This guy picked up the phone immediately, was very friendly and heroism with his information. I love that so I had to let others know.

"Multiple Layers" of Deception and Unprofessionalism…read more.. In my correspondence with Gene K., a representative of Scope Environmental (cut and pasted from Yelp chat room) mentions "We can definitely help. Our asbestos inspection, survey, and lab results pricing is very competitive. It's $625 for the inspection and report. Each sample is $35. No other fees. Generally, results and reports will be available within 24-48 hours". Gene K. also mentioned the following "Some samples have multiple layers, and that can not be determined prior to taking the physical sample. You are welcome to call in so that you can properly comprehend the procedures". However, UNDISCLOSED FEES can creep into the price charged to the customer, e.g. such as the need to test "multiple layers" of one material; so, "No other fees" is (deliberately) misleading and therefore, deceptive. A field inspector (Daisy Flamenco) of Scope Environmental, arrived at the project site and upon seeing the area that needed sampling, asked the homeowner for a ladder to get her modest stature to the sampling material areas. When sampling the ceiling, Ms. Flamenco was barely able to reach the sampling surface (needed to be on her tippy toes), even with a step ladder (provided by the homeowner). ALL sample takers must come fully prepared for all conditions at the work site and not rely on the homeowner to provide tools, equipment or assistance of any kind to do THEIR job! Ms. Flamenco was dressed casually, no respirator or other appropriate protective equipment or gear, which is not only hazardous to herself, but sends the message to the homeowner (overseeing the work), that asbestos is really not that harmful. Even two and a half years following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is appropriate if all workers who enter a home, to wear a mask or at least offer to wear one, but Ms. Flamenco failed to show the occupants of the residence, such consideration. Most (professional) people return to bad pre-pandemic habits, even if to protect the home's occupants from the common cold. What is really inconsiderate and unprofessional, is that Ms. Flamenco had disturbed suspected asbestos containing materials by scraping and cutting away material from parts of a furnace and its ducts, leaving the furnace and ducts out-of-order, i.e. if no asbestos or other harmful materials were found, the furnace and ducts could not be safely and effectively used without first repairing them. Leaving carcinogenic materials exposed (cutting, scraping or otherwise removing and exposing asbestos) to those who live at the work site, is hazardous and unprofessional and should never be done this way. Exposing harmful materials puts people and animals at risk of exposure to carcinogens and asbestosis causing particles! Asbestos sample takers should take measures to seal or otherwise cover, exposed asbestos containing materials (when they are through sampling them), to protect home occupants. This experience was a wake-up call to how incompetent workers can make a bad situation, worse!

We contacted Scope Environmental because they specialize in a wide range of services, including sewage and mold remediation. Veronika was courteous, highly responsive, and scheduled a team to come out the same day. Peter and his crew were professional, efficient, and thorough. They quickly extracted the standing water, debris, and sewage, then applied absorbent materials to the wet areas to remove moisture. They also installed heaters and drying equipment to prevent further damage. I appreciated that they returned over the following days to monitor progress and ensure everything was drying properly. Their support during such a stressful situation made a world of difference. I highly recommend this reliable, family-owned company for anyone needing this kind of emergency cleanup services.

Needless to say, I hear that it's not as accurate. So since I needed absolute accuracy and the reviews were awesome, I chose to go with this company. I am extremely grateful for both of them. They are super patient. They helped me and more way than I can imagine and I look forward to not only using them again, but also referring them. It's nice to know that there are good people out there who are willing to help you and that are doing things the right way Thank you so much.

