Was in desperate need of a shellac manicure during a recent visit to DFW. Went here on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Very professional service and you get a free drink (water, pop, white or red wine) while your services are getting completed. The place isn't huge so you may want to make an appointment as I'm sure they get busy during the weekend. They have a good range of shellac colors and they take their time filing and processing under the UV light. You also get a free neck/shoulder massage. I felt like I was actually at a masseuse! At the last minute, I decided to also get a pedicure. More wine while I waited and an amazing pedicure. They use hot stones and again don't rush through any of the process. Unbelievable considering the owner was the "grown" man who yelled at me for simply going elsewhere to get a pedicure. **UPDATE** I've been coming here now for 3 months and was impressed when the manager read my review and got more colors. Everything was working out great until today... I called two weeks ago to make an appointment for 6 and they apparently didn't put me down which I discovered when I came in. So they told me they'd do my nails first and then pedicure after (normally they do them together). I was supposed to be somewhere at 8 today. So I already wasn't happy with them but agreed hoping I'd still be out in time. So Tina does my nails and then another girl comes in and asks for a polish change and instead of finishing my cuticle oil and shoulder massage like normal my Tina goes to change her polish. This really frustrated me and I decided to take my business elsewhere. So I go to pay and then I tell them I'll just pay for the manicure and go somewhere else for my pedicure. The manager starts arguing with me and then I keep telling him what I didn't appreciate and that this time I'd rather go elsewhere and then he starts raising his voice, interrupting me, talking over me so I told Tina I would see her in a few weeks and I walked out on him. Absolutely unprofessional to treat a customer like that especially when I myself was calm and not at all rude or confrontational. Original: After a pretty frustrating few experiences I was in search of a new nail tech and was recommended LA Nail Spa by a couple friends. I checked on yelp and liked Tina's work so called and made an appointment. When I walked in Tina was finishing up on someone and they told me to pick a color, asked me what I wanted to drink and soaked me. As someone who is very picky about shade, I was kinda disappointed in their dip selection but was able to find something close to what I wanted. The way they soak is also quick and clean and I was pleasantly surprised. When Tina came over to greet me she was very nice and gave me a shoulder massage and this blew my mind. I doubled checked the prices with her and then confirmed mon - wed was 15% off and then decided I wanted a pedicure. They were able to move me right into a chair and work on both mani and pedi at the same time. Tina's work is flawless. She cleaned my cuticles very well and was able to shape my nails exactly the way I wanted. The pedicure was also amazing, the basic one included a hot stone massage. Next time will ask her to go harder on my calluses though. When I got home I did notice the paint was splotchy on one toe, but only flaw. As I was getting ready to leave I realized I left my wallet at home and felt horrible but asked them to wait while I ran back home and they did. Very grateful they trusted me. The check situation was a bit frustrating as apparently it's $5 for tips and additional $5 for shape and that wasn't clear even when I asked her. Also if you use your credit card there is an additional charge which was not communicated to me. By the end of it I was too tired to ask for a breakdown of it but when I got home I did the math and I guess the credit card fee is about $5. My nails were poorly done and I voiced my opinion and concern to "Andrew" who did them. They were so thin that they broke WHILE I was in the salon. So I asked for them to be fixed. He was very defensive and had a rebuttal for everything instead of fixing the concern. I told him the nails were not worth full price and he immediately said he would cut my nails off. So I paid for my gel toes and eyebrows. After "Lele" tried to diffuse the situation she said she would paint my nails to fix them. So he got aggressive and in my face and said she wouldn't do anything until I paid for the nails because I was trying "to steal" and run out. I was seated the entire time. Never once got out of my seat. He walked towards me with scissors and I began to call my brother because I was the only person in the salon at this time after closing hours. After I paid he relaxed and went outside. Then he came back in to antagonize me, saying I needed to sign the receipts. All while my nails are getting painted and drying. I told them I would sign it once I was done drying. He wouldn't leave me alone and stood there. So I signed it, messing my gel polish up. After I signed the receipts he went outside again. And then came BACK in for more! He then told me my signatures didn't match and yelled at me demanding my ID. Once again I told him I would once my nails dried. He then called the police on me, stepped outside to tell them whatever more additional information. They arrived and told him I did no criminal thing. As a black young woman, I wouldn't recommend this salon to ANYONE of my color. There was a white male getting serviced at the same time as me and Andrew was pleasant with him the whole time until he left. Even apologized to him for what had happened. But never once apologized to me. This was by far the most disgraceful and horrific experience I ever had in my life. He made sure he told me he didn't care about me being a customer and