But here's what really blew me away. Hasib actually picked a dress for me himself, and it fit like a glove. It complimented my shape perfectly and was absolutely stunning. This man has a genuine gift for knowing how to match a dress to a body. On top of that, they do in-house alterations, so everything is handled right there. I had been looking for an elegant, formal, yet modern dress for my milestone wedding anniversary party. I wanted something striking, but not bridal. I had been spending a lot of time looking online and fell in love with dresses by a designer called Ladivine. However, all online retailers were final sale, which just did not work for me. I needed to try a dress on to see how it looked and felt. After looking up local retailers that carry the brand, I called Elegant Designs. I read off several of the model numbers for the dresses that I liked. He let me know if they had them and in which colors, or if he thought they could get them. Anyway, they definitely had one of them, but he was going to look further to see if he could get some of the others. I never got a call back. I called back a few days later to get the same story, and still no call back. Finally, I decided to go there and try on the dress they had. They had it in my size, but in a different color. I really fell in love with that dress, but was still curious about some of the other dresses. Again, he took my number and said he would call with information about the other dresses, but no call. Finally, after I couldn't stop thinking about the dress I had tried on, I asked him to get it in rose gold (color in the photo). He said I could wait and pay when I came to get fitted. That felt better to me, as I was a bit concerned about the lack of follow through. The dress came in my color quickly and he called to let me know it was in. I came to try it on and purchase it. It was $20 cheaper than I was quoted which was nice. I just needed it shortened so I could dance. He did the alterations there in the store, and I picked my dress up a couple days later. All in all, I had a positive experience, bought a dress that I love, and alterations were fast and easy. Once I had decided on my dress, the service was flawless. However, trying to find out about dresses that they didn't have in stock was impossible. I recommend Elegant Designs, but only for the styles they have in the store. read more

Did a google search for dress shops and found Elegant Designs and read the reviews and decided to check it out. What a gem! I ended up purchasing a dress for my daughter's prom dress here and it was the best experience. Not only does the shop have dresses in store to try on, but in addition, Hasib (owner) has numerous dress catalogs you can pick any dress and style from, for any event - and he can have it within a day or two in your size and color of choice. Pricing was very fair. Compared to Prevue and Christina's pricing - Elegant Design is can be 20%-50% less. Hasib was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and knew my daughter's size just by sight. He was correct! He has been a tailor for 30+ years and did an excellent job with our alterations. For high school dances, he is aware of all the dress guidelines, in addition to only selling that particular dress to one girl attending that particular school dance. Customer service was superb, dress quality was so beautiful. Beading was done by hand. My daughter ended up wearing the dress to 2 dances and had strangers coming up all evening to compliment her dress. Hasib was wonderful to work with! I needed my wedding dress tailored to fit better and had to add a bustle since the train is very long. I was able to make an appointment and come by the Balboa location. He has another store location in Solana Beach. The store was recently renovated. Huge space, plenty of parking, and the store is very modern. I came in for a fitting during my lunch break. Hasib was quick and efficient at measuring me. He said that he would need to fix the length first before he can install the bustle. About 1.5 weeks, I came back in to do the bustle fitting. About 1.5 weeks after that, I came in for a final fitting to make sure everything fit well. Hasib is a magician and a true artist! The length was perfect, the straps were fixed great, he took in the sides of the dress so that I had more of a silhouette. He even took the time to film a video on how to hook the bustle so that I can show my bridesmaids on the wedding day. His prices are great and he was communicative during the entire process. I highly recommend Elegant Designs for all of your tailoring needs and to shop for gowns. The display gowns in his shop are gorgeous. I definitely recommend Elegant Design. I first went in to have my mother of the bride dress altered and he went above and beyond helping me to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Then, we had major issues with a different tailor that made my daughter wedding gown to small! He was able to let it out with hardly any room to spare so that it now fits! The man took all my information and told me that he had to order my prom dress in the color I wanted. He told me I could pick up my dress 3 days before my prom and I reluctantly agreed. I called 3 times to see if I could pick it up earlier and each time he told me he would call me back in 5 minutes and let me know. I never received a call until I had my father call and get information out of him. He then said my dress wouldn't be in until over a month after my prom. He never called to let me know and I was forced to get a different color dress than what I wanted but was sold the dress at the original price with no apology. While it was a semi-affordable ($269) I think there are much more professional and better places to buy your prom dresses from. read more

I needed to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed (by a lot) and the minute I put it on, he knew how long it needed to be for it to long but not too long so that I would trip. I was very anxious because I hadn't found a good place to get alterations and the wedding was the following weekend. My dress was a thin chiffon and polyester so any mistake could show, but of course, he knew the material and did it perfectly. I was lucky enough to be able to get it done the same day, and his prices are very reasonable. That being said, please don't assume he will be able to do that for you, I got lucky so please be nice. We found dresses for high school prom for my granddaughter (after we couldn't find anything) and he was able to alter them to fit her perfectly. Made her dream come true!
