I came with a group of older adults, many of whom used walkers or canes. I thought this was a restaurant where you sit down and order. But apparently not, because everybody had to get up and go order their own food and then bring it to the table. They didn't even bring water or come by and see if we needed anything. This is not a restaurant; it's more like a fast food place that has a lot of tables in it. I would not recommend it for a dining experience, though I might recommend it for pickup and carry out. I have been on such a long search for good tacos and I thought I would never find anything, until La Morena. When I say authentic, I mean it!!! I'm from Southern California so I know my tacos and this...this is 12/10!!!!!!! Number one, the tortillas are handmade! That alone just makes the tacos taste that much better! I ordered 4 tacos (asada and al pastor) and from the first bite, I knew this would be my favorite place! Pupusas were big, crispy, and the dough to filling ratio was amazing. we also got their horchata and pineapple juice. Horchata was a bit grainy but we didn't mind it was still good and the pineapple juice was nice, sweet, and refreshing. This place is one of Harrisonburg's hidden gems! I've been coming here for years and am so happy to see how much they have grown. The food is absolutely amazing - the chips, salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip are always amazing and fresh. They have a salsa bar with so many varieties that everyone will leave with something they love! The burritos are stuffed full of tender meat, beans, and rice and if you get the cheese on top you're in for a real treat! I will always come here whenever I am in town. This is a perfect place for everything from a snack to a meal. I have come here every year for the past 6 years and I am surprised it is not more popular! My favorite order is either the watermelon or lemonade & chia seeds agua fresca with a torta. My favorite taco place in Harrisonburg, and my favorite place to eat overall! My first visit made a lasting impression. The owner could tell that my friend and I were new to this place. After we ordered, he gave us these small cups and directed us to the salsa bar. He explained what each of them were and their spice level. He was even nice enough to let me try their aguas frescas with no additional charge. Not sure what I got but it was good. The tacos are reasonably priced, but most importantly they are delicious! What's nice is that they don't skimp out on the meat. My personal favorite is the steak tacos. But I'll get the chicken too! Definitely check out the salsa bar and add them to yours. I recently came back and was surprised to see their updated interior! They've added more seats, which is nice to see. They also have descriptions at the salsa bar now! Best tacos I have ever eaten. Among us we tried the shredded beef, carnitas, barbacoa, shredded pork, and tripe. All were delicious. When we visit Harrisonburg, we eat here at least once when we are in town. We had a papusa. Delicious! They make their own corn tortillas. So fresh! Seating is limited. Recently discovered this place. It is both a convenience store and a restaurant. The restaurant portion is authentic and delicious. While eating here with a group of colleagues, everyone got something a little different but we enjoyed everything. I am a big fan of the Gorditas, which is a corn flour shell deep fried with your choice of meat and lettuce, tomato, sour cream and cheese. The salsa bar is on point. However, you are only allowed to get two containers for the salsas, narrowing your choices down. There isn't too much seating, but I've never had trouble finding a table.
