LA Nails has recently undergone a massive renovation in Eastgate mall. They bought the store beside them and expanded the space to accommodate a larger number of people, hired additional staff to cater to those extra numbers, added a massage and waxing area, and a nicer restroom. Equipment is all new, from what I can tell, and pedi chairs are all updated. They've added a children's area of pedi chairs, as well. That being said, it is a mall salon. You will not be escorted to a quiet spa room in the back, like at Mitchells or Avalon. However, the prices are on par with a mall joint, and you do not need an appointment-pretty much ever. I will also say that my polish lasts forever when I got here- this is the best experience that I've had with Shellac manicures with these "drop-by" kind of establishments. Want a spa experience? Upgrade to a salon. Want a drive-by mani/pedi at the last moment? Def worth the stop. read more

I have been using this salon for almost 10 years. I have had some less than great experiences, but its been a long time. It is in your best interest to be a regular, because then your tech can get to know you and what you like. I get gel nails and my tech, Justin, works hard to make sure I'm happy, every time. I've been to LA nails a few times so I'd say I have a pretty good judgement on the place. Don't get me wrong- they always do a great job!! The prices are fair, and I leave satisfied. The people just aren't very social. I like having someone who seems like they want to start conversation or are having fun. If the employees were a little more upbeat then I'd give this place a 4 or 5. But for now, 3 works! read more

I've been going here on and off for 6 years. You can't beat the prices. I tried a few different technicians until I found the one that did the best job for me. They accept walk-ins, but, I prefer to make an appointment so I can get my preferred tech. Depending on the service I choose, most of the time I can get in and out on my lunch hour and my nails always look great. read more

I decided to treat myself to an after Christmas mani. I read some of the reviews and should have gone with what I read. There was no wait and I had my color picked out. Once seated he asks if I would like shellac stating "shiner..women love it". Being a newbie, I agreed not knowing of the up sale. I know, my fault. My mani looked great for a day. And then three full nails simply popped off. I go back in to have them redone. Again, no wait no problem. Once finished, she looked at my in anticipation of a tip. I had tipped very generously the first time. I'm a week into the new mani and the nail color is chipping and needs redone. Definitely not the place that I will be visiting anytime soon. I had my nails done on Friday, by Wednesday they were bubbling and raising up on the sides. I went in after work on Wednesday they sent me to a man's table he said that I needed to get them filled to maintain them, I told him it had only been 4 days since I had them done and they should not need to be filled he started filing them really hard and said I fix them, in the meantime another of his clients came in and sat down next to me and he told her to wait while he fixed my nails after he worked on them for about 10 minutes he grab the clippers ripped off three nails and said I have no time for you but you need to come back another day!! Needless to say I was not very happy he and I had some heated words, then another employee came over and said she would fix my nails, she said that they had been done wrong and no one put a base coat on them she was very nice, but due to the one employee I will never go back there again and I have gone there for the last couple years. I also find it very rude when they all sit around and talk in their language and do not use English. I would not recommend this place to anyone and if I could give it no stars I would. read more

This is my second time going to LA nails in Eastgate. The first time I went, they did great. I went today and the experience was absolutely awful. The lady doing my nails did not scrub at all at my feed, and my nails were due for a pedicure and she kept looking over to the lady next to me laughing. She also kept being very rude when telling me to switch positions with my feet, and she wouldnt speak, only demand point. They basically charged me $30 to paint my nails. read more

I had the single worst experience at this salon. The tech cut three of my cuticles to the point of bleeding and filed the skin right off of the tip of my finger to the point of bleeding. FOUR of my 10 nails were bleeding at the end of my simple manicure. Horrific. read more

Took my wife and 2 daughters up tonight to get there nails done before a wedding on Saturday, read the reviews and expected the worst plus it's in eastgate mall so was just hoping it would be quick and cheap. It was quick and not to expensive, the girls working we're great with my girls and they had fun, nails came out great. When I arrived there was a wait, so the guy working the desk took my cell phone and called me when they were ready so I could shop in the mall while waiting. I got a basic spa pedicure and Jenny took her time and did a great job. I will definitely return. read more

My 14 year old daughter went in here with her friends for JUST a manicure - POLISH ONLY. She told the tech FOUR times she did NOT want acrylics. He apparently has trouble understanding English and put acrylics on her anyway. She was so upset when she got home because she knows how bad acrylics are for your nails. She felt intimidated by the tech who kept saying, "You want what your friends got, trust me." She kept telling him, she was a basketball player and she only wanted her own short nails polished. He cut her natural nails EXTREMELY short, then added a little acrylic tip to make them as long as her original nails were in the first place. DO NOT let young girls go into this place alone because the staff there will take advantage of them, intimidate them, and charge them for something more expensive than what they asked for. read more

Horrible experience! Today I was told that a new set of acrylic nails and a pedicure would be $30.00 each. Equals $60.00, right?? My pedicure was five minutes tops. Ive never had one like it. The nail tech was abrupt and very rough and cut me three times in the process. She then kept mumbling to herself that I was "sensitive" because I jumped with she would cut me with her tools or rammed my cuticles down! I was holding my breath throughout the whole ordeal, couldn't get out of their fast enough! After she was finished and gave me the bill she had added an additional $9.00 to the bill. When I protested she kept saying I was mistaken. She didn't deserve it but I put a tip on the bill of $69.00. She then took out her calculator and started punching numbers. I couldn't believe my eyes. She looked at me and said, yes that's fine..you did a good job, that's right!!! Checking on the calculator right in front of me..unreal. I have never been so outraged in my life! A tip isn't something required it is for good service but I still gave her a great tip and then she double-checked my math! This pathetic pedi and nails cost me $80+ and I hate the look of the nails to top it off and Ive given myself a better pedi at home.Bottom line: It was a horrible experience, they just lost a client and I will tell everyone I know about this shabby experience, someone needs to tell the nail tech that it pays to do your job right and in a courteous manner. read more

