Stopped in in the morning to grab a doughnut and Boba tea. The mango mousse cake has a strawberry roll center to it and it is possibly one of the best mousse cakes I've ever had. Absolutely a must pick up here! The cake-by-slices are a wonderful way of enjoying the deliciousness they have when you aren't able to buy a whole cake and eat it too! The grand Mariner chocolate ganache was extremely rich and if you're a chocolate lover this wi hit home at all the sweet spots! While I love chocolate cakes, this mango mousse raspberry cake was a winner. They are located so easily accessible to the Hilton (same building) I really wish the liquor license hadn't expired because they had a decent collection of beers and wine there. I was in the area and felt adventurous, so I decided to get some bubble tea from here. It threw me off a bit when no one was manning the central counter. It wasn't until I went to the counter by the inside entrance where there were employees that I realized they belonged to the same place. Honestly, I would recommend that they take bubble tea off of their menu. It was probably added since it is a growing trend among the DMV area, but it is not their strong suit and does not tie in well with the other products they sell. The bubble tea was powdered and some of the bubbles were hard. In addition, it is served in a Frappuccino cup - the small is equivalent to a grande at Starbucks. You have to stir the bubble tea really well upon receipt since it comes to you warm with ice on the top. If they had the equipment and stereotypical bubble tea cups then they could at least address that issue. When compared to bubble tea chains (Kung Fu Tea, Gong Cha, etc.) and the bubble tea at local Asian establishments between Annandale and Centreville, this bubble tea was on the lower end of the spectrum. However, I can safely say that it was not the worst bubble tea I have had in my life. That honor belongs to a different establishment where I could not even bring myself to finish the cup. Would I come here again for the bubble tea though? Nope! I would rather try the Kung Fu Tea near Clarendon Metro or go to Starbucks which also happens to be located in the same building. read more

This is a weird little place that could be so much better. Pro: the baked goods (the only things I've bought here) are pretty good. Con: There's no website, the Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2018, no printed menu, no descriptions, no labels, no posted prices, your only way to get a cake or tart is to come in person, point and ask "what's that?" Sure limits their business. Service is mixed; I've had both friendly and surly. It can be hard to get the staff's attention. Apparently they do okay with the hotel guests and the occasional office worker and students from nearby Washington-Liberty high school. If I actually need a cake or tart for a special occasion I go to Heidelberg or Randolph, further away but more professionally managed. read more

But it's sad; we'd certainly pay a dollar more for something that has chocolate, cream, and fruit in it With this location they could sell millions a year, if only they sold real stuff like Mirabella's in Tewksbury Mass. Tivoli's has been a long standing staple in my family for birthday cakes. Most notably for their white chocolate cake. Having only ever had their cakes, I can't speak for their other pastries nor for their deli. If you need a cake, this is an excellent place to grab one (whole or by slice.) Their white chocolate cake is undoubtedly very good however, I think their fruit topped cakes and their Grand Marnier cake are SO much better. I was on "Mission: Pick-up Dad's Birthday Cake" today and couldn't help but grab a slice of their Grand Marnier cake for myself right then and there. It is the most perfect, creamy, and moist chocolate cake you will ever have. EVER! The type of chocolate cake that would be great if accompanied with a nice, tall, glass of...milk! Oh my gosh, delicious! Please try it! Cake orders have never been ruined and are always ready on time. Both Tivoli locations are right next to a metro stop (this one by Ballston, the other next to Rosslyn) which is pretty convienient if you don't feel like driving and hunting for parking. My experience with the breakfast choices were gross...keep finding hair...yuck. BUT during late afternoons for some reason...I don't have any problems. Maybe it's a switch of cooks. The BLT sandwich is my go to. You can choose your choice of bread and how you want it made. The chicken salad sandwich is also good with rye bread. Everything is less than $10. This place is fast and fresh, as well as delicious. I'm probably here 3x a week for breakfast and coffee. They have a simple menu, but it's enough. Bagels, bagel sandwiches, breakfast burritos, omelets, and breakfast potatoes--all very very basic but it does the job. For lunch, there's a larger selection, with a ton of hot and cold sandwiches to choose from. Once I got a sandwich for lunch and I expressed concern that it would be soggy, and they wrapped the bread, lettuce and tomato, and chicken salad with apple slices ALL SEPARATELY. I was beyond impressed and even touched. My lunch was perfect that day. When you walk in, there's the bakery section and then further back is the deli and coffee. They also have snacks you can buy like kettlecorn or chips or nuts, and apples and bananas. Literally they just have everything and my only regret is that I didn't discover this place sooner! The drink was clearly made from powder (halfway through, it became a chalky taste) and the boba was overdone--it was all mush. It's actually a pretty fine pastry shop with a big selection of cakes, tarts and savory pastries. They also sell a wide selection of wine and prosciutto etc. BUT they do have bubble tea. And their pearls are-- not great. They actually microwave the pearls to order, probably because they don't get enough orders to make a batch in advance. Consequently the pearls end up tough and hard to chew. But I keep ordering their bubble tea believing that all they need are faithful customers and their pearls will improve in the end.
