Adorable ice cream spot in the North Harrison plaza! They have rolled ice cream and have a lot of different customization options for toppings and flavors. They have nondairy options of a slushy or crushed ice. I got the cotton candy and it was yummy! I didn't finish it because the syrup ran out about 3/4 of the way through, but it was super sweet! Doesn't make sense to advertise a 9 PM closing time if staff are actually shutting down half an hour earlier. I didn't realize how hard it is to find rolled ice cream in the area post covid but drove nearly 30 minutes to this spot to try them out! My nephew had never had rolled ice cream before, and I wanted him to get the experience. I ended up with a crepe with ice cream on top. Both my nephew and I thought the ice cream was outstanding! The staff was super patient with him while he placed his order, and they were making sure to put on a show while we watched them make our desserts! So I was very intrigued by the Yelp reviews. My first time ((tip if it is your first time, read the menu before you get there). I was a bit confused by the options on the wall, kind woman suggested bananas foster so I went with that. They take liquid and freeze it on circular pans creating a thin sheet which they roll up. So it takes time to create (do not go in a rush!). I got a child size $6 and change--so it is pricy. The ice cream has a full creamy feel on the tongue and the rum ice cream flavor was subtle. The bananas were not as ripe as I like (am Latina). But it is very good. MANY young boys came through--as other posters have said it is good for kids. Rolled ice cream is such a treat and I have enjoyed it when I first tried it in NYC. However I have to say that La Moo was quite the disappointment. I agree with other reviewers that this is a beloved place by locals but I don't think it would do well in other locations. I ordered a "Make Your Own" order which was vanilla with two toppings: pie crust and brownie. These are toppings so I don't know why at La Moo, the style is to smush/mash them into the ice cream itself so instead of tasting the texture or full flavor profile, you taste faint flavors with a crumby texture - reminded me of the powdery crumbs at the bottom cereal bag! Also the service was slow and disorganized. The customers actually had to keep track of who ordered what first, so when the flavor was called out, they knew who it was for. It took 20 minutes to get my simple order made and it tasted like old milk with chunks of ice (wish I listened to other reviewers). Overall I would not return and I suggest anyone else who is in the area to just go to the grocery store next door and get a carton from the frozen section. read more

My friend and I came here for dessert on a Wednesday night. We ordered for pick-up but they were extremely backed up when we arrived. Our order was very late and tons of folks were complaining. We got the Nutella strawberry and Nutella banana crepes with ice cream. Neither was very satisfying and after waiting almost an hour, felt like a huge letdown. We paid for extra toppings and they were all at the bottom of the cup with the crepe tasting more like a bland pancake. La Moo Creamery is a small ice cream shop, located in the Lee Harrison Shopping Center, that offers rolled ice cream and chopped ice. They don't use preservatives, thickeners, or stabilizers, and are all about having ice cream in its rawest form. The hubs and I stopped by here while doing some errands in the area, and we ordered: the Monkey Business (with Nutella, chocolate chips, and a chocolate chip cookie), the Dozer (with Heath Bar crumbles, almond, and caramel), and, the Strawberry Shortcake (with strawberry, short cake, and strawberry Pocky) - honestly, these ice cream in a cup were just okay. The ice cream wasn't as creamy in consistency, and it was more thinner with a good amount of ice crystals. In addition, the staff seemed to have been overwhelmed with the long line, so the cup seemed to have not been filled properly - it just seemed as if the cup that was used was too big for the portion that was served and you weren't getting anything like shown in the pictures and/or what was advertised. The toppings, such as the Heath Bar and the Pocky seemed to not have been kept in an airtight container, as they were a little stale. I do like that that some of their signature flavors are offered in either ice cream or in milkshake form, so it's nice to have that option available. The place seems to be a hot spot for the locals, especially during the summer months, and you can usually see a line woven around inside - it can get a little overwhelming because there isn't a distinction of who's standing in line to order and who's waiting around for their orders. I'm glad I was able to check this place out, but wouldn't return. We inserted our credit card into a little trader and tbere was hand sanitizer everywhere The actual ice cream and la moo creations were fabulous. I love chcolate and peanut butter so We had to get the reeses creation but we also ordered the Ube with coconut flakes and condensed milk. WOW just wow. Oh man did this make my day! We stopped over here after dinner a couple doors down at Pie-Tanza. I got the mint ting a ling subbing chocolate drizzle for the caramel. My mom got whatever the Oreo one was and added caramel. Both were delicious. Sometimes ice cream gets crystallized and doesn't taste right but this was good, but I wish it was a little richer/creamier! Was fun to watch them make it and roll it, and I like how everything can be kind of customized. I wish the Oreo chunks in ours had been bigger - it was more like crumbs and I prefer it to be chunks. The mint was perfect for my post-pizza heartburn. Light and delicate... perfect if that's what you want in your ice cream. I didn't know what to expect when I walked in. However I had been past this place before and seen lines going out the door, so I was expecting a lot. They make your ice cream while you wait by pouring flavored liquid onto a cold plate and moving around for a few minutes until it solidifies. Then they scrape it off, forming spiral cylinders, stand them up in a cup, and add the toppings you requested. The result has a flavor, texture, and intensity somewhere between typical "craft" ice cream and sorbet. While I appreciated the effort, care, and skill that went into making it, I prefer something more like standard ice cream. However, it is worth at least one visit to see for yourself, and it wouldn't be surprising if you wanted to go back for more. read more

I will say it tastes nothing like Thai tea. It has more of a funfetti/birthday cake feel. The s-moores one was definitely the most photogenic. It was pretty tasty, but not my favorite. Fun spot for that latest crazy of ice cream blended and rolled into cylinders! Good service, the cashier helped explain the menu to several folks and the blenders were skilled and quick. I got one of the combo recommendations for coconut with brown sugar and waffle bits, delicious! She started out by preparing a cup of the ingredients to blend and getting a liquid cup of the coconut ice cream base. Poured the liquid into a cold round surface and started blending in the toppings, chopping and scrapping, then smoothing it out. She flattened it into a large rectangle and the. Scrapped it into rolls, picked up with tongs and placed in the cup, topped with whip cream, coconut flakes, and the waffle bits. Delicious! The plastic spoons provided were all temperature reactive and turned blue or other colors as they touched the ice cream or your mouth, fun! Good place for a treat, fun method of assembly and many varieties of fresh made ice cream. A bit pricey, was about $7.50 per person with the whipped cream topping for a regular single cup.