so much more. I have been coming to LA Nail Spa since it first opened and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Andrew and Lili have always treated me like family and my nails and toes always look great! I have recommended this place to many of my friends and all have said that they love this place! It is small and sometimes they are all busy and aren't able to get to me and I'm super sad that I either have to go somewhere else or come back to them. But if you are able to wait, I promise you won't be disappointed! They even shut this place down for me and my bridal party before my wedding. After just moving to Dallas, this is the first nail spa I've tried. Upon walking in, the place seemed nice enough. I didn't have to wait too long. The male owner walked around shouting about football which isn't my favorite while in my place of relaxation but that's fine. I've been getting my nails done religiously for at least 20 years. This place cuts corners at every turn. Rather than taking time to soak your gel off by wrapping each nail individually which is most safe for the consumer, they soak your whole hand in a bowl of acetone! Thanks chemicals! They don't use any SANITARY LINERS in their pedicure stations. I didn't see anywhere that the tools were being sanitized either. To do the callous remover, they opened an apparently dirty tool, and I had to stop them before using it on me. I came back here a couple times, only due to the fact I didn't know anywhere better yet. The final turn off is how extremely rude the owner is. He acts as if he deserves our business. Upon finishing my last service there, they realized their internet was down. Had me stand at the counter for over 15 minutes and then barked at me to go to a bank and get cash and spoke down to me because I wasn't carrying any. I'm sorry that your business clearly states it takes cards. Ladies- protect your beautiful hands and feet and go somewhere else! This place is as good as it gets for affordable luxury. Is it the cheapest, heck no- but you do get a discount for going Monday-Wednesday. I've tried other places, but keep going back. Here's why: They listen: If you have specific requests, they do their best to honor them. I'm particular about how my Gel polish is taken off, I run, so I want my pedicure done a certain way- basically I'm high maintenance but am always accommodated without being made to feel like I'm high maintenance. Attention to detail: You will never get a bad food massage, a smudged nail, etc. If you do notice something, they will overcompensate to fix it. When applying polish, I swear I rarely see them have to clean around my cuticle. The little things: When you walk in, you have tons of high quality polishes. Soft drinks and inexpensive wine are complimentary. The basic pedicure includes hot stones and lots and lots of massage- I could go on. The only negatives I've experienced here are more client based than salon based. Clients feel the need to talk on their phones excessively during the pedicures- often loudly and in detail about whatever party their sorority sisters cousin was at the night before. It's so annoying, but not the fault of the salon. This is a small business who takes pride in their return clientele. One recommendation I would make is to give them a call 30-45 minutes before you go as they get extremely busy. read more

The nail shop is ok. They are very attentive and do what you ask. My issue is, they didn't know how to do what I asked. They didn't have the newest colors either. I keep my nails very simple too. My eyebrows also could've been done better. I can't say that they do bad work, but I expect better. But there is a man that I'm assuming runs the nail shop. He is rather rude to people. He wasn't rude to me but he yelled at the staff. And then began dusting as if he didn't just yell. Not my kind of establishment. This was probably my second or third visit here. And the service is consistently attentive and wonderful. The weather is gorgeous so that means one thing...SANDALS! The ladies were out in droves getting their feet ready to pull those feet out from the winter doldrums. Packed house, but I had less than a 5 minute wait. I was offered a drink. Of course, I went for the wine. (LUSH.) Despite the packed house, I wasn't rushed AT ALL. Excellent pedicure experience. He really took his time. After reading several reviews, I decided to try this salon AND the shellac for the first time yesterday. I LOVE the shellac! It's wonderful, and is the perfect mix of the acrylic shine, but still allows a short & conservative nail length which is more my style. The salon was like a Cheers version of a nail salon. The patrons were friendly and I had a wonderful chat with Liz in the next chair. Liz was a 2 year client at La Nail, and the other ladies were all long-time clients too. That's a good sign in ANY competitive business market. My manicure, pedicure, and the complimentary neck massage were great. A glass of chilled wine was very enjoyable. And, my girl added a nice touch at the end of my appointment and gave me a mini bottle of water (ice cold!) for the ride home. The reviews were right - and the 2 ladies who worked on me were very attentive to detail and courteous. I had an overall great experience. The 15% discount on Mon-Wed is a bonus for me since my day off every week is Tues! I recommend the salon, and I will be a regular customer now :-) read more