I am deeply concerned with the testing practices and reporting accuracy of West Coast Environmental…read moreTesting. This firm was hired by my property management company to sample an HVAC system in my residential unit following a chronic maintenance issue. The individual inspector, Mitchell Schonfeld, provided a hand-typed incomplete Word document summary report explicitly claiming there were "no contamination concerns" and "no remediation needed" regarding a surface swab of the AC unit. However, when I requested the actual, official laboratory analysis data sheets from PRO-LAB (Report #1941296) that this company utilized, the physical data pages completely exposed the text in their Word document as a total misrepresentation. The official laboratory results for the exact same AC Condenser sample featured a capitalized, clear conclusion of "UNUSUAL" and documented an astronomical 9,000 spores per square centimeter of Cladosporium mold alongside 1,200 counts of active Fungal Hyphae (active fungal growth roots) Furthermore, while their Word document claimed moisture readings were completely "normal" at 12% or below, the inspector simultaneously contradicts himself in the exact same paragraph by noting visible water damage on the ceiling and water stains on the AC closet floorboard and intake area. Because they failed to perform actual moisture mapping and missed a massive 17%-20% active structural wall leak, they declared the unit normal while overlooking a major infrastructure failure. Additionally, the paperwork completely lacked the mandatory signed Chain of Custody tracking document required for a certified environmental report, and the Word document downplayed an active raw count of 266 spores per cubic meter inside the AC intake air test. To make matters worse, the inspector recommended a non-compliant 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water mixture to wipe down the area, a practice that directly violates EPA residential mold guidelines and OSHA standards because bleach cannot penetrate porous substrates and its water content actively feeds underlying hyphae root structures. Because this firm's Word document downplayed a heavy 9,000 spore colonization and completely missed the active infrastructure leak, I was forced to hire an independent industrial hygiene firm out of pocket to protect my health. This second inspection uncovered the true extent of the damage, documenting an active 17%-20% structural moisture leak and 45,000 raw spore counts inside the air ducts. Avoid this firm if you expect thorough, scientifically accurate reporting. I whole heartedly believe that this company intentionally provided false reporting in special interest of the property management - intending to avoid costly proper repair methods and they are being reported to state licensing boards.

A decent company that does good work with regards to testing. My main gripe is lack of clarity and…read moreresolution of an issue that I had brought up. When I wanted some testing done, the deceptive thing they said was that I can do multiple tests for one price. So I clarified that if I were to test 3 rooms, it'd be the same price as 5 rooms and they said yes. So I literally said to the representative " so whether I test 1 room or 5 rooms, it's one price and she confirmed yes. Lo and behold I get slapped with a charge 5 different rooms. Well I called to clarify, they told me it was one price but per room. I was frustrated because that was my default assumption. It's like going to a restaurant and ordering something and the server says "all pastas are for one price whether you get 1 or 10, it's all one price" and you order 4 pastas for the family and 4 more to go to take home and they slap you with a bill for 8 pastas and tell you it's one price but for each pasta. Well duh! That's everyone's default assumption. You making that qualifying statement serves to confuse the customer. It feels like a deceptive tactic to make it seem like all tests are for one price in order to bait you into more tests. It left a bad taste in my mouth honestly. That being said, the worker was nice and the job was done which why I can average out the score to 3 stars. Would I use them again.... Maybe, but I may shop around a little more.

Everything went well until the "newly" hired rep was unable to properly explain the services provided. I ended up getting an air sample which caused issues for me. Let me explain... The air sample taken measured the size of the material found in the air which would classify it as asbestos. The report findings were no asbestos in the materials on site except a wrapping around a duct we did not disturb. I was puzzled by why the air sample would come in higher than the EPA standards, and classify the particles tested under asbestos. This made me take steps to protect myself and my clients. The company stated there would be an additional $300 charge to determine if the initial air test is in fact asbestos. I asked the rep to ask the owner to work with me and cover half the cost, and it was denied. Even the employee understood my point of view and explained that to avoid these situations they explain more in detail. However, in my case I had an employee who wasn't well versed in this. The lack of compromise and miscommunication express the companies policy when mistakes happen; knowingly or not. Definitely moves me to not being a repeat customer. On a good note, their timely response was impeccable. Though the pricing was higher than other testing companies, I would praise their responsiveness. I hope the owner can reconsider the situation, and work with my client to remedy the miscommunication. Update: I had a great conversation with Sarah, she is the director of client relations and business development. She heard me out and approved my request to cover half the cost of the additional test required to affirm if the air sample taken was indeed asbestos.
