This is one of the sweet tamales with pineapples in it.

I live in Utah now and grew up buying my masa in a different shop but they weren't doing masa until Christmas Eve and that didn't work for us because we drive back before that day. I looked on Yelp and picked this spot. Bought masa preparada for tamales. Made a batch for my mother in law today and the tamales came out absolutely delicious. The masa has a great flavor, cooks very well and it remains nice a soft even when cooked. We did cheese, rajás con queso, chicken, and sweet tamales. They all came out great and had great flavor. It's even better than my original spot. I will be going here from now on. Plus the people working there are all so nice. I went on two different days and every person there was so friendly and helpful. I really appreciate that. I'm happy to have found a new spot for years to come.

We've been going to this place for years since I was kid to buy masa and hominy for pozole. It's the freshest you'll ever have. They have masa for tamales and masa for tortillas. They also sell Mexican sweet bread. They sell corn tortillas made there and u can tell they are fresh with that homade masa smell. They also sell meat and other stuff. Parking is a little tricky but at the end of the block just around the corner there is public parking and it's 25cents per 30 mins.

La Morena Bakery is the only place my mom trusts for masa for tamales. So much so we've been coming here for over 30years! Great customer service with prices to match. They also have a baked bread section (pan dulce). Conveniently located near the corner of Cesar Chavez and St. Louis Street. Meter parking available on side streets.

Wanted to update my review as they deserved better rating ;) Been coming here for past 25 yrs since my sister introduced me to this place. Hands down the best mass around. My tamsles are yummy and I give credit to the masa. Fluffy and perfectly seasoned. My fondest memory from this place is when I ordered 25 lbs of prepared mass and 5 lbs of sweet masa on my first visit to this place years ago. Once the order was called out to the staff in the kitchen, one guy stepped out with my masas. Then I could hear him say in Spanish to the other staff upon returning to the kitchen...."There is a chinese girl out there buying this masa to make tamales!" Before you know it, I saw 4 different faces peer out of the kitchen looking at me with smiles. Lol! Yes..I don't think they realize I speak and understand spanish too. :) The service has always bern friendly. They are very helpful when it comes to how much masa and husks you need to make the # of tamales you want. Parking is a challenge so I usually get there before 8 am. Meter parking in the front.

Bought chicken and pork tamales, hoping I would enjoy them. Too much masa and tamales lacked in flavor. Disappointed.

Overrated, small selection, candies were dry, pricey. Some of the concha's were good soft but all the other items seemed hard / not fresh.

The ham is rolled up and in the center of the croissant, so make sure you bite into it lengthwise to get the ham and cheese all together. Fantastically savory!!! Elderflower Rhubarb: Not as sweet as it appears to be!! Delicious--the elderflower notes come through as you chew, and the ratio of jam to bread is generous. Chocolate Hazelnut Pain au Suisse: Tasty, chocolatey, and hazelnut flavors throughout. Feels like a refined Ferrier Rocher wrapped in bread. Definitely needed water alongside this one because it's quite rich! This was a fun spot to try, and the vibes are beautiful, cozy, and quiet on a weekend morning! All three croissants had an insanely layered bite and excellent crunch/crisp. A bit pricey, but a fun place to try if you're in the mood for nice bread!

The key is to go on a weekday to avoid the line, as the weekend can definitely get busy. This last time I finally got to try the tofu cream topped croissant, which was ~to die for~. It was a little bit savory with the miso but still (not too) sweet. This felt super original and I would definitely recommend. I also tried the pistachio croissant and asparagus danish this time round and both were extremely good as well. I would have no qualms with re-ordering either. The only note is the pistachio cream is pretty runny, so it's hard to cut and share, as the cream just oozes out. The workers there are super friendly and kind. The drinks are also very good if you're looking to get a little extra treat as well.

The nikuman had a meat (chicken?) and veggie filling that was crunchy and slightly sweet and salty, while the curryman had a traditional Japanese curry filling that was tasty with the perfect amount of spices. I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off. I'm not going to pay for food that skims on ingredients and shortchanges customers by charging more for less, so this will be my last visit.

I expected a high-quality cupcake. The cupcakes looked cute, but they were as dry as the Sahara. They should have been labeled as white cupcakes as I didn't detect any vanilla in them. I suspect that the "buttercream" was made with milk and margarine and powdered sugar.....so much powdered sugar. It was sickeningly sweet, and it was dry too. And a true bettercream doesn't even use powdered sugar. So not only were the cupcakes terrible, they were not even what they purported to be.
