, he introduced me to some of his fine Italian suits that he gets directly from Milan, and one of these, a black lightweight Super 120's, is my absolute favorite suit ever! Always gets complements and questions about where I got it. It cost me $800, and was worth every penny because it looks, feels and fits like a $2,5000 custom bespoke suit.