La Nail Spa is my favorite nail spot so far in Dallas, I am a repeat customer and I will come back. Below are what I feel are the pros/cons of this establishment. Pros: You are always offered something to drink, they have FREE WINE for customers, as well as Diet Dr. Pepper which is my personal favorite Gel Manicure comes with a shoulder/back massage included and paraffin wax. I LOVE this. So far I have gotten two and both techs gave an equally great massage. Also, the wax they use smells incredible. Their pricing is very reasonable for what you get - $33 for a gel mani (with massage, paraffin wax and free wine included as mentioned above!). They also offer 15% off Mon-Weds, bringing it down to $29 The quality of their work is good. My nails look neat and how I want them to look when I leave. The staff are very friendly with one another and it's a positive environment for the workers. At other nail salons I have patronized I have noticeably observed the owners (usually male) boss the girls around and make them bring them drinks, change the TV channel to something they want to watch, etc. Call me a feminist, but watching that go down really makes me annoyed, even as a customer. I haven't seen that happen here Cons: The environment is pretty crowded and cheap looking. The walls have this ugly texturing and the decorations are tacky. It doesn't really feel 'spalike', but this is really a minor complaint In line with my comment above about the staff being friendly with each other, they do speak to each other and yell across the room to each other in different languages in front of clients regularly. I'm not the kind of person who typically feels threatened by this (like thinking, "oh, they're not speaking english so they must be talking shit about me") but I know that some people do feel that way. My absolute favorite nail place in the world. The prices are so reasonable and the nail technicians do an amazing job. I've got these weak sissy little nails, and they always paint a few extra layers of gel so that it looks like I've been taking folic acid supplements. Free wine, water, soda, or whatever beverages you would like, in addition to free hot stone massage if you're getting a pedicure OR paraffin wax treatment for the hands if you're getting a manicure. If you're a repeat customer, rather than charging $5 to remove gel nail coating, they'll discount $5 from your total price! Monday through Wednesdays = 15% discount. They'll stay open as late as possible to accommodate every walk-in. If you're having trouble choosing a color, just ask Lily or one of her gals. They know what's in and what looks good. Whenever I take their recommendations, I'm 100% satisfied. Highly recommend calling in and setting your appointment as soon as you know your schedule, so you don't have to wait 10-30 minutes, depending on how busy their salon is. I wanted to try a new place and after reaching the stellar reviews for LA Nail Spa, I knew I had to try it. When I arrived, I was seated right away to start on my mani. I actually PREFER it when they do your mani separately from the pedi so I liked that I had mine done at different times. The manicure was GREAT! I got a gel manicure and my technician really took her time and my nails look SO perfect. While they were having their final dry in the UV, she gave me the most amazing neck massage. Then we moved over to the pedi. My guy REALLY took his time cleaning and massaging and even did a hot stone massage! All in all, everyone was friendly and they did an EXCELLENT job with my nails. Everyone was super nice there, they offer you drinks, and made sure I was comfortable. I got gel mani with hand dip and regular pedi with hot stone massage, they also massage your shoulders when you nails are done. I absolutely LOVE my nails! Like many of you ladies, I am quite experienced when it comes to manis and pedis. Today was BY FAR the worst experience I have ever had in a nail salon!!! I walked in around 2:30 PM and was helped immediately. I needed a polish change on my toes, and my gel mani removed and just a plain old mani this time, thank you. The woman who spoke English and seemed to have some skills with nails decided to have one of her coworkers do her own nails, while she pawned me off on a non English speaking newbie. As soon as the newbie started scuffing my fingernails with the emory board, missing every other stroke and hitting my cuticles (OUCH!!!), I should have gotten up and left. Unfortunately, I chose to persevere. She then soaked the gel off in a bowl of acetone, which is not the preferred method. Then, she couldn't seem to file my toenails straight across, and when I tried to point it out, she kept making them worse and worse! I can assure you, the experience never improved in AN HOUR AND A HALF, and I will never be back. You should definitely find somewhere else to patronize. I'm glad to say that LA Nail Spa is one of those places. And it's not a secret! I've been to this spot a handful of times and it was packed each and every time. Why? Well, after being greeted they offer up the good stuff: wine! Yeah, I'm a sucker for a drink while getting a pedi. Whenever you get your service (which COULD take a while but they'll give you an estimate right up front), talk it up with your nail tech. That means more wine and more awesome service. There's a few male nail techs at this place and they're awesome. I actually prefer going with them because their massages are out of this world. And there's always been fellas getting pedicures too when I've gone -- even bought my boyfriend along once and he was in pure heaven. For $29, you really can't beat the service and skill these people provide. Try to make an appointment and arrive early because parking is minimal. I went to LA Nail Spa for about a year, and always thought is was a 3.5-4 star place, but it was convenient, close to my house, and the staff was friendly, so I continued to get pedicures & gel manicures there. The past 2-3 times I have been, the place was extremely rowdy (it's a very small, tight place inside) and the staff wasn't nearly as friendly. The staff talked to the person next to them the whole time, while people were clearly trying to enjoy their wine and relax.