The reason why I gave this spa one star is because of their costumer service ! I was never treated like the way I was yesterday. The girl that was in the front desk was so rude and racist. Me and my sister wanted pedicure service and we had a question about the two different types of pedicures they had.. One cost $30 and the other $55 we wanted to know the difference between the two and make sure that we get what we wanted, the way she even stood up to come talk to us was like if she was saying "get out of here" I signed my name, but then when I saw her attitude and the way she was treating us I crossed it out and Walked away! I was very very mad and disappointed... It looked like if it was a great spa.. But unfortunately what I've been thought made me rethink about going there ever again. read more

I called ahead and asked if they did chrome on nails or holographic powder, and they assured me that they did. when I got there and told them what I wanted as polish after they had already started they told me that they don't do that and I said it was ridiculous when I called ahead and asked if they did and they said yes. they make you pay half way through without even finishing their jobs. read more

Very disappointed in the service I received when I came in to get a fill-in. Nancy is the tech who did my nails. She was not careful at all. Hit my nails multiple times and blamed it on me when I hadn't moved. Aside from messing them up a few times, she was extremely rude. Giving nasty looks and attitude every time she said anything. At the end she has painted on my skin which isn't a big deal so I asked her if she could please clean them up a bit. She gave me a nasty look and cleaned them pushed my hand and asked me "good?" In the nastiest way possible. I'm not one to complain but this was very uncalled for. When I asked to speak to the manager she started talking over everyone to defend herself which was extremely unprofessional. Very disappointed in my visit and will never be coming here again! This place is hit or miss. Lucky has always taken good care of me there and is friendly and outgoing. The majority of the others could take you or leave you.The last 2 times I've gone I've had issues. The first issue was my nails were "bubbly" and odd-shaped when they finished. I just let it go because I was driving a pretty good distance to go there. The other time I took my 2 nieces to get a pedicure. They are 9 and 8. One went to the butterfly seat and one went to the adult chair. They were not together at all and they didn't even charge the same price for them. I felt I was WAY overcharged, when all they did was literally polish their toenails, (which came off in less than 24 hours). Also, their recent price increase is ridiculous. There is barely a difference in price for a fill-in and a full-set, plus they're adding tax on top of it. I pass numerous nail salons on my way there and was very loyal to them at one time, but for that price, I think it's time to find something closer and cheaper. read more

Don't waste your money. They are idiots. Had nails put on and they looked so thick and terrible that other salons were laughing at their work when I went elsewhere for fill-ins. I recently went again to get shellac paint and they looked awful. She painted my nails and my skin then grinded my nails down some more to repaint them and still did it wrong!!!! Color is not even and filed my healthy nails to an ugly square shape with jagged edges from a pretty oval that they were. Then they can't understand English so they do whatever they want to do then fix it if you aren't happy all the while hurrying through. And that pathetic service cost $30!!! Just for polish that looks awful!! When I pointed out that she painted my skin she took out the grinder and used it to remove the polish which also burned my skin and dulled the rest of the paint and shine. I have never written a review before, and L.A. Nails of Eastgate mall provided me with inspiration to write my first one. I will start by saying this: being a server, I've learned to respect those in the tipping industry. Whether it is a restaurant, hair/nail salon, drive-thru, etc., I tip 20% at minimum and way more if I feel you did abover and beyond. I respect those who work hard and their job, not those who try to get by with the bare minimum. After working from 10:00am to 6pm I decided to get my nails done since it is not something I do all the time. I invited my friend and her six year old daughter along because they've had a rough time and I felt they deserved to be treated to something fun and relaxing. We also brought her niece along, who is four. We decided to go to L.A. Nails because they had the kid-friendly atmosphere. Originally, the guy working the desk said the price of manicure for each kid would be $6.00, polish only. My friend got a pedicure and I got a french manicure, polish only. The sign states: $35.00 for a pedicure and $10.00 for a manicure. The lady who did my nails, stops after painting one hand and asks how I want to pay. First of all, why are you asking me to grab my wallet out of my purse when you are in the middle of applying polish to my nails? Ok, moving on. She totals the bill to $93.00 and I already expected it to be high, but didn't question it. I hand her $120, tip included. She begins to paint the other hand and stops again and says, "Oh you got french I forgot. It's $5.00 more." I think to myself well you can take it out of the $120 I already gave you, but didn't question it and handed her five more dollars. I look at the sign to double check prices in my head, adding $12 for two kids polish, 1 pedicure for $35, and $10 for the French manicure. As my nails are drying (which she didn't even apply a second coat like she said she would) her and the guy working the counter come up to me and he says she over charged me and it was only $67 and said I gave her $105. He hands me $38 back. I said I gave her $125 and she immediately said no you only gave me $105. I accept my $38 back and leave it alone. After talking to my friend about it and knowing for a fact I gave her $125, I decided to confront the guy at the counter. I told him I don't need my money back, but that I wanted him to know I gave the girl who did my nails $125 not $105 and that the whole ordeal was uncalled for. I have been to this salon numerous times and have always had good service. Needless to say I will not be going back to a place that feels the need to steal from good people and lie about money, when I came in with good intentions. $88 for what should have costed under $60. (35+12+10). What that girl doesn't know is I would have tipped her very well if they didn't just make up prices, and apply a second coat! I will never go back.
